So December is here.
How in the world did that happen?
I am overwhelmed by the feeling of longing and a feeling of contentment. My heart is battling my head’s desire to do it all. To make all the memories. To bake all the treats and to complete all the things on the bucket list.
I haven’t displayed my beautiful advent calendar yet. I haven’t wrapped any gifts.
We are closing on our house this afternoon. A major thing that we’ve been waiting for since November of last year. And despite all the excitement surrounding that, I am overwhelmed with expectancy for Christmas.
The need for the Savior. The grace of that perfect Gift.
So come, thou long-expected Jesus. Come.
I’ve prayed daily for the reminder of how much we need Him. The realization that without Him, we have nothing.
This season of waiting that we’ve been in for the past year was about more than waiting on a house. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I have been humbled to the bones by His grace in the midst of my selfishness.
And as we wait and prepare for Christmas Day in this season of Advent, we’re praising Him. For the gifts. For the opportunity. For the grace. And for this season of giving.

One of my favorite tunes. This is my favorite version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djc_cT6cwlU
Congrats on closing on your home today!
Oh thank you for sharing this, friend! I haven’t heard this arrangement. Loving it! I love Christy Nockels and Christ Tomlin’s version a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbMwD24flbA
I’ve been thinking back to your White Space posts so much lately and as we enter into the Christmas season. {I’m with you, I have no idea where December came from!}. I’m so tempted to feel the pressure of doing something festive and creating tons of memories, but I’m making myself take a step back before we put anything on the calendar. I hope your closing goes well today and that your move in will be a special time of celebrating God’s faithfulness to you this past year!
Truly, Sarah, I’m just so overwhelmed. I feel a little nervous today as we wait and just. So. Full. Of. Gratitude. Thank you for your comment. Praying for a beautiful Christmas season for you and your family.
I’ve been loving and connecting with this exact song! Such a beautiful hymn. Happy advent of patience and excitement and love!
Your words are like honey to my soul 🙂 Congratulations on the house…can’t wait to see what memories you have waiting!
Congratulations on the house! So exciting 🙂
My relationship with God has been very strained lately…clearly my fault, not His! This post spoke to me…I definitely need the reminder of how much I need Him, but I’ve not been praying for it. I will start today. Thank you 🙂
Blogs really need a “like” or a “love” button when there’s nothing to add to the conversation, except a nod of the head and an agreement in your heart! 🙂
Love that hymn- one of my all time favorite. It always sets my mind and heart in the right place.
Thank you so much for this beautiful blog entry. I appreciate your vulnerability about the bittersweetness of life.
Love this hymn. Love your heart!
What a beautiful hymn! I play piano so I may just add this to my Christmas play list! Man…your blog rocks!
So true… love hymns, especially around Christmas time!
