our version of Sideways

So, my maid and matron of honor got the bachelorette party invitations out last week, and I must say that they may be the cutest things I’ve ever seen. My maid of honor, Catherine, designed and created them by hand and I’m so proud of her! I know she was thankful that I only wanted to invite the bridesmaids and myself to the bachelorette party and that there were only 6 invitations to make.

She really surprised me with everything– and we all know how much I love (not!) surprises. But it was so worth it. She put so much thought into these. I will post pictures tomorrow after I actually take some.

I wanted the bachelorette party to be pretty low key, but tons of fun with my favorite ladies. Because my maid and matron of honor live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and one of the bridesmaids is within reasonable driving distance from DFW, we decided to have it there. Every year in April, there is a walking wine tour of the vineyards in Grapevine, TX. We decided to have that event be the focus of the bachelorette party and I’m so excited! Sundresses, wine, and great girls. The trip is coming up on April 18-20– just before the wedding.

Catherine took the lyrics to some of my favorite songs to create four adorable cards that she slipped into a hand-sewn pocket made out of bandana card stock. Everything is Texas centered and cowgirl style. She used the lyrics to Sangria Wine and Heads Carolina, Tails California, but changed it to “Heads Carolina, tails Ft. Worth, Texas!”

I promise to post pictures tomorrow.

the pink pucker?

We’re having a signature drink at our reception. I’ve tried to come up with a lot of different names, but I don’t love any of them. I don’t want something too girly or too corny, but want it to be clever. The two wonderful designers that I work with are creating a recipe card for the bar and I want to do little coasters for each drink with the name of the drink and the recipe.

The drink will be cranberry, vodka, and peach schnappes and be a nice pink color to go with our color scheme. I’ve thought of Tickled Pink, Pink Pucker, Pretty in Pink, though I think Pink Pucker might be my favorite. Any ideas are appreciated!

a fierce finale

I was so excited about last night’s Project Runway finale. I didn’t really have a favorite going into it. I liked Jillian because she was the female of the group, I had a love/hate relationship with Christian and his attitude, and Rami has an amazing way of making the female body look amazing.

I picked my three favorite outfits from last night from all of the designers.

Christian Siriano

Jillian Lewis (beautiful sweater!)

Rami Kashou

Overall, in my opinion, Christian’s collection was the most cohesive and interesting, but this dress by Rami is so beautiful and was favorite piece of the night. It screams wedding to me!

Was anyone surprised or disappointed in the results?

moore, please!

Even before Todd and I got engaged, I started checking Kelly Moore’s calendar at Kelly Moore Photography. I knew that I wanted Kelly to take our engagement pictures, my bridal portraits, and come out to shoot the wedding. The only problem is that we’re getting married in South Carolina and Kelly’s studio is in my hometown, Ruston, Louisiana. Todd and I would have to go there for the engagements, I’d have to go there for the bridals, and we’d bring Kelly out for the wedding. It seemed like a lot of extra work, so I shopped around South Carolina a little bit for another photographer. It was pointless. I looked in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, but didn’t find anyone that I like nearly as much as Kelly. I stalk her blog daily to find her latest work. I’ve even found some of the best wedding ideas through her photo documentation! Kelly took all of the photos that are on the right hand side of our blog. I’m going next Friday to Shreveport, Louisiana to meet Kelly for my bridal portraits. She told me to come fearless and ready to have fun– I’m ready!

I asked Kelly to share some of her favorite photos with me and she was kind enough to do so. Aren’t they amazing?!

And if it’s not enough that Kelly is uber-talented and the best photographer I’ve ever seen, her mother is a phenomenal cake maker and the owner of Moore Cake Please. I took this picture off of Kelly’s blog of one of the cakes by Moore Cake Please.
