Snow!

I’ve lived in Columbia, South Carolina for ten years. (Let’s not talk about how it’s been ten years since I started graduate school.) Columbia is known for being “Famously Hot.”

When I was pregnant with Hayes we had a pretty decent little snow the day after Christmas. And then it snowed a couple of weeks ago when we were at Disney World. We were a little bummed to have missed it because it almost never happens here.

But then, yesterday, we had another snow day! (We had a lot of ice, too.) And it’s snowing again today. This is just unheard of for where we live, and this was my boy’s first time to really play in the snow.

We moved to Indiana from Louisiana when I was in the 8th grade, so for five years, I experienced what it’s like to live with some serious snow. My parents live in Indiana and have been surrounded by snow for months. But when it happens here, everything shuts down. We don’t have the plows but we are thankful that it will melt in a few days.

And Boudreaux is content to settle down by the fire.

In the meantime, though, my kids and I want to make the most of it because it may be a long time before we see it again.

Were you in the middle of yesterday’s snow storm, too?

At least y’all planned ahead and have decent snow gear for your kids! We’re in a Dallas suburb and this winter has been brutal–my poor kids have been layering and layering for weeks on end. And of course next year I’ll buy them parkas and it’ll be 60 all winter (which is what it usually is!). Enjoy the snow day! I’m kind of jealous but then I remember that it’s supposed to be 70 this weekend and I’m okay with it.

It looks like is was so much fun for everyone! My son has never seen snow and I think it will blow his little mind when he does. I bet one of the best parts was coming back into the cozy house and cuddling up!

This is so sweet! We’ve got plenty of snow here in Minnesota, so I’m happy not to be dealing with a snowstorm…but how fun for your boys! Glad you captured the day!

I’m from Texas but have lived in Boston for the past (almost) 7 years– time flies when you’re having fun! I spent so. many. nights. perched at our living room window growing up, just PRAYING for snow, and I would get so excited when the weatherman came through and we’d have even just a touch of the white stuff when I woke up the next morning. This winter has by far been the most snowy of my last six winters, but I just cannot find myself able to complain! Everyone tells me I’ll get sick of the snow, and yes, it’s not fun to drive in or have to shovel your car out, but there’s just something so magical about seeing it fall, and something so fun about playing in it! So happy your boys got to experience a good ole snow day at home 🙂

And that picture of you Boudreuax is just far too sweet!

What a blessing to have captured these moments with your kiddos! These are great pictures and the boys look so incredible happy! And I’m drooling over those fuchsia Hunters!

We have snow/ice here too! I have opted to stay inside, though, because most of it is ice, and I just know I will bust my butt when I walk down the sidewalk. Glad y’all had so much fun!

You are so adorable and the smile on Hayes could light up a super dark room – love it! Speaking of love, where did you get your round coffee table…I think I need one!

The snow down there is beautiful!! I’m from NC, so I definitely know what it’s like to finally have some snow in the South (and subsequent lack of knowing how to deal with the snow!) – so, so fun! I live in DC, and we got a foot of snow overnight, with more to come this afternoon!

Normally I would be so excited about all the snow we got last night. However, I just want to sleep! HA! Life with a newborn and a barely 2 year old with school cancelled does not a happy Samma make. I am glad y’all could appreciate and enjoy it- so beautiful and fun.

We live in Central Texas (just outside of Austin). We haven’t had any substantial snow but we have had four or five winter weather advisories with varying amounts of freezing rain, sleet, and snow flurries. It’s been an exceptionally cold winter for us. I’m looking forward to spring!

I love your coffee table and sectional! I’ve been looking for one exactly like that. Would you mind sharing where you purchased them? Thanks!! 🙂
