"This is it. Don't get scared now."

1. I think the thing I’ve been most looking forward to with the move is getting to decorate for Christmas. Seriously, if we had moved into the house the first week of November, I think I would have gone ahead and put up my Christmas tree. I’m so excited for Christmas! (And we absolutely love Thanksgiving, but putting up Christmas decor takes a lot of time… I want to enjoy it for as long as possible.) But, alas, we’re still at Nana’s house, so I’ve decided not to put up a tree here and just wait until we get to our house. (We did put up a tree at Nana’s last year after I couldn’t hold out any longer.)

2. I kept the boys home from school today. The stomach bug is going around, and I didn’t want to take even the slightest risk that Hudson and Hayes would get the stomach bug before we drive 11 hours tomorrow to Indiana.

3. The Gamecocks made us proud on Saturday. We won’t be going to the Clemson/Carolina game next weekend. We gave our tickets to my brother. Todd has never seen the Gamecocks beat Clemson in person, so his superstitious nature tells him to stay home so the Gamecocks will win!

4. It’s also worth noting that the Gamecocks haven’t lost to Clemson since Hudson was born. Our little good luck charm!

5. I’m not a Black Friday person. I’m an introvert. I don’t like crowds. Shopping online is my jam. In 31 Thanksgivings, I have never shopped on Black Friday. And when all those committed shoppers are lining up on Thanksgiving night, I’m cleaning the kitchen and gearing up to watch Christmas Vacation.

6. We’re heading to my parents’ house tomorrow with my in-laws and Nana. My brother is there, too. We’ll all be together this year! And I think we’re all looking forward to the chocolate pie, sweet potato casserole and broccoli cheese and rice. Yum!

7. Did I mention the dogs are coming with us? Our car will be a zoo!

8. Hopefully you understood the Home Alone reference in the title.

It’s the official start of the holiday season! I’m so excited! I’ve got the spirit.

I hope you have a wonderful trip! I made the chili from the kit you recommended earlier this fall and it was fantastic!! We had just gotten a little cold snap in Texas — perfect chili weather. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!

You had me at the title – Home Alone is one of my favorite movies of all time!

Girlfriend – good luck with the drive. I know y’all will rock it, but I also know what you’re in for. You’re about to make some pretty fun memories! 🙂

Probably a very wise call of not taking your boys to school. The stomach bug is here too and I just pray we don’t get it….or if we do that we get it before Christmas. I am so with you on the Black Friday shopping. I have gone a couple of times in the past but it’s NEVER been worth it. Now I value my sleep and my sanity a lot more. The hubs and I will be shopping on Saturday but that’s just because it’s about the only day we will get to go together and pick out the kids stuff. Since there are only 4 Saturdays before Christmas!!!

You made me laugh out loud – “Online shopping is my Jam!” – I can totally relate 😉 I think we will join you in cleaning the kitchen and watching Christmas Vacation Thanksgiving night 😉

Hope you have a wonderful week! 🙂

Ha! I just get so overwhelmed in stores. Online I can compare prices and see things outside of the box. And my husband and I even look together online to pick out stuff for the kids 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I’m so excited for the holiday season, too! I just can’t wait! I should tell you that every Clemson Carolina game I’ve attended, Clemson has won. And every Carolina bowl/SEC game I’ve gone to, Carolina has lost. I think I’m their bad luck charm! You can tell Todd that this bad luck charm won’t be at the game Saturday night!

Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friend, and safe travels! 🙂

Oh, how I love online shopping. I used to Black Friday shop with my mom, I always enjoyed spending time with her, but the crowds made my anxiety soar. Give me the comforts of my home and a laptop, and I’ll Christmas shop with the best of them 🙂

Also, Braylen watched Home Alone and then informed that “Kevin is a big jerk.” 🙂

    Safe travels, friend!

  8. Immeasurably More Mama says

We choose to stay home Thanksgiving night too. The house/ kitchen are straightened and cleaned and then we watch the original Miracle on 34th Street. 🙂 This is my kind of Black Friday fun. Oh, and I shop online sometimes for deals!

The thought of going out on Black Friday makes my skin crawl. I’m the gal who gets up early on Saturdays early to be at Target when they open at 8 just so I can shop in silence and peace. If I want the deal, I will try to get it online and have it shipped to my door. Plus, there’s no good reason to stand out in the cold waiting. Brrr
