brain dump and catch up

I feel like I’ve got so much to say, but not enough for a big blog post!

1. The boys’ Peter Pan extravaganza was this weekend and it was so much fun! If I can get my act together I’ll blog about it this week.

This may have been my very favorite part of the party!

2. My parents were here this weekend for the birthday party. Having my whole family together for the weekend was fantastic. I really can’t think of anything better. I love this picture of my mom and Hayes on FaceTime on Mother’s Day. It’s so hard to be 800 miles away from my parents, but technology makes it a lot easier.

3. Walker was here last week, too, and the boys loved playing with him! We had a Bojangles picnic outside in the yard and really loved the pleasant temperatures last week.

3. Hudson had a soccer game last week and received his very first trophy. He was so excited! He has really done a great job this season and has learned a lot about the game. It’s been a big commitment for all of us, but I’ve loved watching him improve and get more into the game. And he loves seeing all of his friends.

And the sweet little JV team of 1 and 2 year olds cheering on their brothers and sisters from the sidelines!

4. I finished Scandal. I watched Season 1 and Season 2 from start to finish in about a week’s time. And then I was able to watch the finale the night it aired. And now I don’t really know what to do with myself. I am missing Olivia Pope! If you haven’t watched Scandal, do it this summer! I even got KK hooked and she watched the whole thing, too. Watch it now!

5. I’m trying to find a new show to watch with Todd this summer. Maybe House of Cards on Netflix? I feel like we’ve seen everything else!

6. The second floor of our house is being framed name. It’s so exciting to watch it all come together. I am going to answer all of your questions about it in a blog post. I currently have a large white farm sink sitting in Nana’s garage. The sink was one of our big “must haves.”

7. We haven’t booked our summer vacation yet and I’m itching to pull the trigger to get back to Isle of Palms!

8. Our Sunday School class had an indoor picnic yesterday after church and then we had a big family game of kickball. It was so much fun! I was on “Hayes duty,” but Hayes just wanted to be in the outfield with his Daddy. He was so excited to get to be a part of the team.

9. Todd and I went to the Carrie Underwood concert a few weeks ago and had the best time. This was our second time to see her and she is just as amazing as ever. She belts it out all night long and looks absolutely stunning. I just love her!

10. I love this side-by-side comparison of Hayes in the first week of school and in the last week of school. I can’t believe how much he has grown up!

11. Don’t forget about Build ‘Em Up tomorrow. We’ll announce more topics soon because we’ve loved keeping this going and connecting with so many of you! Tomorrow’s topic is all about our parenting differences and we should be confident in motherhood.

Nick and I were just talking last night about what our summer DVD series was going to be, and decided on Scandal! I’ve heard so many good things about it, but I know we’ll get through it all too quickly! We need something else to watch too!

That birthday party looks like so much FUN ~ can’t wait to hear more about it!! And i totally hear ya on it being tough to be far from family. Your little guys soccer pics take me back to when our oldest started playing when he was 4 ~ so cute!!! =)

We were just debating what to watch as our “summer” show and decided on Dr. Who…we have a bunch of friends (or Whovians, lol) who rave about it. We’re two episodes in and really enjoying it so far. If you didn’t watch Fringe when it was on that’s on Netflix; that was probably my absolute favorite show from the last five years. It seems like its a creepy sci-fi but at its core it’s about people and relationships. We are die hard DVRers (we got a first generation TiVo when it first came out and never looked back) and that’s the one show we almost always watched live because we just couldn’t wait.

I know I’m going to love your house! I know I’m going to love to see birthday party pics!
I just started scandal per your suggestion! HOC is dark and twisted but really good.

Cracking up over the picture of your mom & Hayes! Too funny! Love all the house progress on Instagram and can’t wait to hear more about it!

We’ve been trying to think of a summer series to watch too, especially since so many of our favorites from this year just ended/were cancelled. Have you watched Nashville yet? I am obsessed!! I keep hearing people rave about Scandal, so I think it’s going to be one of the next things we watch. And like someone else mentioned, I think we’re going to try Dr Who, I just don’t know where to start with it because it’s been on forever!

HOC is really good. Darker than Scandal which is one of my favorites. So glad so many have found it. Olivia Pope’s outfits alone are worth the watch. I’ve just started Mr. Selfridge on PBS. I love Jeremy Pivens and so far I’m hooked.

House of Cards! YES!!! It is addicting. My husband and I are itching for the next season. Kevin Spacey is brilliant and I haven’t seen Robin Wright is anything better.

I can’t wait for your home update! We’re thinking of building and I want to know realistic expectations.

I LOVE Scandal. Some of our other absolute Netflix favorites have been House of Cards (SO addictive) and Downton Abbey. We got really into Jericho too.

We just moved into a new house a couple of months ago, and one of the most complimented items is the big, white, farm sink. You’ll love it!

The boys’ birthday cake looks amazing!!!! Yummy. Can’t wait to see more party pictures.

That’s great that Hudson is getting more into soccer. DG’s little boy played for the 2nd season this year and while he likes going, he still doesn’t totally get how to play. We try to practice with him on our own, but I wish the coach would actually coach because it’s a lot different to teach when there are a bunch of kids on the field vs. our backyard! I also worry because he is so tender hearted and not at all aggressive on the field. He worries about needing to “take turns” to kick the ball. I don’t mind if he doesn’t like sports or isn’t good at them, but I hope he will get confident enough to hold his own out there eventually.

Scandal and Mad Men are on my list to watch this summer. I haven’t seen either of them (because I watch a million other shows) so I’m actually glad to have something to entertain myself for a few weeks while all of the regular shows are taking a break.

I just started Mr. Selfridge on PBS! I like it, but my husband doesn’t care for it as much as he did Downton. Might be a good one to watch while Todd is at work!

Excited for more birthday party pics! The colors are so fun 🙂

Show ideas…Have you watched “Call the Midwife” series on PBS? I’m in LOVE with the characters on that show. Such great women. Also, do you watch The Mindy Show or New Girl? Those are my favorite comedies. Personally, I just can’t wait for Parenthood to come back. I need some Bravermans in my life! 🙂
When we get our dream house some day, a white farm house sink is on my list. I’m only a teeny bit worried about not having a “rinse basin” though, so let us know how you like it!

I keep telling my mother and sister they need to update their phones so I can facetime them! It is so crazy how fast kiddos grow, kind of sad though. I sure with my nephew was still a baby-baby, but big boys are a blast too:)

I loved reading this! The photo of you guys in the jump house made me smile so big, what a fun memory!!! I can’t wait to see/hear more about your house too, it’s coming together so quickly (though I bet at times it doesn’t feel that way… ha). You definitely need to watch House of Cards, Ryan and I finished it in like a week! We really liked it (even though some parts made me blush! haha) I’d also recommend streaming The Americans on FX.com, we got really into that show this season as well. I hope you’re having a great week, and have a fun Memorial Day weekend to look forward to! Love you!
