31 Days, Day 9: speech, houses, and holiday market meetings

Today was a pretty exciting day for us.

Hayes met with his speech therapist and early interventionist this morning at our house. He is such a ham during these sessions. I think some of it is because Hudson isn’t around and he has the full, undivided attention from his new friends.

I’m absolutely thrilled with the way it’s all going, and I’m just so thankful that South Carolina has this available to us. Hayes played with Sarah, our therapist, and she helped me understand some of the reasons that he may be having delays with some of his sounds. Now that we’ve met and worked with Sarah, I’m remembering so many other cues that let me know that he wasn’t ready to make the “b” sound or the “p” sound. It’s all so interesting! And I’m excited to learn.

Our real estate agent took us to see a few houses today. We actually saw a lot of houses. We aren’t much closer to making a decision, but we keep telling ourselves there’s no reason to be in a hurry. We close in just over a month on our house, but we do have family in town that we can live with until we’ve made our decision.

We had a Holiday Market decorations meeting tonight, and a big Holiday Market meeting. I can’t believe Holiday Market is less than two months away. The decorations are going to be so cute, if I do say so myself. I can’t wait!

I leave on Thursday morning to go up to the Influence Conference- and see my parents and Nina. It’s always a challenge to prepare to leave the boys for any amount of time. Just lots of packing and lots of list-making. I’m just hoping for safe travels and an easy weekend for my boys.

Loyal blog reader here! I may have just missed it, but could you possibly share some of what led you to see Early Intervention for Hayes? I have some concerns about my 15 month old’s speech development (he only says “Mama” and even that is random), and would love to hear more about your experience.
Thanks, as always, for a great blog!

We’re scheduling an evaluation for speech therapy for Peanut – I’m hopeful that it helps her a lot because she’s still not talk (saying about 10 words maybe) at almost 2 years old.

So happy for you and all the good things going on in the Carroll home right now 🙂 Also, I’m sure the Holiday Market decor is amazing again! I hope Baby W and I are able to make it down!

I completely missed that you sold your house. Congrats! I hope you’re still at the point that looking at new houses is fun -and not exhausting!

Congratulations on selling the house! On a completely unrelated note, I got a sneak peek of Nashville on NBC last night and thought of you. Are you planning to watch? Let me know what you think! As much as I tried, I just couldn’t stop thinking of the main character as Tammy Taylor!! I was a die-hard Friday Night Lights fan, and I’d give my right arm for them to bring it back.

ack! i just wrote a long reply and by the time i finished, it had timed out and i lost it. here is the short(er)version:

hayes – happy to hear he likes his “new friends”. excited to hear what you learn and about his progress. came across cute pic of his “cheese face” while searching your blog. they cracked me up to no end!

house – good job committing to taking your time finding just the right place. after i got married, i moved 3 times in 6 weeks (my stuff into storage, me in with my husband for a month, both us us into a new place + my stuff out of storage) because our lease expirations did not time out. it was well worth it. i LOVE our place and was glad we waited to find the right place.

holiday market – so excited to try to recreate your xmas tree from last year. when i moved into our current place and saw how much room we had, i declared “i want 2 trees this year”. this was in june mind you! i want a family tree and a more formal “erin replica” tree in our sunroom.

apropos nothing – we adopted a dog last week. we love him! i just wanted to tell you.
