Glade Is In The Air

This post was sponsored by SC Johnson. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can’t stand behind.

Now that spring is almost here, we are ready to put our house on the market. I can’t think of anything crazier for a mom of two small boys and two dogs in the house. But we’re going to give it a shot and hope that we’re able to get some bites.

But it’s really up to us. This is a buyer’s market and we are going to have to be very diligent about keeping things clean, avoiding clutter, and making sure the house smells clean.

I’ve created a little system to do a quick cleanup of every single room. I have a bin in each of the boys’ bedrooms to help me pick up the toys and get them out of the floor quickly. The plan also includes keeping surfaces like the dining table and kitchen countertops clean of clutter so I can easily wipe them down if we get the call that there’s a showing.

Covering up the dog smell is a bit of a challenge. We keep up with cleaning on a weekly basis, but with two dogs, it’s inevitable that you might smell a dog. So I have a couple Glade® products on hand at all times. After vacuuming, I’m going to do a small spray of Glade’s Magic Meadows™ room spray in all of the rooms to help the house smell homey and fresh. I don’t want it to be overwhelming when the potential buyers come in, but I want it to smell fresh and happy.

And just to have a little bit of ambiance in the house, I love to have a candle burning in the master bathroom and in the kitchen. I love that Glade® has candles that release so much fragrance without being too big.

In addition to all the cleaning and making sure that the house smells fresh, I created a playlist of quiet classical piano music to play on low volume when any house showings take place.

In this market, I feel like we really have to put effort into every showing and treat each showing like they are the ones that want our house. I want people to feel like they’re coming home when they step into our house for the first time. I want them to feel like it’s their house. Hopefully all of our extra effort will help that happen! If you want your house smelling fresh and bright this spring, make your way down to your local Food Lion and pick up some of Glade’s new Spring Collection! I think that you have a fail proof plan. I am always looking on line for homes, I like to dream. Anyway… although I can’t “smell” the houses, I can see what they look like, and I am always more drawn to the ones that are clean, and tastefully decorated. Good luck…

Good luck on the sell of your home! My family just went through this process. My husband took a new job and unfortunately we had to live apart for 8 months while we waited for the right buyer to come along. Being a pseudo-single mom, working a full time job and keeping a house clean for 8 months was certainly long enough!

But God is always there in everything – and we knew we were doing the right thing when everything eventually fell perfectly into place.

I hope your home goes quickly. Blessings!
