Orange Beach 2014

Even though school doesn’t start for another two weeks, I thought it was time to dust off the computer, upload all of the summer pictures, and record some of our favorite summer memories. I know I’ve had a handful of sponsored posts this summer and very little personal content, and I don’t want any of you to feel like I don’t care anymore. I do care. I’ve just had very little time to myself this summer, so blogging hasn’t been high on my list of things to do.

Back in June, we went to Orange Beach, Alabama with my parents, my cousins and their families. It was the very best week I can remember in a long time.

We had so many helping hands and playmates for the kids and it was such a relaxing week because of it. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw a lot of this trip already.

We had six kids under six on this trip, and it was so much fun watching them all get to know each other better.

When we go to the beach, we spend as much time on the beach as we can every day. We usually have a big breakfast, eat sandwiches for lunch on the beach, and stay on the beach until 5:00 p.m. before we cook supper in the condo. The kids nap in the middle of the day between trips to the beach and back to the pool and lazy river, and we all take turns sitting inside with them. It is full relaxation.

We found sand dollars and tons of shells to bring back home. We walked the beach every afternoon and got the kids good and worn out.

Todd and I went fishing early one morning with my uncle and my cousins’ husbands. I was the only female on that trip, but I really wanted to go. It was the most beautiful day and we saw so many dolphins! Which also meant we didn’t catch very many fish. Just a couple of tiny fish that we just threw back. But it was such a fun morning!

Hudson’s fifth birthday was on June 5th, so we started the morning with donuts and presents and he got to spend the day on the beach and in the condo watching his favorite movies while playing with his new toys.

We went out to eat at Sunset Grille in Perdido Key for Hudson’s birthday. We brought our Ninja Turtle cake from Publix and celebrated there. We loved watching the sunset over the intracoastal waterway and the kids loved the playground after supper.

After cooking for five nights and then going to Sunset Grill, we decided to go to Cobalt the last night, where we also celebrated my cousin’s birthday. We had eaten at Cobalt last year, too, but it was a lot better this year for some reason. We had a great last night there.

It was a fantastic week, and I’m already counting down the days until we go back next year. It’s just our little piece of heaven on earth.

We go to Perdido Key every year (sometimes more – my parents have a condo down there) and LOVE Sunset Grill and Cobalt. A new favorite for us is the Jellyfish Bar. They just redid their menu and have great sushi and entrees. It doesn’t look like much but it tastes GOOD.

We ate at Cobalt this summer and loved it! Food was delicious, very reasonably priced and kid friendly. We’ll return there for sure. I can’t believe ya’ll had six under six!!

Hey Katie! I would check vrbo. You definitely want beach front in orange beach because you have to cross a really busy road otherwise. We like having pools for the kids because they get sick of the sand some days, so a pool is important to us. If you can find a house on the beach that will accommodate all of you, I think you’ll love it.
