  19. PJ says

I’m finally (after many advanced degrees and moving to complete them) in a location that will probably be long-term and am SO excited to actually decorate. I never really put effort into it before because I was too busy with the end of the semester and knowing that anything I bought would eventually have to be moved. Plus, I’m creativity challenged, so I love to see what great ideas other people have! And though I don’t have kids, I have a lot of pregnant friends that could use the Dr. Smiths.

  20. Laura Toler says

We have our first “real tree” this year for the first time in 10 years. We are so excited. I like Dr. Smith’s for my grandchildren.

  21. Jenny R. says

I love love love my Christmas tree- it’s filled with ornaments that my parents collected for me yearly since infancy, ones we’ve added since marriage and our own daughters, ones we’ve picked up while traveling. Each one tells a story and it is so fun to reminisce and relive all those special times.

I love hanging mistletoe each year…I always remember doing this with my grandparents and it is a fun tradition to continue in my own home!

  23. Jenice says

We pick out a new ornament each year. And we write the highlights of that year on a glass ornament. While putting up the tree, we always get to remember the many things from the year before.

  24. says

Each family member picks out a new ornament each year, so it’s always fun to go back at ornaments from past years. I also love Christmas lights!!!

  25. Christine says

My favorite memories are the new ones I’m making with my children, this weekend we made gingerbread men and decorated them!

  26. Julie says

I love to hang up the manger scene advent calendar my mom made in the seventies. Each Sunday, we add more items to the scene. Such great memories.

  27. Micah says

I like to string lights in several places inside my house — my kids love it (and they can’t easily destroy lights!). And Christmas-smelling candles are non-negotiable.

  28. Nicki says

We love to pick out a real Christmas tree for the living room each year, which is decorated with “mommy’s pretty things.” The girls have their own tree with all of their fun ornaments!

  29. Geoff K says

I love using a lot of retro decorations from the 50s and 60s — they remind me of the way my house was done up when I was a kid, and there’s something really nostalgic and fun about using those “antique” lights, ornaments, and signs around the house.

  30. Brittany says

I started a photo-ornament tree when we first got married. We put pictures up on that tree that are such treasures year after year. Our kids get so excited when they see their baby/toddler/preschool pics come out. They really love seeing us in pics from 12 years ago. The tree is almost full so I think I can do a regular size photo-ornament tree next year 🙂

  31. Tari Lawson says

I like to keep it simple; a Christmas tree with a unique collection of ornaments, Dicken’s villages and a decorated stairwell.

  32. Heather says

I love decorating our tree! We will probably start decorating outside too once the kids are a little older! Thanks so much!

  33. Rebecca says

The tree is my favorite. We have lots of special ornaments and add to our collection each year. It’s the first thing we decorate so it always kicks off the season for us.

  34. Catherine says

My parents have given me an ornament every Christmas since I was a baby. I love getting them out every year and hanging them on our tree. I am starting that tradition with my daughter.

  35. Letty C. says

My motto is “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” and we get an ornament for the tree. Putting up the tree is my favorite way to decorate because we go down memory lane.

  36. karen says

In addition to the tree and fireplace mantle decorations, one of the things that we do for the kids is have their own set of “hands-on” Christmas decorations, including a nativity set, Santa’s house, and toy workshop. We like the Playmobil sets that are very detailed and creative!

  37. JenGa says

We go crazy with decorations even though our space is small. We have a 7 1/2 ft tree all decked out, Christmas penguins, Santas, candles, and beautiful linens. It is the one time of year we go all out to decorate!

  39. Katy says

  40. Brittany says

I love keeping the decorations classic in color while adding modern touches. I love all things red, green, silver, and gold!

  41. Joan C says

A live Christmas tree and decorations that have special meaning to me…the nativity scene we received at our wedding…special stockings made by grandma…and continuing the Christmas traditions that I grew up with!

  42. Danielle H. says

A tree is a must…..a real tree! We live in Arizona but I refuse to get a fake one. This year we have a huge gate/fence around the tree to keep out our 11 month old babygirl which doesn’t make our 3 year old babygirl very happy!

  43. Ash says

I think with holiday decor, the simpler, the better – white fairy lights twinkling away, white candles accented with holly and wrapped in green/red felt, green garlands on the stairway…and viola – magic!

  44. rebecca shockley says

Light’s on the window’s and around the railing of the staircase, near the fireplace!!! It only comes once a year, so I say do it up!!!

  45. says

Decorating for Christmas is so special! We recently moved to NYC and I am missing decking the halls (inside and out!) with Christmas cheer. I did manage to bring a few favorites with us, such as our snow village, and of course the special ornaments to put on our tree.

  46. Natalie says

I love to decorate while listening to Christmas carols, sipping hot cocoa, and having the fire lit (even if it isn’t cold here in CA). I also love to watch Christmas movies with my family afterwards. It is such a special time of year.

  47. HeatherM says

We haven’t started decorating for Christmas yet. My husband is a college professor, so he is always busy with finals this time of year. We wait until he is done with finals so he can be a part of the Christmas decorations. We keep it pretty simple- a pre-lit tree, ornaments mostly made of our memories as a family, some garland, stockings, and if we’re lucky some lights outside. This year we have a ton of snow outside that isn’t going away any time soon, so mother nature has already started to decorate for us!

  48. Jenn M. says

We start decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving. We have a 10 foot tree that is decorated in all white, mostly snowman ornaments.

  49. KayDee says

The older I’ve gotten, the simpler my Christmas decor has gotten. I like big pieces that make a statement. This is the BEST time of the year. 🙂

  50. Caroline says

I love a fresh tree and lots of white lights!! We are decorating ours tonight as a family and I look forward to this tradition every year. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

  51. Megan Sweeney says

I LOVE to decorate my kitchen for Christmas! I have this cooking Santa that I leave out. My family used to have this Santa cookie jar, but I broke it one year getting cookies. Whoops! I also love decorating my mantle. This may sound a little neurotic, but I also love our manger, because I love to hide Baby Jesus and make my family search for him, haha.

  52. says

my favorite way to decorate for christmas is a way that isn’t too fussy and doesn’t take too much time! i love simple lights, sentimental ornaments, a fake tree but real wreaths and garlands. pine candles!

  53. MG says

My favorite way to decorate for Christmas is to take it slowly and do it bit by bit. First the Advent things, then the Christmas lights and decorations, and then trimming the tree. And then I leave it all up for the full 12 days of Christmas. It makes a long winter brighter and cozier.

  54. Nataly Carbonell says

I like lights, glitter and color all around the house. I also like my house to smell really good, I love to pine tree smell!

  55. Janice Cooper says

We have hanukkah lights and a few jelly letters that we place on our windows. We also have a big happy hanukkah banner.

  57. Valerie S says

We decorate with many handmade items my family has made over the years. Every item has it’s own set of memories that go with it.

  60. Tiffany Hearn says

We start with a real tree decorated with ornaments made by my kids. I also love Santa and snowmen knick knacks.

  61. says

I love glittery, shiny and bright. Due to a horrible Nov (hospitalized) we’re doing low key this year, and instead of a tree we decorated the Christmas Archie, a life sized suit of (tarnished) armor with tons of lights, garland and baubles. 😉

  62. Candie L says

i would have to say Lazy. We always try to say we will do it tomorrow and procrastinate as much as possible. (never works). Thank you
