Answers: home tours and handbags

I got a question asking if I have ever done a post with pictures of our house.

About two years ago or so, I did a series called “Home Tour Tuesday” and showed pictures of almost every room in our house. I’ve also done various posts over time of different rooms in the house.

The Nursery

Hudson’s Room

New Living Room Furniture (before and after)

Downstairs Bathroom

We have replaced some of the pillows on the sectional since doing the earlier post and we have changed the nursery a bit, so I’ve included some photos of those.

We changed out the artwork and now Kim’s painting is on the wall with our friend’s work that was created for Hudson.

I’ve noticed a Louis Vuitton handbag in your posts. Which one do you have?

I have two LV handbags and I really love them both. I don’t think I’d ever consider selling either of them because I carry both all the time.

The first one is the Louis Vuitton Stresa PM in Damier Azur Canvas. It’s so comfortable and so easy to get into when I’m out and about with kids. I love it.

This one was my first and is the Louis Vuitton Galliera PM in Monogram Canvas. It is a couple years old now and is so very soft.

Answers: baby #3?

I got a few questions regarding a possible baby #3 for our family and a question about baby #2, now known as Hayes!

Do y’all want to have anymore children? When would you want to do that?

I’ve always thought I wanted three children, but right now I am just focused on taking care of the two that we’ve been blessed to  call ours. I may decide that two is all we can handle or all we want to handle. It may be that we can’t afford three children. I just don’t know right now. But I love the idea of having three kids and I think it’s a good sign that I’m not saying “absolutely not” after a month of having two children.

I would want to wait a while, though. Not too long, but I would want Hayes to be at least three years old before we have another one. I want to enjoy this time with my boys and enjoy some good time with my husband without focusing on a pregnancy. It’s time to just sit back and relax for a little while and appreciate the blessings we’ve been given.

And I’ll probably have baby #3 in the back of my mind.

Do you want a girl?

It would be so much fun to have a girl some day. But I never imagined how much I could love being a boy mom! Hudson is just so sweet and his love for his mommy is one of the things I’m most grateful for. I know it won’t always be that way, but I really really appreciate the bond we have. And I hope Hayes and I have the same thing. But having a girl would be lots of fun, too– especially in the future when I’m older and she’s having babies and I could be there for her the way my mother has been there for me.

If you have another baby, will you give him or her an “H” name also?

The plan was never to have all “H” name babies. But we had a list of three baby boy names and one of them was Hayes. It was just a coincidence that our favorite boy name started with an “H.” So when it was confirmed that the baby was another boy, it made some sense for us to give him an “H” name just so he could wear a lot of Hudson’s clothes that were monogrammed with a simple “H.”

If there is a baby #3, we won’t give him or her an “H” name just because my other favorite girl and boy names don’t start with an “H.”

No, I’m not sharing the names! Hee hee

How did you decide you were ready to have baby #2?

I am the oldest child of two in my family. My brother is three years younger than I am and until we were grown up and out of the house, we never really got along or had much in common. We were four full years apart in school, so that made it even harder. I wanted to have baby #2 around the time that Hudson turned 2 years old or early in his second year. Fortunately, getting pregnant was easy and God’s plans for our family were for me to get pregnant in August of 2010 and to have a baby when Hudson was 23 months old. I guess time will tell how the age difference works out for the boys.

this, that, and a little in between

1. You know what would be so much fun? If I could wear anything in my closet besides maternity pants. Don’t you think that would be fun? The weight loss process is coming along, but it’s so hard not to get discouraged when I look in the mirror. But for a few more weeks I’m going to wear maternity pants until I break down and buy some pants that fit. Shopping is fun, but I’d rather everything in my closet fit than have to go shopping for new stuff.

Rant over. I promise.

2. I took both boys to the doctor yesterday. It went a lot better than I expected. Hudson was really well-behaved and Hayes only cried when the car stopped! Hudson had his two year well visit and Hayes was just along for the ride. Hudson is right on track and doing great!

3. I’m slowly but surely reading The House on First Street by Julia Reed. I love it so much, but I only can squeeze in about twenty minutes of reading time at night before I shut my eyes. The book is fun for me because I recognize so many of the locations, restaurants, and streets in Julia’s story and it really is a great story about New Orleans that truly captures the culture. My summer reading is starting to pick up as I find more and more free time in my day.

4. Hudson’s birthday party is this weekend. It’s going to be MUCH more low key than last year’s party. I have gotten a few fun Sesame Street items for him to make it fun, but it’s not going to be a huge party. He’s excited to see his friends and play with them for a little while. And I’ll get to use a little bit of my creativity.

5. I lied… Rant wasn’t over… Summer is so much more fun when you’re skinny.

Okay. Rant over. For real.

6. I let my dogs outside today when I was making a bottle and talking on the phone. I’m not sure how much time passed, but all of a sudden I heard a little bark and it sounded like Fiona. And then I realized I hadn’t seen Boudreaux or Fiona in a while. Where could they be? Oh yeah! I let them outside when I wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing. And I forgot to let them back in. Fortunately, only about 20 minutes went by.

Mommy brain is a real thing. And it’s worse than pregnancy brain.

7. I feel like every morning I need to make a written schedule for myself or else I will certainly forget something, get sidetracked, and get completely disorganized. When I have a plan for the day, I am so much more productive and “together.”

8. The Meredith Viera farewell show on Today this morning was really sweet. Meredith isn’t my favorite, but I think she’s real. I just love Matt, though, and love how he can have such a great time at work. I wish he was my coworker.

What’s going on with all of you this week?

Hayes is 1 month old!

Dear Hayes,

I cannot believe how quickly your first month has flown by. For most of the first two weeks we had our struggles with you being a “lazy eater” and losing too much weight. Now that we’re strictly on formula (you are taking Similac Sensitive), you are thriving. And I have lots more time to devote to you and your wild brother.

Some days it seems like you spend all day sleeping and some days you are very very alert. You have the brightest eyes and seem to be just taking everything in.

For the most part, you’re really laid back. You manage to sleep through Hudson’s loud noise and the dogs barking. You fall asleep on your own for every nap and every bedtime. You don’t need to be rocked. I still sneak in a couple of minutes of rocking before I put you in your bed.

Right now, we feed you between 8:00-8:30 p.m. and put you to bed. We wake you up for a “dream feeding” at 11:00 and put you back to bed. You sleep until 3:00, eat a little, and go back to sleep until 6:30. You take a morning nap until around 9:00.

You’re a good baby and have fit in so perfectly with our family. We just love you so much!

Your Aunt Nina thought you needed to have your own Jelly Cats stuffed animal to pose with every month. I gave a monkey to Hudson before he was born and Aunt Nina gave you this gorilla. I’m so excited to measure you up next to the gorilla every month to see how big you are!

We love you, baby Hayes!
