a Valentine's Day brain dump

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!

1. Thanks, again, for all of your encouragement regarding the decision we’ll be making for Hayes. It means so much to me to read about your stories and your experiences. Thank you!

2. Todd and I celebrated Valentine’s Day on Friday night. It’s easier for us to get a babysitter on Friday night and we get easily irritated with Valentine’s Day crowds. I was also dying to see The Vow. We had an amazing time! We had a delicious dinner at Garibaldi’s and ended dinner with my favorite dessert, the almond basket. Then we went to see The Vow. It was a sweet movie. Parts were a little bit lame, but the story was sweet. I can honestly say that my Channing Tatum crush is over. He is just kind of blah to me. (Not trying to stir up a debate- I know some girls really really love him!) But I love Rachel McAdams!

3. I helped out with Hudson’s Valentine’s Day parties this week. He brought the cutest little Valentines and treat bags and then we brought cupcakes and the yummy pretzel, Hershey’s kiss, and M&M snacks. Love those little things!

4. This morning, we set the table for the boys so it would be all happy and lovey when they came in for breakfast. They didn’t get anything big for Valentine’s Day, but it was still fun to acknowledge it and show them they’re loved in a fun way. And y’all know I’m a sucker for pink and red!

5. When I was making the fun pretzel treats for Hudson’s class, I asked Todd if he would come help me put the M&Ms on top before the melted chocolate cooled. He said, “I am intimidated by crafts. I’m having VBS flash backs.” Seriously? Crafts? So funny!

6. Don’t forget to check out my Kelly’s Kids party! They have the cutest clothes for your little boy and little girl!

7. The Josh and Susan Powell story just breaks my heart. And makes me Β super angry.

8. I cannot believe Whitney Houston is gone. We watched a tribute story on Sunday night and so many of my childhood memories flashed before my eyes. I have so many wonderful associations with her songs. I Will Always Love You came out when I was in the 5th grade- and I definitely saw The Bodyguard at much too young an age. I Will Always Love You was played at all the dances and was the last song. I Wanna Dance With Somebody and How Will I Know were such favorites of mine as a little kid and they still make me dance! Her voice was the absolute best and, in my opinion, only comes around once in a lifetime. No one can compare.

9. Our church has a women’s retreat coming up and I am so excited that I’m going to be going! It’s less than 24 hours away from the boys and Todd, but it will be time well spent.

10. I may have ordered four extra cupcakes when I ordered them for Hudson’s school party. You know. Just to have some at home.

11. Relatedly, my journey on My Fitness Pal is going well. I rejoined my gym a couple of weeks ago and I’m actually enjoying going. I need to be going for longer and working harder, but it’s a start in the right direction. A good friend and I went this morning at 5:45 for the morning spin class. I completely forgot how much the seat hurts!

12. I’m planning to make steaks and twice-baked potatoes tonight for an at-home Valentine’s Day celebration. Yum!

I love Spin! But I can not do it without a good pair of biking shorts with padding for the bum!

That cupcake looks delish! I’m afraid that “a couple” wouldn’t last long around my house. πŸ™‚

I won’t say anything in depth about the vow because I don’t want to ruin of for other people. But I thought the movie was a let down. Love Rachael McAdams but she really is playing the same roles way to much. I can’t wait til the lucky one comes out though, looks like a completely different role than what Zac Efron is used to playing.

I loved this post! I agree with you totally on The Vow. It was good, but some parts were kinda lame. And while Channing Tatum is easy on the eyes I personally never would have talked to him if he walked up to me while wearing that goofy hat in the beginning!

I love that you set up the breakfast table to celebrate Valentine’s Day for your boys. My mom did that for us and this made me remember how special it was and how I looked forward to that. I’m going to have to do that for my little one in a few years!

TC’s quote about VBS crafts cracked me up. Just too funny!

You have two sweet little boys and lots of love, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with all your special guys!

Great minds think alike…Jason and I are having filets and twice baked potatoes tonight, too. And sauteed squash, zucchini and onions. I was making squash for Julia yesterday and it just smelled so darn good. I have to make it tonight for us! Happy V Day!

Ohh, your boys are so sweet. That sounds like a delicious dinner tonight AND good job for doing spin class–I have only done it once and I wanted to die. I would love to try again sometime though–gotta get working on this post-baby bod for summer! πŸ˜‰

I felt the same way about The Vow. It was good, but it did not meet my high expectations of it. Still fun to have a date night though.

I’ve been praying for you and TC – praying that God would give you wisdom and clarity to know exactly what would be best for your sweet Hayes. You are wonderful parents and I know will do the best thing for you all!

One of these years I may actually order cupcakes instead of making them. Seems so much easier after spending 3 hours making them yesterday! Might just be worth the money πŸ™‚

Hi! Did YOU really make the steaks??!?!?!?!? I’m ridiculously impressed. I adore steaks, but have never grilled one myself… one day!!!! Hope it was fabulous!

It was heaven for the makers of the expensive helmet you are getting for your son when doctors initiated the lie on your back rule. Mothers who did little tummy time and kept their babies on their backs while tweeting and blogging are paying the price for their baby’s head shape. It is purely for cosmetic value as you have been told. That is also the reason insurance companies don’t cover it. You should calculate your tweets and blogs since your son’s birth to see what each one has cost you.

I want to see the Vow!

It’s ridiculous how many cupcakes we have around here right now.

I need to join the gym, too….mostly because of the above : /

The boys are SO cute!! Hayes’ hair has really darkened up, adorable!

    Hey Erin πŸ™‚

The boys look so cute and sounds like a fun way to celebrate Valentines day! I’ve wanted to see the vow but chick flicks st the movies are out if I want to see them with my husband. I thought the same thing about Channing Tatum when he hosted Live with Kelly and I don’t know if it was his hair or what but I wasn’t crushing in him like I once was. Liam Hemsworth is pretty crush worthy though ha!

    Well Happy belated Valentines!
