This week’s post have been a little “light” and there have been a few sponsored posts, too. (Some of you probably noticed the Huggies post about the week before delivery in your Google Reader. We had to remove them for technical reasons, but it will be back soon!)
But I wanted to post some of the highlights of my week.
1. I realized that all little boys love remote controls. Hayes is obsessed with picking up any of the remotes and drowning them in his slobber. His two top teeth came in this week and he pretty much looks like a different baby. Stop growing up!
2. We haven’t lost any sleep since getting the doc band on Monday. This is a huge praise! I wasn’t sure how it was all going to work, but Hayes has adjusted so well. I plan to do a full doc band report soon.
3. Every day after lunch, Hudson walks over to me and asks if he can sit in my lap. He’ll sit really still and may even play with some of my hair. It’s just a sweet little daily moment.
4. My generic allergy medicine is working. The pollen is out of control, but I’m finally starting to feel a little better and less congested.
5. I’ve dropped a few more pounds since getting sick. That’s a good thing, right? (wink, wink)
6. I love a spinning instructor who likes great music that motivates me!
7. I went for a walk on the State House grounds this morning with my friend, Anna, and her two girls. So I got to see my husband in the middle of the morning when he came outside to give me the diaper bag (that I had forgotten) and say hello.
8. Planning a Cinco de Mayo birthday party is so much fun!
9. The 1982 babies are turning 30 this year (and I’m one of them) and I received an invitation to a crawfish boil to celebrate one of my best friends’ 30th birthday. I so wish I could be there, but I know it will be a blast!
10. Baking cupcakes from a box (yellow cupcake with chocolate icing- my favorite) in the middle of the week just to cheer up your cranky toddler may be a dangerous parenting tactic, but it’s delicious. It didn’t just cheer Hudson up, but I’m pretty happy about it, too.
Simon’s been LOVING the remote lately too, a walk on State House grounds in South Carolina in the springtime sounds magical. 🙂
A Cinco de Mayo birthday party sounds like my dream come true!! Glad Hayes is doing well.
Yummy! Those cupcakes sound delicious. We went on a walk this morning too. It’s gorgeous! I should try some generic meds too. Claritin sure is expensive especially since my husband takes it too.
I’m a 1982 baby and I can’t wait to do something super fun for my birthday! Do you want to have a 30th birthday party this year?
I think baby girls love the remote too! My 8 month old loooves the remote. She’s able to do things with it that I have no idea how to fix sometimes. Drives me crazy. And yay for good sleep!
I 100% agree about the remotes. Our little Jack LOVES remotes. Luckily we had a couple extra remotes that weren’t being used. We took the batteries out and he has his own! Of course, he still goes for the real thing, but at least sometimes we can “trick” into playing with the “fake” one!
So glad to hear that things are going ok with the doc band!
So glad Hayes is doing well with the doc band. We had our evaluation and it looks like we’re getting a helmet as well. Sleeping is the main thing I’m worried about. Looking forward to seeing your Cinco de Mayo party! If you need any printables, I’d be glad to help.
Boxed yellow cake mix and chocolate icing are my absolute favorite!
Yellow cupcake chocolate frosting will cure almost anything! My absolute favorite too!!
I don’t think the remote control is just a boy thing. Julia is obsessed with ours, too!! So glad to hear Hayes is adjusting well to the doc band. Praise God!
How fantastic! Thank you for sharing these wonderful positive things! 🙂
So glad things with little Hayes and his doc band are going well. That is great news.
And I am TOTALLY with you on the spin instructor and their music. It makes all the difference in a class!
So glad Hayes is doing well with his band, and one of those cupcakes sound wonderful right now! And congrats on the weight loss. A loss is a loss no matter how you lost it! 😉
That’s my favorite cupcake combo as well! And now I must bake some soon. Thanks a ton. 😉
(I really didn’t need any motivation at all to bake cupcakes–I’ve been wanting something sweet for a week and just couldn’t decide between cake, coconut cream pie or mint chocolate chip cookies. Lol.)
I’m so glad the doc band is working out and that you are having a good week!
So glad to hear Hayes’ transition into his doc band has been easy for y’all. Sleeping and nursing were my 2 main concerns at first, and thankfully no major problem with either.
Annnnd now I NEED some cupcakes! 🙂
I just learned this the other night so I thought I would pass it along. A supposed cure for allergies is to get some LOCAL honey and eat some daily. It has to be made from local honey bees b/c they collect the pollen in your area. A local farmer’s market might be a good option. My mom got some to try in Virginia. I thought she was making it up and asked my husband who knows EVERYTHING about nutrition and medicine and he confirmed that this worked and that allergists suggest this as well.
I think #10 is a FANTASTIC parenting tactic =) Sometimes we just need a little cheering up! Oh, and I’ve heard the same thing about honey… it’s supposed to be amazing for allergies
Hey- I live in Cola., too, but am much older than you are. Just curious–does the friend you walked with have a daughter named Margaret? It sure would be a coincidence if your friend is someone I go to church with…
So thankful Hayes is doing well with his doc band!
I’m craving cupcakes now. I wonder if I have the things to make them!
Can’t wait to hear more about Hayes’ doc band apt as I’m sure I will once I catch up. I so want to do a spinning class but last time I tried it at my gym my bum and other regions were sore for days lol! I’ve also really been dying to try a Pure Barre class and found a few classes in Charlotte! Just have to get motivated right?
That’s sweet that you got to see Todd for the diaper bag exchange 🙂 I love the days when I get a few mins with my hubs during the work week. I’m glad you’re feeling better and yum, the cupcakes sound so good about right now! I printed a skinnytaste.com recipe for coconut cupcakes that looked so good but haven’t gotten around to making them yet!
