sorry so absent!

It’s been a very busy weekend, and I’m actually looking forward to getting back into the regular work week routine. Not because I love my job, but because I like routine.

Friday was fairly low key. I guess it felt busy because I had so many shows to watch on my DVR and those were just one other thing on my to do list to “check” off. Does anyone else get overwhelmed by a full DVR? We ate pizza leftovers and just hung out. That’s pretty much how we spend all of our weekend nights unless something is already planned. We’re watching our pennies and a $50 dinner seems a little silly right now. I completely enjoy spending every night at home– especially when it cools off and we have to bundle up inside using the dogs to warm our feet!

We got up early Saturday morning to take a long walk with Boudreaux, run some errands, then get ready to pre-tailgate, tailgate, and then go to the SC v. LSU game. A friend had lots of family and friends in town from South Louisiana and I enjoyed meeting another Louisiana Tech graduate. We had gumbo and andouille sausage dogs. So yummy. Beginning the tailgate fun at 2:30 for a game that begins at 8:00 p.m. makes for a long day. It was pretty chilly last night at around 55 degrees, so it truly felt like football weather. Todd and I were sitting right next to the LSU band and LSU fans at the game. Of course I was cheering for the Gamecocks, but it was pretty hard not to get wrapped up in all the fun the LSU fans were having.

The Gamecocks had the lead at the half and the score was 17 to 10. Then our Gamecocks didn’t score again in the second half and it all kind of fell apart, but I do feel like we out-played them. Have you ever lost a game, but still felt like you won at the end of the night? The final score was only 17-24 and LSU won, of course, but we played so much better than the Tigers for 80% of the game. It was really a lot of fun and those LSU fans never stopped having a good time. Singing, cheering, screaming. I love Louisiana people!

We made it home around 1:00 a.m. and got to bed around 2:00 a.m. My in-laws were so kind to take care of Boudreaux and Fiona for the day. Our house was divided on Saturday morning getting ready for the game. Todd and I were cheering for the Gamecocks. Fiona, our little South Louisiana native, was cheering for the Tigers. Boudreaux was generally confused and just wanted to play.

i've been tagged

My blog twin, Mojito Maven, tagged me to complete the following little survey. I’m embarrassed to say that because we’re so much alike, some of my answers may be identical to hers. She said it first! Most of the similarities are in the job field and the travel area. That just means that we need to travel together and go into business together.

Top four wishes:
1. To be a natural athlete that enjoys working out!
2. To learn to ballroom dance or Riverdance like a pro.
3. To have all of my loved ones near me every day and to be surrounded by people who love me.
4. To discover (as Steve Martin as “The Jerk” would say) “my special purpose” meaning having a way to contribute every day that makes others as happy as it makes me and vice versa.

Four places I want to travel to:
1. Greece
2. Africa on safari (same as Mojito Maven). I’ve always wanted to see the animals in the natural habitat. Todd is not as excited about this idea as I am.
3. Back to Spain– I missed Madrid the first time around, but Barcelona was amazing.
4. Back to Italy– we only spent one night in Venice and I never got to Rome.

Four careers I want to be involved in:
1. I’d sticking with being an Event Planner, but I’d do it on my own terms and focus on weddings… anyone getting married and need someone to coordinate your big day? (how’s that for shameless self promotion?)
2. Small boutique owner. I’d want amazing fashion that’s hard to come by in a small town and I’d take my size off the rack first and take it home.
3. Professional dog sitter and walker– same as MM— but I am happiest when I’m at home with my doggies and love other people’s doggies, too. Who wouldn’t want to be around unconditional love all day?
4. Stay at home mom/Professional blogger– again I copied my friend with the pro blogger– but these two would go hand in hand.

Four things I would like God to say to me at the gates of Heaven:
1. “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
2. “Your family is right here and they’ve been waiting for you.”
3. “All of your pets are right here, too, and they’ve been waiting for you.”
4. “Let’s take a walk.”

Four people I tag: (so many have already been tagged)
1. A Southern Accent
2. Amy at Chapters
3. Millytini
4. A Glimpse of the Girl Next Door
5. LyndsAU

stealing my thunder?

I went home early today because I wasn’t feeling well. Still feeling a little icky and in a funk since returning from Dallas. I was looking forward to curling up in the bed with the fan on high and taking a long nap.

Then I hear it. The sound of Boudreaux about to heave. Dog owners know what this sounds like. It sounds like you’re shaking a gallon of milk around.

I jump up and it’s too late. He lost his cookies. Or the remains of the tennis ball he’d been chewing on for a few hours. Oops.

I let him outside and he seemed to be fine. I went upstairs and went back to bed. Boudreaux never followed Fiona and me upstairs, so I went back down to check on him where I found that he’d done it again.

I was supposed to be the sick one, but my big guy stole my thunder. Good thing I love him so much.

project runway finale tonight!

The big Project Runway finale is tonight! I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. This show makes me so nervous every week. In the beginning, it’s obvious who they’re going to send home, but it gets so much more emotional when they make it to the end and create entire collections for New York Fashion Week.

Kenley, Korto, and Leanne

photos from Project Runway

I know everyone loves Leanne, and I love her, too, but she’s not my favorite. Her clothes are gorgeous, but her gloomy personality drives me bonkers. Her wedding dress and bridesmaid dress were phenomenal, though.

I’m seriously rooting for Kenley. Her clothes are so much fun and I think she’s gotten the raw deal. I know I could get a lot of backlash from PR watchers for this as Kenley hasn’t always portrayed herself in the most positive light. I just don’t like to see other contestants gang up on someone. It makes me sad.

I haven’t peeked to see what the collections look like online, so tonight’s episode will be a complete surprise.

Who are you rootin’ for?
