I was actually pretty bothered by the “to the parents of small children” post. I know the hold them under water thing was hyperbole meant to make a point, but it kinda crosses a line. Misery really loves company on the internet, but when I’m worn out, I’d rather have someone offer me something positive than saying “I’m worn out too.” Sorry, I know you didn’t write it, but I read it because you linked to it! I just think we have to be careful. And choose joy over mutual misery?

Hey Kate! I really appreciate your comment and your opinion on the post. And after looking at it from your perspective, I agree. I’ve deleted the post from my list of posts I loved this week. I did really enjoy reading the post, but the things that stood out to me were different. I liked his encouragement for us to stop using huge standards for parenting and to stop gaining our standards from reading blogs and “how to” manuals from people we don’t even know. But I do see how it can be seen as really harsh.

And I’ve been focused, lately, on focusing on joy and positivity. And the good times with our kids. I think everyone knows that it’s not easy to raise children- especially toddlers. We don’t need a reminder when we look in our Google Reader. We need encouragement and positivity.

hey erin, i haven’t commented in a while, but i wanted to tell you i’m enjoying the new direction your blog is taking. at first i was sad at the prospect and thought i’d miss the “old erin”, but have discovered that (a) there’s still plenty of the “old erin” and (b) change is good and an inevitable part of life. i’m looking forward to more of the build ’em up series/link ups. also, many of your recent posts have been particularly thought provoking (i really liked the one about ben affleck and jennifer garner’s marriage). it’s brave to try something new. xo

Great post at Lambert’s Lately today Erin:) Glad to see you’re in the Bloglovin crowd, I changed my follow status to follow you over there. I’m trying to do the same with my readers. This is such an odd transition lol, I have no clue how to get people to swap where they follow.
