September Goals

First things first! Thank you all SO much for your comments, calls, texts, social media comments offering your congratulations on our big news. We are so appreciative and we are so excited!

I am feeling like I’m ready to get back into the swing of things with blogging. Now that our secret is out and the boys are at school, I have a little time to myself in the morning and I can freely talk about what’s going on in our lives.

So reading was always one of my biggest goals every month. I’ve been reading three books a month since January, and love swapping book recommendations with y’all. But since I got pregnant, I cannot quiet my mind. And it’s like I get motion sickness from reading… even when I’m sitting still. (More on my pregnancy symptoms in another post.) And reading has kind of fallen to the wayside in favor of mindless television and late night episodes of Family Feud with Steve Harvey. (I wish I was kidding.)

But I love fall. And even though it’s still 100 degrees here, there is the promise of fall. The grocery stores are selling those yummy spiced cinnamon pine cones and brooms and I. Am. Ready.

september goals

Let’s get right to it. My September goals. Again, nothing super big, but all stuff that I either need to get done or want to get done.

1. Work on Brother Room

Our original plan was to move the guest room to the finished room over the garage and put the nursery in the guest room. We didn’t think we wanted the boys to share just yet. But now we’ve decided to put them together in Hudson’s current room and put the nursery in Hayes’s current room. We had just finished up getting all of Hayes’s bedding together, so now we’ll just get the same bedding for Hudson. I’m so excited!

2. Set up my DVR for Fall Television

Goodness, I can’t believe I put that in writing. But all of our favorite shows are coming back. Scandal, Homeland, The Newsroom, The Good Wife, Dancing With the Stars, and all the college football we’ll be watching. Again, I’ll be lucky if I read at all this month, but I’m going to try!

3. Read Two Books This Month

I’m cutting it back to one book for the sake of grace. Let’s see if I can jump back in the reading saddle. (I will update y’all with what I did read this summer! I crossed two books off my list.)

4. Host a Family for Supper

We’ve done this at least once a month since January and it has become my favorite goal. We have plans with friends this coming weekend.

5. Get Back Into Our Wednesday Routine

AWANA and children’s choir starts back this week at our church on Wednesday nights. Todd and I like to go early for supper, eat together as a family, take the kids to their classes and then attend our pastor’s Bible study together. And then I go to choir rehearsal. It’s one of my favorite nights every week and I’m so excited it’s starting back. I’m looking forward to having dinner with so many of our favorite families.

So those are my goals for the month. Nothing crazy to tackle. We’re back on track with meal planning. Our house is getting back in order after the low key summer. I’m excited about this season!

How about you? What’s on your agenda this month?

I love seeing your goals each month! It is always an encouragement to write my own. Brothers sharing a room is so fun! When we moved into our current home 4 years ago, we decided it was time for our to share. The boys were 3 and 5 at the time, and they were a great ages to put them together! Praying for your pregnancy and a precious healthy baby!

I love all your goals. Your monthly goals are so motivating to me. I really to write some of my own. I love that I am not the only one trying to get back into Wednesday night Bible study. We have been so lax since my son was born (2 and a half years ago)!!! Now, that he has a class to go to, we are trying to get back in the swing of it.

Can I just tell you how much I love that you listed organize DVR for Fall TV as a goal. This is on my to-do list for before the babies come, and I already have a list in my phone of what shows are on what nights and when they premiere… super embarrassing! I love that we share that love for our shows!

Hope you’re feeling a little better. Love your plan for a shared room for the boys!

Yay for Wednesday nights being back. We went last week and it felt so good to have my middle of the week fellowship. Can’t wait to hear all about how you are feeling- I am so excited for you and your crew! xoxo Samma

YAY for goals! There is something about September that really gets me motivated for goals. I just finished a good book called In the Woods – a mystery book with lots of suspense. Not my usual genre but I loved it!

Can I just say one more time how happy I am for you guys and baby #3? Because I am!

Book suggestion: Me Before You! I finished this last month and absolutely loved it. It’s not fluff reading, but it’s also not a hard read. I couldn’t put it down!

I love that you put your goals in writing!
Mine are very similar- reading, hosting, Wednesday night church routine.
And did you say Homeland starts back up this fall? I had heard a nasty rumor that it didn’t start up again until January. YAY!!!
Book suggestion from my August list: The Silver Compass by Holly Kennedy.
I also have made it a goal to cook a couple NEW recipes each month.

Good luck with your second trimester. Such wonderful news 🙂

I grew up doing AWANA and loved it! I still work as an AWANA leader for highschool students. It can have a big impact in your children’s lives. =)

And eek! I need to make sure my DVR is setup for all the shows starting back up.

Fall TV is my favorite. I’m excited for Scandal and The Voice…oh, and Parenthood. Have you thought about trying out the new show that’ll be on following Scandal? (I forget the name of it, but I’m debating.)

I wonder when AWANA starts up for us. I haven’t heard anything at church. Hmm…

Congrats again on the new baby! I feel like lots of pregnancy announcements are going around again, and it’s exciting!

Steve Harvey….so funny. My mom loves to watch Family Feud when he is hosting, too. I believe her exact words were, “When that white-haired host comes on, I change the channel.” I die.

I’m so ready for fall, too! My girls head back to school next week, and I’m looking forward to doing some organizing, fall decorating, and meal planning. Time to dust off the ol’ crockpot and put her to use!

I’m so with you on the book reading/motion sickness while pregnant- but not only books: my iphone, my computer, magazines, you name it! I didn’t read, instagram, blog for almost 2 months! It really will come around, though, and reading won’t make you feel like you’ve been sitting backward in a weird-smelling bus for four hours. Best luck!!

Also in my phone I have the date programmed for when the Christmas movies begin on Hallmark Channel. I am so happy fall is coming and that college football has started. Can’ ‘t wait for hot chocolate season to arrive.

These are great goals. No doubt you’ll knock them out! I should start posting my goals for a little accountability. And maybe it’d help me not to just completely lose track of them in the midst of everyday life. Great idea!
