where I impress you all with my love for television

Sometimes a blog just needs a day to lighten up a little.

Aside from September bringing football season and the promise of fall on the horizon, it brings the next great thing about fall. That’s the start of a new TV season.

I wish I could assure you all that I’m a really intelligent book worm and I don’t waste my time with TV. But, the truth is, I do waste a lot of time with TV. I stay up ridiculously late and catch up on my DVR almost every night.

I do love to read, but I can’t deny my love for great television.

So here’s what I’m looking forward to this fall.

1. Homeland

Please. Subscribe to Showtime just for the next Homeland season. But don’t try to watch this show unless you’ve seen the other seasons. This is one of the only shows that Todd and I watch together, and we just love it.  The season ended on a crazy note, and I’m still holding out hope that Saul is the greatest character ever written.

2. Scandal

I got hooked on this one this summer. I can’t believe I wasn’t always watching it. I love Olivia Pope and all of her white outfits. And the bad guy from Ghost sure does play a great President.

3. Parenthood

Another one that I got hooked on last year. I weep during every single episode. It’s just so good. I want four children because I want their quirky, weird, loving family. And Kristina and Adam are my fave!

4. Nashville

What is going to happy with Tami Taylor and Deacon? Or Rayna James. Won’t she always be Tami Taylor? Seeing Lennon and Maisy every week is enough reason to watch Nashville!

5. Revenge, Grey’s Anatomy, Glee

I stopped watching these three shows at some point last season, and would like to catch up. I didn’t like the new New Directions. I was weirded out after the super depressing plane crash. And the Revenge plot just confused me, and all the Emily/Amanda/Emily stuff was making my head spin. But I’m going to catch up and give them another go!

6. Dancing With the Stars

Yes. It’s true. I love watching it. I especially love watching when I can fast forward through commercials and some of the fluffy stuff. It’s just a fun, mindless one for me. I give it a 10.

I don’t even know what new shows are coming on this season.

So, how about you? What are you excited to see return and what’s new that you plan to watch?

I watch Revenge and Nashville, too, but I agree about Revenge. Too much was going on plot-wise, so I hope they simplify things this season.

I’m looking forward to watching How I Met Your Mother, although I’m sad it’s the last season. Other shows I love to watch: Once Upon a Time and Elementary. A new TV show I’m looking forward to watching: The Shield.

I don’t know if you have the Starz channel but the miniseries The White Queen is very good. It’s based on books by Philippa Gregory.

I’ll have to check out Scandal.

Girl….. We watch about ALL of the same shows, LOL! This post made me even more excited about Fall TV. I’m excited to check out the new Michael J. Fox comedy, and the show “Super Fun night” coming this Fall with the girl from movie Bridesmaids and movie Pitch Perfect who is super hilarious. I’m thinking I might check out the new show Betrayal. I like Revenge and Scandal, so thinking I might like it, haha! 🙂 Also, be sure to check out the new show called Blacklist with Jason Spader. The lead actress is Megan Boone and our family personally knows her and my mom works with her mom. We are thrilled that this show is most likely going to give her the big break she definitely deserves. It’s going to be on NBC. As you can tell, I’m a total TV nerd 🙂

Ditto what Lauren said about “Super Fun Night”! I think I’m going to give it a try!

I’m so excited for the return of The Walking Dead, Nashville, Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family and Downton Abbey (in Jan)!

I think Revenge is supposed to return to its season one goodness this year. If you saw/see the finale, I think you’ll see where they want to go with the story and it’s very promising.

We are currently neck-deep into Breaking Bad. We basically put our entire life on hold for 3 weeks to catch up. There is so much left to resolve in 4 episodes! Other than that, Nashville definitely and kinda Glee. I usually DVR it and watch it while I’m folding laundry. I also love The Mindy Project and have decided to stream Downton this season online instead of waiting. (Rage Against the Minivan has a way to do it legally.) We haven’t gotten into Scandal, but may need to. There is just so much football and basketball that “must” be watched, that it’s hard to keep up with regular shows.

I love Homeland. I also stopped watching Glee (a couple seasons ago) and Revenge this season. It just got too weird. But maybe I’ll give it another go.

The show I’m most excited about is The Mindy Project (LOVE IT), as well as Parks & Rec, The Good Wife, amd Modern Family. Veep too but that won’t be back until mid-season.

As for new shows, I’m out of the loop too but I did see a promo for a new one with Michael J. Fox that looks cute.

Dying for Homeland to come back. Big cliffhangers on my longtime fave, Law & Order:SVU and The Good Wife. I’m going to binge watch Scandal … I hear so much about it!!

I LOVE Parenthood, Nashville, Scandal and Grey’s! I can’t ever stop watching Grey’s! It’s m fave!!! Yang won’t be coming back after this season and I can’t imagine it without her! 🙁 Ahhhhh! Revenge started to get annoying to me but I kept watching anyway! Ha! My love of tv is hilarious! I have to cut shows out because I can’t find the time to watch them all these days! My busy tv schedule! Haha!

I’m a newer reader and have never commented, but when the topic is TV 🙂 I’m currently on maternity leave and have never been so excited for feedings because… I just started watching Scandal. And, I’m hooked. 4 days into this and I’m halfway through the 2nd season. I also watch Homeland, Grey’s, Nashville, HIMYM, Revenge, The League, Breaking Bad, and Mindy Project. I just caught up on Revenge, and if you just watch the last 15 minutes of the finale, you’ll be caught up enough to want to see what happens next. New shows, football, and boots- bring on the Fall!

I cannot wait for Parenthood to return!! Definitely a favorite of mine! And of course Homeland 🙂

Others I am excited about….Parks and Rec! And I would say Breaking Bad, but it has already started!

Erin, I have been thinking about television ever since your FB post last night. So funny. And I noticed that you don’t have any sitcoms in your list. You have GOT to start watching New Girl and The Mindy Project. Those are really the only two sitcoms I’ll watch (I do watch Community with my husband). I think you’d like at least these two because a lot of the humor is feminine in nature (Mindy is a hilarious girlie-girl) or about relationships. New Girl was great from the first episode; Mindy took a few episodes but they got into their groove. Check ’em out!

#cannotwaitforPARENTHOOD and the new Michael J Fox show!!! My mom has been begging me to start watching Revenge and Shan is addicted to Homeland. So I may have just added 2 more to my list! I’m so over the lame summer programming. Bring on the season premiers!!!!

  13. says

I’m ashamed to admit I love TV, too! I want to start watching Scandal, but I agree Homeland is easily the best show on TV. Right now my guilty pleasure is catching up on The Good Wife!

  14. says

We are HUGE Homeland fans too and get showtime for this purpose only! I’m dying to see what happens with Carrie-Brody this season. And, I love Nashville! It”s my favorite 🙂

There are some days I think I watch tv lol. Can’t wait for Grey’s Anatomy to come back, Law & Order SVU, Top Chef, CSI, & Grimm. Oh and Heart of Dixie!

I am a self-proclaimed TV junkie! I can’t get enough and always have all of the DVRs going to tape my shows. I am usually so busy though so I get behind on watching everything.

I had to comment on this post, because I never put it together that the President is really the guy from Ghost until you said it…

    Mind Blown!
