Christmas is coming…

There are commercials on the TV already playing Christmas tunes to advertise, it’s coming through our radios and there are Christmas lights and garland on the street lights and on the fronts of stores. It’s here!

…Guess what! The Lulu McGee Christmas collection is up and ready for orders! Hurry and get yours placed. And you have a few more days to use the 10% off discount code… BLUEEYEDBRIDE11 … at checkout!

…I have officially finished my Christmas shopping. I wanted to be done before Holiday Market begins this weekend, so I’m not running around like crazy in a couple of weeks. I bought all of the toys on Yoyo.com and got everything else on Amazon.com. The internet makes everything so easy! If I had a buddy who was willing, I’d brave the stores on Black Friday, but no one ever wants to go with me! Ha!

…I’m going to start prepping casseroles today. Love it! I love to watch Home Alone and The Family Man while I cook during the holidays.

…I’ve got my tunes playing this morning while I write and respond to emails. My favorite Christmas albums are Michael Buble, Amy Grant “A Christmas Album” (the original), The Martins, Joy Williams, Barlow Girl, Carnie and Wendy Wilson (yes, the Wilson sisters from Wilson Phillips), Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and I have a few of the “Now That’s What I Call Christmas” albums that are so good!

Right now, my favorite songs are Strange Way to Save the World (4Him), A Baby Changes Everything (Faith Hill), The Magic of Christmas Day (Celine Dion), Hallelujah Light Has Come (BarlowGirl) and Here With Us (Joy Williams). Obsessed is the better word. I just love Christmas music so much!

What is your favorite Christmas album?

I don’t have anyone that is willing to brave Black Friday with me either. If we lived closer, it would be a shopping date!

I would love to hear more about Holiday Market. I am not familar with it and it sounds amazing.

I’d love to do a Black Friday! No one will go with me either. It’s a shame you are so far away! Harry Connick Jr. is by far my favorite!

I hope you are going to share the casseroles that you are prepping. I am having 2 big family gatherings and I want to have as much done before hand as possible. I refuse to be a slave to the kitchen during the holidays. Please share because the more I can do ahead of time, the happier I will be. Your kids are ADORABLE FYI !!!

What a relief that all of your shopping is done! My favorite Christmas album is called “Christmas With the Stars” and it’s from 1996. It includes great songs from Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Frank Sinatra, and others. My mom used to play it when we would open up our presents on Christmas morning and it’s such a great compilation of artists.

I grew up listening to The Carpenter’s Christmas Portrait and it always put me in the Christmas spirit. I also love traditional Christmas music sung by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, and of course Michael Buble. Another good one is Josh Groban! Happy Thanksgiving

The Family Man is one of mine and hubby’s MOST FAVORITE movies of all times! A few of my favorite Christmas music CD’s consist of Andy Williams, Harry Connick, Jr. and Jessica Simpson (the one she dedicated to her grandmother). I used to brave the sales on Black Friday when I had a friend to go with – now, not so much. I’m thinking this year I am actually going to relax more and put up the Christmas tree earlier and listen to my Christmas music, bake cookies, etc. and get ready for the Razorback game against LSU! 🙂 Have a great day and Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

I think it’s a tie between Aaron Neville’s “Soulful Christmas” and The Carpenter’s “Christmas Portrait” for my favorite Christmas album–The Carpenter’s album always reminds me of my childhood & cooking/baking with my mom. 🙂 My most favorite Christmas song, though, is “Mary, Did You Know.” I don’t care how many times I hear it, it never gets old…and regardless of who’s singing it (Reba, someone at church singing a solo, etc.) I always get chills & tears in my eyes thinking about the meaning. Such a powerful song! As for Christmas shopping, I have a few more things to order online & I too will be finished. I try to get it out of the way early–to enjoy the holidays, not feel rushed, and to avoid those mean-spirited people who invade the malls/shops (and their parking lots) at Christmas.

You can’t go wrong with the Amy Grant Christmas albums…we grew up to “A Christmas Album” and “Home for Christmas,” and we always preferred the original!

Okay so several years ago there were these CD’s at Target with Christmas Music…probably 2002, 2003, 2004…I was obsessed with them and now I can’t find them! It was Sounds of the Season or something and I loved a few songs on each one and wish I had put them in Itunes!!!! HELP!

I love Christmas music so much!! Harry Connick Jr., Tonny Bennett, Take 6, Mariah Carey and Michael Buble are all at the top. But the one I can never leave out…and I’m surprised it’s not on your list, too…NSYNC Home for Christmas!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your sweet family!

I love this post! I have read your blog a couple times and am always pleased!!! I am impressed with your shopping… I haven’t bought a single gift yet. I noticed one of your fav music choices was a 4HIM song… I have never “met” anyone outside my hometown that listened to or knew of 4HIM (though I assumed others existed). I love ALL Christmas music right now….

If you loved closer, we could go shopping together on Black Friday. No one will ever go with me so I never get to go. I used to go every year when people were brave enough but once I moved to Nashville my shopping buddies didn’t follow.

I am a very traditional Christmas girl myself… so it wouldn’t be time to put up the Christmas tree or the Christmas lights without Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole. But I do LOVE the City on the Hill Christmas album from some years ago – great songs!

Thanks for the song recommendations, I will check them out! Oh, and I love watching Home Alone while baking and wrapping gifts, too! It’s one of the best Christmas movies! 😉 And it’s too bad we don’t live closer to each other; I would totally go out for Black Friday shopping with you!

Celine Dion is one of my all time favorite christmas CD’s. I remember BELTING out the songs with my sisters when we were in our early college years…such a good time. And, I love the country song “Santa looks a lot like Daddy”, and one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs is “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”….in fact, my daughter might be getting a hippopotamus this year for Christmas, just because of that song. Actually, I just love Christmas music =)

Years ago the Judds put out a Christmas album and I still love it. It’s mostly traditional songs but my favorite is “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”, which I had never heard before. Check it out!
