the truth comes out

Yesterday morning, I was awakened to the sound of a low, alerting bark from Boudreaux. I sat straight up in bed and scolded him, telling him to hush and go back to sleep. If he had woken Hudson up, I would not have been happy at all. TC just rolled over and was trying to get Boudreaux to be still and go back to sleep, but he wasn’t as irritated as I was.

Last night after Hudson went to bed, TC and I were lying on the couch and the conversation went something like this:

TC: Hey, remember how Boudreaux was barking at 6:00 a.m.?

E: Uhhh, yeah.

TC: Do you know why he was barking?

E: No, why?

TC: Because one of us tooted…

E: WHAT?! Was it me???

TC: (unable to speak through his wheezing laughter) No, it was me! And I thought I’d gotten away with it until Boudreaux started barking.

Orville Redenbacher's Oscar Party: Part 1

I am so excited to share the details from my Oscar party with all of you. This is Part 1 of a two-part blog. Part 2 includes a fabulous giveaway. And when I say fabulous, I mean you absolutely don’t want to miss the chance to enter.

I had so much fun hosting my very first Oscar party, sponsored by Orville Redenbacher’s and their new Pop Up Bowl! It was a small party of 10 people and each of my guests got to take home some fun jewelry, a free Redbox rental, and a box of Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Up Bowls.

We played Oscar BINGO throughout the night and the BINGO card included things like “someone brings mom as their date” and “wardrobe malfunction.” Last night’s awards show had some low moments, so the BINGO kept the party interesting and made it even more fun for us to pay attention.

We also all filled out Oscar ballots and everyone did really well. Maybe this year’s Oscars were really predictable or maybe we just know a good movie and a good actor when we see one!

The menu included The King’s Tea Cookies, The Cupcakes are All Right (red carpet cupcakes!), Shrimp and True Grits, 7 Layer Dream Dip (idea courtesy of my friend Laura based on the different layers of dreams from Inception), and Blackened Swan Wings. And of course we served delicious popcorn from the Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Up Bowl.

The super easy, super clean Pop Up Bowl! Perfect for family movie nights!

We had a great time watching the Oscars with friends and good food. And now I have some really delicious pop corn recipes to share with all of you later in conjunction with the really fun Oscar party swag bag giveaway!

best and worst of the Oscars

I had a great time hosting an Oscar party for Orville Redenbacher’s last night. The prep work was so much fun and I always love hosting people in my home. The Academy Awards are my version of the Super Bowl and I get really into the whole thing.

Before I recap the party, I wanted to share some of my favorites from the Oscars.

Best Dressed

Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein Collection

I love the color and the fit on her. Her blonde hair is perfection and she is perfectly accessorized. I have loved seeing her make the award show circuit and her Grammy and Glee appearances have made me a very happy fan!

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture

She can do no wrong. The color of this dress is absolutely perfect and so beautiful with her skin and hair color.

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein Collection

The simplicity makes such a big statement. She is young and beautiful and with her one simple bracelet, she made such a big statement. I was a huge fan of this whole look for her. And I may take her hair color as inspiration to my next hair appointment.

Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier

I also loved Mandy Moore’s performance dress. I wasn’t able to find a picture this morning, but she wears blue so well. And she sounded great. I think Mandy is a classic beauty with a real body. I love the off-the-shoulder dress and the slight sleeve. The color is regal and elegant and I have just been so happy to see so much of Mandy Moore this year.

Best Moments

Jude Law and RDJ

I liked this moment because I love RDJ. That is all.

Anne Hathaway

I thought she did a fantastic job. She was comfortable (except when she kept touching her stomach while wearing this dress) and poised. I love how theatrical she is and that she was just so excited to be up there! I need Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman to host together. I wasn’t at all impressed with James Franco.

But I loved Anne’s musical number and all of her hairstyles. I loved almost all of her dresses and I was very impressed by her, her age, and her ability to seem comfortable on stage while still seeming grateful and almost star-struck.

What do you love and hate about last night’s show? Who topped your best-dressed list?
