Or probably not. I’ll probably just dream of taking tap dancing lessons when the boys graduate from high school and I’m wondering where my life went.
I’m in New York with my parents right now, and I’m having the best time. My dad is here on business, so my mom and I thought we’d tag along for a little girls weekend.
We’re using nearly all of our time to see show after show after show. Just four shows. I’ll give full updates when I get back home and share all of my iPhone pictures and don’t have to pay $16.95 per day for wi-fi.
Why isn’t wi-fi free everywhere yet? What up with that?
So with all the fun musicals we’ve been seeing, I have visions of myself pirouetting across a stage and tap dancing to a happy beat to cheering audiences. It’s just something I’ve always loved since I was “bit by the bug” when I was 11 years old and performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
It’s been a great weekend, but boy am I missing my kiddos in a big way.
Also… social media is the coolest thing and makes the world such a small place. I have been posting about our theater experiences on Instagram, and for each show we’ve seen so far, at least one of my friends on Instagram has been good friends with a leading actor in each show! Seriously, how fun is that?
So that’s what I’m up to. We’re having a great time, and I have fun things to share.
And a fun little announcement coming later today on the blog.
It sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait to read about the musicals you saw. I love musicals – when I studied abroad in London, a group of us took advantage of the student prices and saw many of the shows. I wish I’d kept the Playbills as momentos. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip 🙂
What a fun way to spend a weekend! Enjoy the time with your mom.
I always have loved the theater/musicals. I wasin Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond for three months at our State Theater. Such an amazing experience! I am so jealous of all the shows you are seeing!
it was always my dream to be on Broadway when I grew up! Also to play Eliza Doolittle!
So jealous of your weekend full of plays and musicals. I can’t think of a better way to spend a girls weekend 🙂
My aunt started tap lessons when my cousin left for college and 20 years later she’s still taking them once a week!
So FUN! We LOVE Broadway. Glad you are having a good time with your mom, that would be me and my daughter too. Oh and my bff DOES take Tap at a fun studio right there in Columbia, you should join! : )
If you can see Once, it’s amazing!! Hope it made the cut! 🙂
Sounds like such a nice weekend with you mom (and dad too)! I bet you miss your boys so very very much.
I hope you’re trying out some fun restaurants in NYC too! I can imagine there are so many places to chose from !
As a former Broadway performer, I’m asking you to go and take those tap classes now. Seriously, it’s so much fun and you’ll meet happy people. I swear to you. Do it!
Please don’t wait until your boys are out of high school to start doing what you want! Even if you stay home until then, what are you going to do all day long? Take tap lessons – if you don’t want to do it now, at least start when they are in school all day! Don’t put it off!
Oh, I am so jealous! I love, love, love the theater! There is such an amazing feeling you get when you see a live show. Can’t wait to read about your adventures. Oh and I have lots of playlists of Musical Theater Playlists on my blog – in case you want to put on a show for your kids when you get home. 😉
NYC is definitely on my bucket list. I’ve been following along on instagram and it looks like you’re having a marvelous time. Enjoy yourself!
How fun!!! I’m so glad you were able to see Nice Work….I hope I can make it back to NYC to see it. I was also in Joseph (and played Joseph HA!) when I was 11…I think it’s still one of my all time favorite musicals. What other shows did you see this weekend? (In my previous life I was a musical theater major and lived in NYC for a year after college pursuing it….so I now have lots of friends who star on Broadway and are living my old dream! It’s a tough life though, I give them a lot of credit!) xo
