rainy days and Mondays always get me down

I’m not really down. It’s just kind of a gloomy Monday around here. And it seemed like a fitting title for a brain dump.

1. We had a great weekend. The weather was incredible, and we spent as much time as possible outside. Basically doing our best to run the boys until they couldn’t run anymore. Just so we could get them to take a decent nap so we could catch up on Celebrity Apprentice. (I’m just being honest.)

2. Celebrity Apprentice is absolutely ridiculous, but Todd and I love it. We laugh so much! Is there anything more hilarious than Gary Busey tickling an innocent Universal Studios guest?

3. We spent a lot of time this weekend going over our house plans with a fine tooth comb. Or really just a purple marker because that’s all we had. Going over all of the electrical plans and deciding what kinds of lights you want in which location. And where you want your light switches? I haven’t even set foot in the house. How can we know where we want the light switch to be? But we did it. We’re getting closer!

4. Easter is coming! I’m so excited about the celebrations our church is doing. On Good Friday, if you live in the Columbia area, you should come to Shandon Baptist Church for The Story musical production. If you’ve heard of the touring production, you should come see the one at our church. Tickets are free. Just come!

5. One of these days I’ll write an actual blog post. But I’ve just been enjoying every single bit of time I have with my family. I don’t feel like blogging or over-analyzing or anything, really.

6. This weekend, the four of us are heading to a great retreat facility with about 20 other families from our church. Back in January we were invited to be a part of this, and that’s when I decided to sell my ticket to Blissdom. I’m so excited about this weekend and can’t wait to see what God has in store for all of these families.

7. Dancing With the Stars starts tonight. Not sure if I’ll watch this season or not. I always judge it based on the first episode.

8. Now that warm weather is here, I need a pedicure. I am ashamed to admit that I haven’t had a pedicure since August. I pity the fool who works on my toes. I do. I do.

9. When I say “I pity the fool” I don’t think of Mr. T. I think of this.

10. I made this for supper last night and I highly recommend it. I left out the chicken because we just like the occasional meatless meal. It’s delicious. Try it!

11. I’ve been obsessed with metallic wallpaper lately. I’m thinking for my dining room and powder room. Oh, I can’t wait!

Sad I won’t be seeing you at Blissdom Erin! I am sure you will have a wonderful weekend with your church family…sounds like something I would love! Our church does a couples retreat and it’s always the BEST time! Can’t wait to see your house plans!

Thanks, Mandy! Hopefully next year’s schedule will work out for me to be at Blissdom. I’ve got BlogHer, Influence, and Dot Mom planned for later this year, so there’s still plenty of inspiration to go around! I hope y’all have a great time this weekend.

I have metallic wallpaper in my dining room and half bath. I’ll have you send you some pics. They are pretty well decorated without much doing because the wall paper is so busy that you do not need much on the walls, which can be good and bad.

    Love #5.
Love #6 even more. I hope you have the best time.
#3 & #11 make me excited for when we build another home. Even though it will probably be 1-2 years before it happens. I look forward to hearing about the process. This home was pretty much complete when we bought it – didn’t get to make any decisions.
#8 made me LOL. And I did think of Mr. T. What does that say about me? HA!

I’d love to see more of your house!
We’re really excited about this weekend– as long as it doesn’t involve ropes courses. 🙂 And goodness, do y’all have a “Mr. T. In Your Pocket” toy? So funny! I gave one to Todd a long time ago for Christmas, and we laugh every time we play with it. Hilarious!

Loving metallic wallpaper too! Thought about using it in our nursery if I could find small polka-dots. Not sure if it would be too much though.

LOVE metallic wallpaper. Some good friends have done their dining rooms lately and it looks fabulous! We had a rather wretched Monday- thunderstorms at the wazoo! Thank goodness that is Miss Priss one day of MDO. I needed her occupied. Today is glorious though!

I built my own house about 8 years ago. One of the best but most stressful experiences of my life! As far as the electrical outlets don’t forget to put plugs in the linen closets and utility closet. I like to have a dust buster or floor vac plugged in there. Ask about the Christmas tree package. This usually includes plugs along the eves of the house. Think about having an outside outlet placed on the opposite side of the walkway leading to the fron door…just in case you want a spotlight shining up at the house. If you have a two car garage placing three lights on the garage looks really good. If you have a two story foyer put the chandelier on a lift so that it is easy to clean and change bulbs. Please feel free to contact me if you have any question! Good luck! Kim
