24 weeks and a baby name

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a pregnancy update, so I thought I’d do one now that I’m 24 weeks. My glucose test is next week. My belly and our baby boy are growing rapidly! This pregnancy is rolling along.

I’ve been feeling really good. I’m sore and my legs and hips get tired toward the end of the day. I have a lot of energy during the day, but I fall asleep around 9:30 every night, which is incredibly early for me. Todd and I are night owls and love staying up late watching TV. I fall asleep on the couch almost every night.

I’m sleeping well for the most part. Changing positions is getting to be a challenge, and Todd says I’m snoring now. Whoops. But I do feel rested. Baby boy seems to wake up every morning right when I open my eyes, and then he starts moving all around. (Or maybe it’s his movement that wakes me up and I just can’t really tell.)

I don’t have any specific cravings. I do like sweets, but they leave the worst taste in my mouth after I eat something. I love cheese and I love meat. But no real consistent cravings.

Hudson and Hayes are incredibly excited and talk about the baby all the time. Hudson likes to talk to the baby, and he has been doing the funniest thing. He asks me to open my mouth wide so he can shout into my mouth and the sound travels down to the baby. It’s a very interesting thought process, but it also makes a lot of sense. Despite me telling him that he can talk straight at my belly, he still thinks it makes more sense to talk into my mouth. I just laugh every time!

We’ve officially decided on a name and I thought I’d announce it here. Coming up with a 3rd boy name wasn’t super easy, but we ultimately decided not to use another “H” name. I like a few other “H” names, but none of them seemed right. And I didn’t want to choose a name just because it started with a certain letter. I wanted a name with some meaning and really wanted to use family names again.

We love the name we’ve chosen, and it’s so fun to hear the kids say his name.

baby name

His name is James Walker and we plan to call him James Walker. I hadn’t really ever considered a double name for a boy, but I just loved it when we first said it. James was Todd’s maternal grandfather and Walker is my brother’s name, and my dad’s middle name.

So, we’re pretty excited about our little James Walker! Now we’re ready to start counting down until when we meet him.

What a great name! My grandfather is James Walker and we named our son Walker so I am a big fan of those names!

What a strong name! I absolutely love it. If I lived in the south I would most definitely use double first names. I just love it. We live in Kansas City and had friends move here from Birmingham. Their daughter’s name is Anna James. People were forever calling her Anna. Its like no, It’s Anna James! the midwest isnt used to it.

I have so enjoyed following your journey on this blog. I relate to you in a million ways. We are both petite blondes around the same age. Our love for Jesus, tv, reading, I could go on. Thanks for sharing your story to be an encouragement for others. The times you take a little blog break I find myself saying “amen sister, do what you need to do!” But I always enjoy when you’re back to writing.

And by the way, you look INCREDIBLE in that photo above! 24 weeks looks good on you!

Love following your blog. πŸ™‚ And I love the name you’ve chosen for your new baby. We named our second son “Jonathan Logan,” both family names, and intended to call him “Jon Logan.” And we did. And we live in the south, so double names are pretty common. But once he started school, everyone called him “Logan,” which we also love because it was my maiden name. So now he’s “ONE OF THOSE” who goes by his middle name, which is fine. It’s only frustrating when you have to fill out ALL THE FORMS everywhere you go in life, and they just give you one space for your middle name! πŸ™‚

Love the name! So handsome. I am two weeks behind you with my first baby (a girl) and know how tricky choosing a name can be! Great choice πŸ™‚

What a sweet name! My husband is the fifth James in his family and my father’s middle name was James, so I like to think if we had a boy, he would also be James. It’s old, yet new I think. Can’t wait for his arrival!

There is just something so sweet about a little boy’s middle name. I quite often call mine little one by his first and middle name because it sounds so soothing!

Love, love, love the name you have chosen for baby boy #3! Such a good, strong, meaningful name! And Hudson’s way of talking to the baby is so stinkin’ cute!

LOOOOOVE James Walker!!! Dad’s name is James and I really wanted to use it for Hank, but hated not to use my FIL’s name as well. So Hank would have been Marvin James…..which sounds like an awesome blues singer right?

    You look gorgeous friend!

I am almost 23 weeks, and I’m having some of the same “symptoms.” I’m snoring, and it’s SO DIFFICULT rolling over from side to side in the bed. I mean, out-of-breath tired. And yes – my hips / groin are so tired after working all day. And I’m in bed by 9, and usually asleep well before 10! On Fridays, I head up to bed as early as 8:30. LOVE TO SLEEP! You look fantastic, and I’m so happy for y’all! Love the name, and the sweetness behind it! We’re still debating between about 15 names….sigh.

OH! You look so cute! :o) Y’all are going to have so much fun with No. 3. I expected Jack & Amelia (4 & 6 at Andrew’s birth) to be excited and love Baby Andrew….but it was sooooo much more beyond that. They still (16 months later) are absolutely wild about him. Lots of happy times are in store for y’all!
