party planning madness

*Sweet Hayes isn’t feeling well at all, but I wanted to share all of this with y’all. I hope everyone has a great day!

Actually, there’s not that much madness going on. It’s going to be a biggish party because we’re planning to have lots of friends there.

We tend to go all out for the first birthday and then scale way back for the second and third. Hudson’s not even having a party this year– we’ll be at the beach with our family. So we’ll do something low key and quiet.

Fortunately, I’ve been able to get lots of the supplies for Hayes’s party from Amazon.com and then I’ll be making the rest of it. And I really do love to craft stuff like this while I’m watching bad television shows.

We’re planning on lots of yummy Mexican food. Lots of pinatas for the older kids. Yummy drinks for adults. A fun smash cake for Hayes and bite size desserts for the guests.

The thing I’m most excited about is just being outside and celebrating our little man with so many friends and family members.

I decided to make this a really bright, colorful party. We’re having it outside in a gorgeous green setting, so I wanted lots of colors that would pop. I’m excited to see it all come together that day!

We’ve picked up lots of fun Cinco de Mayo “props” like mustaches, sombreros and maracas. But it will be a fun day with friends celebrating Hayes’s first year at his very first fiesta!

I wanted to share my inspiration board with all of you.

All of the original sources can be found on my Pinterest board for this fiesta.

girrrrl! i’ve been avoiding pinterest – because i knew i’d never get off the computer, but i couldn’t resist looking at your board. *such* cute ideas. love the cookies and the individual 7 layer dip cups and the utensil “caddies”. what a fun event you are planning – can’t wait to see your pics of the day.

you should know that today is an all out copy erin day! i have the day off and am spending it making bow tie fiesta, spinach, strawberry and goat cheese salad and butterfinger pie to deliver to friends who just had a baby. i’m excited to put my erin condren label on the disposable containers i got. oh…when i told my husband what i was making, he said…”just for them?” so i’ll whipping up two of everything. btw, the bow tie pasta with roasted veggies was a HUGE hit.

i’ll be praying for little hayes while i cook. hope he feels better and that you have a good day, friend.

Sick baby here too! Second children get everything. Maybe it’s the germs from preschool? I made your Bow Tie Fiesta last night and was so impressed. I’ll be honest and admit that I was not convinced but decided to take your word on it since I had all the ingredients and needed an easy meal to take to a friend. I whipped it up before 8:30 in the morning and delivered it in the afternoon. I enjoyed it so much at dinner that I had three helpings. Oh my, it is literally the best thing I have made in weeks. Hubby liked it too. Sure, hope the family with the new baby liked it too. Erin, I am so glad you entered my Stella and Dot bracelet giveway and I sure hope you win since you have provided me with a fabulous recipe – it’d be only fair!

Aww I’m sorry Hayes isn’t feeling well! It always seems like kids get sick right before their birthday, or in my case anyways! Hope he feels better soon girl! I love the inspiration board you pinned and it sounds like such a fun vibrant party for such a fun vibrant little guy!

I love the idea of going in a beach vacation for Hudson’s bday! Ryder turns 4 in November so we’ve thought of going somewhere tropical and warm. Not sure if it will happen this yr or not but I love this idea 🙂
