Okay, y’all! I have been so, so, so very excited about this giveaway for a long time now. You can all get mad at me for holding out on you for the last six months.
Because I have now experienced the greatest vacuum cleaner! The Oreck Magnesium is the greatest addition to our home in 2012. It’s a good thing Hayes was born in 2011. (Just kidding)
The Magnesium is light weight and slim. And it is an Oreck.
What can I say about Oreck? I have been a loyal Oreck user for seven years now. I will never, ever buy a different brand of vacuum cleaner. I purchased a refurbished Oreck from the Oreck store when I moved into my second post-grad apartment. I never had a single problem with that vacuum cleaner.
And when Oreck sent me the Magnesium to review, I jumped at the chance.
I love how sleek it is.
It is powerful. It cleans my floors and rugs better than any vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had. It is gentle enough for my nicest rugs and is low enough for hardwoods.
You would not believe how lightweight it is! It weighs just over 7 pounds. I can haul it all over my house, up and down stairs, and never get tired.
It has 102 miles per hour of airflow! There is so much power that it feels like it is self propelled on most surfaces!
And it lays virtually flat to get under the lowest furniture. The LED lights on the front of the Magnesium make it easy to see under furniture where it’s dark.
The cord stretches across four rooms in my house. I only have to unplug it and plug it back in twice to get my whole house cleaned. It’s really incredible!
My favorite thing about all Orecks? The bags. I love vacuum bags. They seal so tight and contain all of the mess so neatly. I love that when my bag is full, I can switch it out without the risk of spilling all of the dust, dog hair, and crumbs all over my floor like so often happens with canister vacuums.

It’s only 7.7 pounds? Amazing. Its qualities seem really great, but I can’t make myself pay $600 for a vacuum.
I just checked out their website and read that the Magnesium is the lightest, full-powered upright in America. Awesome – I feel like I get enough of a workout carrying my toddler up and down stairs, it would be great not to have to do that with my vacuum too!

Well, I just learned that I need the Magnesium-does that count? Ha. I did see on the website it won best new product of the year in floor care. That’s pretty awesome. I have a real dog hair situation, which is not ideal with a crawler…hopefully Oreck can remedy that. 🙂

This vacuum is AWESOME!!! I learned it has an awesome quickswitch which would make my life so much easier. Our house has all hardwood floors with a few rugs and ceramic tile in the kitchen. Trying to vacuum the entire house is such a pain. This would make it quick and simple!

I LOVE that it has an Easy Snap cord, my vacuum’s cord never stays where it is supposed to. My vacuum also weighs 22 pounds, which is ridiculous if you ask me. I guess that’s what you get when your vacuum is 8 years old 🙂

Our biggest complaint with our current vac is that we have to constantly unplug it and find a new and closer plug. I love how long the cord is on this product! Would love to have this in our home!

I like its small size and ability to get under the bed/couch/etc. It would be much easier to use in the kitchen than my current vacuum. That handheld looks awesome too! Between the dog hair and kid crumbs everywhere, a good vacuum is a big need!

Wow, a 7-year limited warranty and 3 yearly tune-ups! What a great investment, since it must last a very long time.
You can try one for 30 days, then send it back if you don’t like it! Although, imagine not many people do! 🙂
My grandmother always used Oreck, and even though her vacuum cleaners weren’t very heavy either, they were no where near as light as 7 pounds! I was excited to learn from the website how light these vacuum cleaners really are!
