Hudson's Birthday: The Party Set-Up

Hudson is absolutely obsessed with Sesame Street, so we threw him a Sesame Street birthday party this year. He loves all of the characters and just stops whatever he is doing if he sees anyone in a store who lives on Sesame Street.

Because I knew I’d have a one-month-old, I decided to have Hudson’s party at one of his favorite places, The Little Gym. The Little Gym staff does all of the set up and clean up, they keep track of who gave presents (for thank you note purposes), and provide drinks, napkins, plates, and forks.

The staff was so helpful to us and I am so happy we had the party there. They also took care of all of the activities for the kids– something that is hard to do for toddlers.

I did choose to get our own decorations and favors (Little Gym provides a balloon) to bring more of Hudson’s favorite Sesame Street characters to the party. I loved the balance of low key and easy party and still being able to decorate a bit.

More favor bags and the yummy Publix cupcakes. Publix makes the best cupcakes!

Cups for the kids from Kelley Cards

Gummy worms for Oscar’s Pet Worm “Slimey.” Hudson was so excited about the gummy worms!

Rubber duckies for all the kids just like Ernie’s Rubber Duckie.

All of Hudson’s Sesame Street “friends” were at the party, too!

The plates and party hats are also from Kelley Creations. They are SO cute!

Paper Stuff

My sweet friends at Sweet Birdie’s Nest created all of the paper stuff for us like the cupcake toppers, the circle centerpieces, the table confetti with Sesame Street characters, the favor tags, water bottle labels, banner, stickers, and food labels. It all turned out perfectly! They are so easy to work with and really helped me out this year! They also made Hudson’s invitations that I’ll show you later. I highly recommend them for all of your birthday party needs.

Cookie Favors

A Dozen Eggs creates the most delicious, most creative, and most adorable cookie favors! We used them last year for Hudson’s green ham cookies (for Green Eggs and Ham) and they made some adorable “Hudson Street” cookies. The toppers were our favorite part– after the taste!

Plates, Party Hats, Favor Bags, Bubbles, Play Dough, and Cups

Kelley Creations created all of these adorable items by hand! By hand! I am just so impressed with what they do and their creativity really made some adorable favors for Hudson’s friends.

Each favor bag included a bottle of Sesame Street bubbles, Sesame Street play dough, and a lollipop. And each guest also took him a Sesame Street cup, a rubber duckie, and a Hudson Street cookie.

(The paddle ball game and frisbee are shown in the photo and we didn’t order those)

Cupcakes

Publix is our go-to place for delicious cupcakes!

Rubber Duckies and Lollipops

pinnable me friday

I am linking up with Stefanie from Paw Prints and Pastry Bags to show you my favorite things from Pinterest this week. Are you on Pinterest? If you’re not and you want to be, I have a few invites to send out, so let me know!

All the things I’m posting are things that I repinned from various people this week. I’m sorry that I didn’t pay well enough attention to credit each person, but the original source is listed in the screen grab. You all really must get on Pinterest!

I absolutely love this tufted turquoise ottoman and the neutral of the seashells on the tray. The chevron print adds a great pop, too!

I know where I got this! My friend and fellow Golden lover, Samma, pinned it. How sweet are these Goldens? Awww, Boudreaux, I love you!

The elements of this little girl’s room and bold, yet serene. The bedding is simple and understated, but that wall gives the room so much personality. I love it.

I got this colorful art party inspiration from my friend, Faith. Isn’t it amazing? I love all of those colors on the table!

I need to make this chalkboard for my house. So cute!

Head on over to Stefanie’s blog to link up and share your favorite pins from the week! Happy Friday, everyone!

Answers: home tours and handbags

I got a question asking if I have ever done a post with pictures of our house.

About two years ago or so, I did a series called “Home Tour Tuesday” and showed pictures of almost every room in our house. I’ve also done various posts over time of different rooms in the house.

Home Tour Tuesday posts— just scroll through to see all of the posts

The Nursery

Hudson’s Room

New Living Room Furniture (before and after)

Downstairs Bathroom

We have replaced some of the pillows on the sectional since doing the earlier post and we have changed the nursery a bit, so I’ve included some photos of those.

We changed out the artwork and now Kim’s painting is on the wall with our friend’s work that was created for Hudson.

I’ve noticed a Louis Vuitton handbag in your posts. Which one do you have?

I have two LV handbags and I really love them both. I don’t think I’d ever consider selling either of them because I carry both all the time.

The first one is the Louis Vuitton Stresa PM in Damier Azur Canvas. It’s so comfortable and so easy to get into when I’m out and about with kids. I love it.

This one was my first and is the Louis Vuitton Galliera PM in Monogram Canvas. It is a couple years old now and is so very soft.

Answers: baby #3?

I got a few questions regarding a possible baby #3 for our family and a question about baby #2, now known as Hayes!

Do y’all want to have anymore children? When would you want to do that?

I’ve always thought I wanted three children, but right now I am just focused on taking care of the two that we’ve been blessed to  call ours. I may decide that two is all we can handle or all we want to handle. It may be that we can’t afford three children. I just don’t know right now. But I love the idea of having three kids and I think it’s a good sign that I’m not saying “absolutely not” after a month of having two children.

I would want to wait a while, though. Not too long, but I would want Hayes to be at least three years old before we have another one. I want to enjoy this time with my boys and enjoy some good time with my husband without focusing on a pregnancy. It’s time to just sit back and relax for a little while and appreciate the blessings we’ve been given.

And I’ll probably have baby #3 in the back of my mind.

Do you want a girl?

It would be so much fun to have a girl some day. But I never imagined how much I could love being a boy mom! Hudson is just so sweet and his love for his mommy is one of the things I’m most grateful for. I know it won’t always be that way, but I really really appreciate the bond we have. And I hope Hayes and I have the same thing. But having a girl would be lots of fun, too– especially in the future when I’m older and she’s having babies and I could be there for her the way my mother has been there for me.

If you have another baby, will you give him or her an “H” name also?

The plan was never to have all “H” name babies. But we had a list of three baby boy names and one of them was Hayes. It was just a coincidence that our favorite boy name started with an “H.” So when it was confirmed that the baby was another boy, it made some sense for us to give him an “H” name just so he could wear a lot of Hudson’s clothes that were monogrammed with a simple “H.”

If there is a baby #3, we won’t give him or her an “H” name just because my other favorite girl and boy names don’t start with an “H.”

No, I’m not sharing the names! Hee hee

How did you decide you were ready to have baby #2?

I am the oldest child of two in my family. My brother is three years younger than I am and until we were grown up and out of the house, we never really got along or had much in common. We were four full years apart in school, so that made it even harder. I wanted to have baby #2 around the time that Hudson turned 2 years old or early in his second year. Fortunately, getting pregnant was easy and God’s plans for our family were for me to get pregnant in August of 2010 and to have a baby when Hudson was 23 months old. I guess time will tell how the age difference works out for the boys.
