I don’t think I’ve mentioned this here on the blog yet, but I’m so excited to be attending the Influence conference next month.
When Jessi and Hayley announced that they’d be hosting a conference, I started to get really excited. Because this isn’t just any conference. This is a conference about Jesus, and using our influence that God has given us for Him.
A weekend surrounded by women that I don’t know, but knowing that “our common ground is the Good News?” I can’t think of anything more refreshing or encouraging.
I’m excited to meet so many wonderful ladies, and I’m excited about today’s link up because I’ll have the opportunity to get to know a little bit about all these ladies before the conference next month.
I’m fortunate that the conference is located very near to where my parents live, so they can play with the boys while I go to the Influence Conference in Indianapolis. It’s going to be a great weekend!
Some of the community leaders hosted a link up today for all of the conference registrants to introduce ourselves. So here I go!
THREE things about me:
1. I’m an introvert. Isn’t this what all the bloggers say? But it’s true. Deep down I’m shy, but I’m also friendly and talkative. But my idea of a good time involves a small group of friends just sitting and talking with coffee and a movie that we’ve seen 100 times on in the background. A large room full of people isn’t my cup of tea. So, if I see you, I’ll smile and I’ll say hello because I want to make other people feel comfortable. But I’ll really be super nervous!
2. My husband and I had our first conversation in the frozen foods aisle at Publix. Super romantical.
3. I love pop culture. But I’m not super up to date with the current pop culture. But if we could have a Saved By The Bell or 90210 trivia game, I’d be in heaven. I love tossing a random movie quote into conversation or just breaking into song when it seems appropriate. I mean, is that ever appropriate? It’s just the way I was raised. When my family gets together we have a lot of fun, but I think my husband thinks we’re weird.
TWO things I’m looking forward to about the conference:
1. Being encouraged. I’m excited to meet other bloggers that are similar to me. We have one, huge, commonality. And that is going to be so encouraging.
2. Meeting everyone and seeing a few familiar faces!
ONE thing I can’t leave home without:
1. iPhone. It’s a common answer, but it’s the honest answer. I do not like leaving home without my iPhone. And to think, I protested exchanging my BlackBerry for an iPhone.
So, yay! I can’t wait to meet all of you and visit your blogs through the link up! See y’all soon!

I really hope that through blogging I can meet new people and maybe one day attend a conference like this. It sounds wonderful! I’m also such an introvert and your idea of a great time sounds perfect to me!
Movie quotes at random & bursting into song with no warning? Oh, we shall be friends. Can’t wait to see you again!
Hi Erin! Thanks for the comment, I’m looking forward to meeting you at Influence as well! So hearing that you and several other women who are attending the conference are introverts is making me feel much better about going without knowing anyone lol! I really enjoy being around people and having fun, but I am definitely more introverted than I am extroverted. And the fact that I won’t be the only nervous one attending makes me feel more at ease already ;-).
Have SO much fun!!! It sounds like it’ll be a wonderful weekend!
Hi, Erin! Nice to “meet” you! I agree, our one huge commonality is such a great one to start with! Looking forward to this encouraging weekend!
we quote movies and tv shows in my family all the time! i’m sure i’ll be doing the same thing at influence.
yup, pretty sure all of us who are going are talkative introverts. haha! the good thing is we all know where we’re coming from with that! this’ll be my first blogging conference and i was terrified i’d be caught in a sea of extroverts and completely overwhelmed. i’m glad to know that’s not the case!
i’m super excited to meet you, Erin! i started following your blog around three years ago & i would never have imagined i’d be able to meet you one day!
Ahh I so wish I could go to this conference! So many of my favorite bloggers are attending and I feel like it’s going to be such an amazing, uplifting weekend 🙂 But it’s also my husband’s birthday and we already had plans to go visit his family in Portland, OR for the weekend…maybe next year!
I’m shy deep down too! So excited and looking forward to meeting you!
I didn’t realize you were going to this conference. You need to read Emily Anderson’s blog (she’s also going)….she’s one I’ve been following for years! http://andersonfamilycrew.blogspot.com/
Sounds like a great time! I laughed about the iPhone because I too went kicking and screaming giving up my Blackberry for the iPhone but am so happy that I did and I can’t live without mine either! 🙂
Yay! I’m going to Influence as well! My first blogging conference…very exciting. I sure hope to meet you in person! ~Bri~
I think we’ll be great friends Erin. Also somewhat of an introvert. . .I love Publix (and a good cheesy romance story). . .and I truly miss 1990’s television. Looking forward to meeting you next month!
Excited to meet you! I’ll also be nervous at the conference as large groups of people are not my cup of tea either. I like your idea of chatting with a small group of people with a popular movie on in the background. 🙂 Loved Saved By The Bell when I was growing up! 🙂
I love how many things we bloggers have in common: introverted, more comfortable in small groups, warm drinks, and iPhones. See you in Oct!
P.S. You are really beautiful!
soooooo….what’s you’re favorite Saved By The Bell Episode? That show was pretty much second only to oxygen in my life growing up, so I can’t pick a favorite- but I do know I quote Jessie Spano’s meltdown- “I’m so excited…I’m so…SCARED!” more than is probably appropriate.
Hi Erin! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and I’m excited to meet you! How wonderful that your parents will get to stay with your boys while you’re at the conference. God Bless! ~Bri~
My sister and I quote TV, movies and songs ALL. THE. TIME. And a lot of them are obscure things that only we were exposed to as children so other people get lost and think we’re strange. But it’s okay. We understand each other. 🙂
And yes about being shy but friendly and talkative, and the iPhone. Yes, yes, yes.
What a fun conference! I’m so excited for you, and can’t wait to hear how it goes! xo
