a real date night

What does date night look like for us these days?

Tonight we picked up barbecue take out and brought it home. The boys ate their supper quickly and then Todd and I each took one of the boys to get ready for bed and read books.

He is finishing up with Hayes and we’re getting ready to watch Shark Tank and Dateline. And tonight’s episode of Dateline is a rerun of an episode we watched while on our honeymoon.

(Yes, we totally watched Dateline in the hotel room of the Grand Wailea on our honeymoon.)

Glamorous, right?

I honestly can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing on a Friday night.

I’m not married and never have been, but I think your date night is a great idea! It’s the intent, the way you planned it and are anticipating it and treating it, and not necessarily what you’re doing (although I think the Dateline rerun is a sweet idea.)

I love nights like that! Well, I don’t have any kids yet, but the low-key, just hanging out nights are always my favorite. It’s just nice spending time together.

Haha. I think that was when we knew we were ready for kids – when we were just a married couple who stayed home on Fridays and watched Dateline! On the contrary, husband and I actually had these great plans tonight to meet up with friends…but then our little fella ended up with a high fever. 🙁 I told him to go ahead…and here I am. Thank goodness for good blogs …and most importantly, our baby getting much-needed sleep right now!

Haha, this is funny! It reminds me of me and my husband – and we don’t even have kids yet! Although some people may find us boring, I love the fact that we can just snuggle on the couch to old reruns, like Everyone Loves Raymond, and be completely content. There’s nothing I would rather do! Sounds like y’all had a great Friday:)

My husband and I love Dateline – we get so excited when it’s a new one! It’s turned into a big family joke.
