shiny happy Hayes

This is one of those sugary sweet posts that may make you a little sick to your stomach. But I can’t help it. This is just so cute!

I know I keep saying that Hayes is the sweetest, happiest, most content baby and he really is. Of course he has his fussy moments, but they’re very rare. He is just so low maintenance and is always okay to just go with the flow.

We’re pretty proud of him because he had mastered sleeping 9-10 hours at night without waking up, so we decided to do the next phase of Moms on Call, which has them sleeping 11-12 hours. And Hayes did it on his first try! He cried for less than 5 minutes at 5:00 a.m. and was then back to sleep until 7:30 this morning. I love Moms on Call!

He smiles so much. At this age, we had to try really hard to get Hudson to crack a smile, but once Hudson started, he never stopped! Hayes just smiles at us all the time and always seems to get tickled at stuff. It’s like he wants us to know how happy he is to be here. And that just makes my heart flutter!

We are so blessed to have this little guy in our family and I look forward to seeing him every single morning and miss him after he’s gone to bed.

Yesterday I put him in his swing and was talking to him and he started giggling. I was so happy to have had my iPhone with me so I could get it on video. He’s such a happy little guy! I can’t believe he’s almost 3 months old.
*I hope the swing and the fancy camera work don’t give you motion sickness. And I hope my over-the-top mommy voice doesn’t make your ears bleed!

Hayes is 2 months old!

Dear Hayes,

You turned 2 months old on July 5! I can’t believe two months have passed since we were here.

Time is flying so quickly! I already have trouble remembering what our family was like without you in it. You are such a sweet little spirit and we thank God for you every single day.

You are smiling all the time in the mornings and at night. You coo a lot, too. You just need someone to listen! It’s hard to find quiet moments in the house with your big brother around, but we’re listening to you.

You’re a big boy, but still not quite as big as Hudson was. You weighed 12 pounds, 2 ounces at your 2 month appointment and were 24 inches long. Hudson was 15 pounds and 25 3/4 inches long. You’re almost as tall as he was, so you’ll be stuck wearing his hand-me-down clothes for a while longer, at least!

You have become such a good little sleeper in the past couple of weeks thanks to Moms on Call. You sleep 9 straight hours at night without being fed and then go back to sleep for 3 more hours before we start the day.

You’re such an observant little guy. We’ll all be going about our business around the house and I’ll look down at you and you’re just grinning. I’m sure you’re laughing at us on the inside and wondering how on earth you became part of such a crazy family!

Hayes, you’re getting more and more control over your head movement. You’re still a little bobble head though!

You smile as soon as you see your “friends” on your play mat or in the car seat. It’s so funny to hear you try to talk to them.

You are wearing 3 month and some 3-6 month clothes. You have a couple of 0-3 month things that still fit, but you’re just growing so fast!

You wear a size 1 diaper during the day and a size 2 diaper in night.

You take between 5-6 ounces of formula per feeding. We just switched you to Similac Sensitive for Spit-Up and it seems to be a good fit so far.

Look how much you’ve changed in one month!

Hudson's Birthday: Birthday Boy and Friends

I mentioned yesterday that Hudson’s party was at The Little Gym. We invited all of his friends and it was so much fun to get to see everyone.

I am planning, though, to have Hudson’s party in May of next year. It’s so hard to compete with everyone’s summer plans and we were disappointed that a few of our friends couldn’t be there. It was great to play with the ones that were there, though!

Our friend, Heath, loves to hang on the bars. He is the most agile child I’ve ever seen. I know he’ll be the star athlete someday!

All the kids got to explore the gym, play on the air track, and hunt rubber duckies!

Then it was off for some food and cake. Sweet Anne and Megan came all the way there so Mac and Ella could party with Hudson. I was so happy to see them, too! I have met some of the greatest girls through blogging.

Hudson and Mac checking out each other’s food. “Are you gonna eat that?”

Hudson got all excited when everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to him. He didn’t know how to blow out the candle, though, so Heath took care of that for him!

Gummy worms are the best!

Hudson and his pals! How cute is Ella in her Oscar the Grouch hat? Oh my goodness, the cuteness!

Hudson had Poppie, RC, and Elmo there to help him open his presents. He still isn’t sure what opening presents is all about, but he got some really fun presents from his friends.

Hudson, Mac, and Ella just hanging out at the end of the party. I hope these three kiddos can get together as much as possible. I love them and their mommies!

And sweet baby brother Hayes just hung out and did his thing during the party.

Hudson’s smocked Sesame Street longall was purchased online from Trendi Tots Boutique

It was a great party! I’m going to share with y’all some of the gifts Hudson was given this year and some ideas for gifts for two-year-olds in case anyone is looking for ideas for the two-year-old in your life!

Hudson's Birthday: The Party Set-Up

Hudson is absolutely obsessed with Sesame Street, so we threw him a Sesame Street birthday party this year. He loves all of the characters and just stops whatever he is doing if he sees anyone in a store who lives on Sesame Street.

Because I knew I’d have a one-month-old, I decided to have Hudson’s party at one of his favorite places, The Little Gym. The Little Gym staff does all of the set up and clean up, they keep track of who gave presents (for thank you note purposes), and provide drinks, napkins, plates, and forks.

The staff was so helpful to us and I am so happy we had the party there. They also took care of all of the activities for the kids– something that is hard to do for toddlers.

I did choose to get our own decorations and favors (Little Gym provides a balloon) to bring more of Hudson’s favorite Sesame Street characters to the party. I loved the balance of low key and easy party and still being able to decorate a bit.

We put goldfish (also known as Dorothy from Elmo’s World) in little Chinese take out boxes

Cookie favors from A Dozen Eggs with character tags and “Hudson Street”

More favor bags and the yummy Publix cupcakes. Publix makes the best cupcakes!

Cups for the kids from Kelley Cards

Gummy worms for Oscar’s Pet Worm “Slimey.” Hudson was so excited about the gummy worms!

Rubber duckies for all the kids just like Ernie’s Rubber Duckie.

All of Hudson’s Sesame Street “friends” were at the party, too!

The plates and party hats are also from Kelley Creations. They are SO cute!

Paper Stuff

My sweet friends at Sweet Birdie’s Nest created all of the paper stuff for us like the cupcake toppers, the circle centerpieces, the table confetti with Sesame Street characters, the favor tags, water bottle labels, banner, stickers, and food labels. It all turned out perfectly! They are so easy to work with and really helped me out this year! They also made Hudson’s invitations that I’ll show you later. I highly recommend them for all of your birthday party needs.

Cookie Favors

A Dozen Eggs creates the most delicious, most creative, and most adorable cookie favors! We used them last year for Hudson’s green ham cookies (for Green Eggs and Ham) and they made some adorable “Hudson Street” cookies. The toppers were our favorite part– after the taste!

Plates, Party Hats, Favor Bags, Bubbles, Play Dough, and Cups

Kelley Creations created all of these adorable items by hand! By hand! I am just so impressed with what they do and their creativity really made some adorable favors for Hudson’s friends.

Each favor bag included a bottle of Sesame Street bubbles, Sesame Street play dough, and a lollipop. And each guest also took him a Sesame Street cup, a rubber duckie, and a Hudson Street cookie.

(The paddle ball game and frisbee are shown in the photo and we didn’t order those)

Cupcakes

Publix is our go-to place for delicious cupcakes!
