31 days of back to basics blogging

Over the past few months, off and on, I get overwhelmed with the thought of blogging. I see a lot of posts urging bloggers to come up with profound, thought-provoking posts. There’s the pressure for each post to make some statement and get readers talking.

Back when I started blogging, it was purely for me. And, for the most part, things are still that way. But I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t blog for all of you, too.

But in order to get back to a place where I love it, I need to get back to basics.

What are the basics? For me, it’s just sharing about my day and my heart. I want to take more pictures and just document the every day and journal my way through it.

No gimmicks. No agenda. Just getting back to why I started this in the first place.

I’m linking up with The Nester this month for her 31 Days series. And I’m doing 31 Days of Back to Basics Blogging.

It’s a simple topic, and my goal is to just write every day in October about a few things that we did that day or what we learned. I want to share pictures, share thoughts, and just let go of the expectations and pressure.

When I started thinking a couple of months ago about what I would write about it, the thought of writing “how to” posts or giving a whole bunch of advice for 31 days just didn’t seem natural. And, frankly, it overwhelmed me.

The basics of blogging are what I miss.

I hope this will be a freeing experience for me and I’m excited to take the time to remember to pull out my camera. And remember to just write down the little things. Maybe they’re things that only I care about, but that’s why I started this little online space in the first place.

Please join me this month, and if you blog, consider linking up with The Nester this month!

I’ll be listing all of the posts for the month on this post as I add new posts.

I agree, the basics are my favorite too. It makes me stressed and overwhelmed reading blogs filled with advice or perfect everything because there is not much perfect going on here – just life and that’s perfect enough for me! Look forward to following along, Erin!

Im excited about this! I love reading about the basic, everyday stuff! I’m also a stay at home mom so it’s just nice to read what other moms do during the day! The basics are why I started reading!:)

Back to Basics, a wonderful topic for the tiny little blogger that I am. I confess I feel the pull to be something more, and then I try to become some imaginary blogger that doesn’t really exist and I feel defeated. I’ll be following along this month!

Very well said friend ๐Ÿ™‚ My 31 days challenge is along the same line. I just want to get back to “basics” if you will in life. I get way too overwhelmed and need to slow it down some..

Great topic Erin, that is really similar to what I am doing. I can not commit myself to any certain thing for an entire month, so mine will just be 31 days about us and our life. That may not be exciting to anyone else, but I will be able to look back and remember it and that’s what is important! : )

I think this sounds like a fabulous idea ๐Ÿ™‚ if you need any suggestions, just my two cents, but I LOVE seeing how busy families meal plan… or just how you prepare dinner, etc. no pressure for recipes or anything, but I love those type posts. also a day in the life type posts are always fun, too!

love your blog, erin! keep it up!

Honestly, those are the blogs I enjoy most! I like reading about women who are in the same stage of life as me. For a stay-at-home mom, it helps me feel connected to others during those long days when I miss adult interaction!

What a lovely idea. i’ll admit to spending too much time ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ and far too little time being conscious of why I started in the first place.
