Books I Read in March

I’m still on a roll with my New Year’s resolution to read more. And this month I loved loved loved what I read. Seriously… why do I ever fall off the reading wagon? It relaxes me so much!

The Anteloupe in the Living Room by Melanie Shankle

This is such a great book of essays by the writer of the hilarious Big Mama Blog. If you’re not reading Melanie’s blog you absolutely should start now. The stories are so relatable and I found myself laughing out loud every five minutes and then reading entire chapters aloud to Todd. This is an easy, quick read full of real stories of marriage. I highly recommend it!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Oh my word. I read this entire book on my flight to California a couple of weeks ago. I couldn’t put it down. It was a fast read because the characters were written so brilliantly. I could hear them and see them and wanted to know them more. It’s such a sweet story full of passion and it honestly made me think very differently about life. Hurry up and read this one before you see the movie!

The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty

I am so happy to say that I loved all the books I read this month, which means it will be easy to continue this reading habit into April. The Husband’s Secret is so well-written and has the slightest bit of suspense and drama, and it connects these three incredible female characters together in a dark way. I can’t say much more without giving big things away. So just read it! I loved this one.

In April, I’m planning to re-read A Million Little Ways by Emily Freeman, Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple, and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. We’ll see if I don’t change my mind and switch to something else.

What have you been reading?

We have the same reading lists! I just finished What Alice Forgot and will read The Husband’s Secret soon. Interested as to what you think of Where’d You Go Bernadette, I read it last year.

The Fault in Our Stars, where do I start?! So excited for the movie!

I tried two times to read The Husband’s Secret….I was bored out of my mind. I was over 150 pages in and couldn’t take it one more minute so I stopped reading (which I never do).

I LOVED The Secret Keeper, The Shoemaker’s Wife, and The Pecan Man. LOVE LOVE LOVED these books. And I loved The Fault in Our Stars.

    🙂 I LOVE TO READ.

I LOVE getting good book suggestions! If I could read for a living, I would do it in a second. I will get all of these downloaded to the kindle today! I’m currently reading The Alchemist, and next up is Love Does. Happy Friday!

Oh I read what Alice forgot and LOVED it! Someone mentioned her other book and I never picked it up! I’ll have to do that in April. I too loved Big Mama’s book as well as fault in our stars. Where’d you go Bernadette is another quick read because it’s written well. Thanks for sharing! I love seeing others’ reading lists!

I loved the Antelope in the Living Room. I recently picked up Moonrise by Cassandra King and Revenge wears Prada. I can’t get through either one- blech. So disappointing.

I adored Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline! Try The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Liane Moriarty. I enjoyed her two other books as well.

I just finished. The Husband’s Secret last night! I couldn’t put it down! Finished it in two days. It was so good and so well written. I’m on the library waiting list for What Alice Forgot. Can’t come soon enough! Maybe I’ll finish Where’d You Go, Bernadette. I started breezing through it a while back and then got stuck. I need to give it another chance because so many people loved it.

I just finished Glitter and Glue by Kelly Corrigan. What a treasure of a book. It is about the relationship between a mother and daughter. I also enjoyed her prior book, The Middle Place.

I loved Sparkly Green Earrings but I have yet to read Antelope. Soon! I just re-read TFIOS. The first time I positively HATED it (teenagers DO NOT talk like that!) and thought the people who were raving about it must have had their brains sucked out by zombies or something. HOWEVER, on my second read I was able to get past the language (which still made me wince) and look more heavily into the meaning behind the tragic story. I am currently reading Redeeming Love (after hearing a ton about it for years) and am enjoying it so far. Way behind the times, I know!
