bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow review and giveaway

Oh, the life of a mommy!

I promise there used to be a time when I was glamorous.

I have blogged many times about how rushed I am in the mornings. I love wearing makeup, and I love putting on my cutest outfit every day. But time doesn’t always allow for it. I wake up more tired than I was when I went to bed sometimes, but I am always so happy to see the little faces that grace my home that I end up with tons of energy just because I love them so much.

I don’t always have time to put on concealer or any kinds of creams that will help the puffiness go away. I am one of those people that really “needs” eye makeup to bring out the best of my eyes. I want to look pretty every day.

But I heard something recently in a bareMinerals® advertisement that “beauty is a force.” How cool is that? Pretty will come and go, but beauty comes from within.

Beauty is about how I treat my family, and how I feel when I walk into a room and see my husband’s face light up-even if I’m in a t-shirt and yoga pants and my hair is on top of my head. Beauty is about the way I live my life and what others see when they look at me. As cliché as it sounds, it’s what’s inside that counts. Beauty is how I feel when my two-year-old son strokes my hair and says, “Mommy has pretty hair.”

But, while all those things are great, there is something to be said for outer beauty.

I recently discovered bareMinerals READY™ Eyeshadow 2.0. I received The Scenic Route eyeshadow shades in Breathtaking + Spectacular. Breathtaking is a very light base color while Spectacular is this gorgeous green/copper color that works so great with blue eyes.

There was an insert in the package with little tips on how to wear the colors for daytime and how to wear them for evening. You can wear the same colors all day long for any occasion. And the best part? They really stay on all day long. It’s amazing!

The READY Eyeshadow looks like a powder, but it feels like a cream. It’s very thick, and the colors are so rich and vibrant. I can put this on first thing in the morning. The two colors go a long way and work to reduce puffiness and add some gorgeous color to my eyes. And it’s so fast and easy! Perfect for my busy mommy lifestyle.

There are some amazing You Tube videos from bareMinerals on how to apply the READY Eyeshadow. I watched a few of these when trying to learn all the different ways and options for applying the eyeshadow. I want to encourage all of you to watch the videos here for some great application techniques and ideas. http://www.youtube.com/user/BareEscentuals

I want people to think I’m pretty, sure, and I will always make a little extra effort to look pretty. But I know that beauty is so much more than pretty and so much more than what’s on the outside.

I am giving away one bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0. (Retail price $20).

A force of beauty is one that carries herself better than she feels. I am going through some tough times right now, and I tell myself to look better than I feel so I will then feel better! It actually helps me feel stronger and more confident.

  2. says

I believe a force of beauty could be multiple things. A woman who has no idea how beautiful she is and therefore isn’t self-conscious about it. Or, it could be a woman who takes good care of herself, and yet the world knows that is not what she cares about, her priorities are family and friends. I would love some new makeup. As the mom of a 7 month old, I don’t always get to put much effort in how I look.

  3. says

I think the Force of Beauty is someone who is confident in her body, no matter her body type, appearance, or clothing. As long as you feel good about yourself, it doesn’t matter what others think!

  4. Mandy says

I love their powders and blushes and would love to try the eye shadow. The colors are beautiful!! I love your description of beauty. It’s spot on!

  5. Libby Johnson says

A “force of beauty” is best exemplified by a smile….at your husband when he walks in the door, at the grocery store bagger, at your child’s cute antics, or subconsciously at a funny thought or memory. Of course, fun new eye shadow would make me smile today!

  6. Laura says

The force of beauty is not as much about being pretty, but about handling yourself with grace and treating those around you with kindness and respect.

  7. Connie says

A force of beauty is the “glow” you have from being surrounded by loved ones! My face is always a little brighter when I am around my baby!

  8. says

I think the force of beauty describes the power we have as people to make others feel beautiful or ugly. A woman who is a force of beauty takes care of herself, and appreciates the beautiful in others.

  9. Maureen says

Beauty is a Force….I think being truly happy and appreciative with everything you have and sharing that happiness brings out your inner beauty that no make up could possibly accomplish. But hey lets be honest some days we need a little more help with some good make up!!!!

  10. MrsK says

Force of beauty definetely comes from within–confidence and grace! However, gorgeous eyeshadows like this can not hurt.

  11. Anne says

The force of beauty means that you are able to make both yourself and those surrounding you feel strong and capable1

  12. says

I believe a Force of Beauty is when you make others feel beautiful and encouraged because you project your own inner beauty when you interact with them!

  13. Megan says

A force of beauty is…my mom, my sister, my best friend, my neighbor…a person is beautiful also by how he/she makes another feel.

  14. Elizabeth says

A force of beauty is someone who makes others feel beautiful, inside and out. It’s a person who goes above and beyond to help others and to make their world a better place.

  15. says

I think a previous commenter nailed it: force of beauty is confidence. I always find confident people to be attractive, regardless of their outer appearance.

  16. says

The force of beauty is someone who is beautiful outside and in…even if you’re not a model on the outside you can be just as pretty as one if you have inner beauty and love yourself!

  17. Sarah says

A Force of Beauty is a breath of grace and a fierce determination and confidence. I think that true beauty is so magnetic – it draws people to you; there’s an attractiveness about women with true beauty that goes so much deeper than what we see.

  18. Allison says

I think the force of beauty comes from within- a gentle, peaceful spirit, being filled with kindness and the grace of God, and someone who cares for others before herself. Thanks for the chance to win- I wear bare minerals facial makeup, and LOVE it. I would love to try out their eyeshadows.

  19. Lauren says

A force of beauty is a woman and her newborn baby! She often hasn’t showered, dressed or brushed her teeth, but that little one depends on her!

  20. says

To me, a force of beauty is a heart that loves the Lord – a beauty that radiates from the inside out =) I love Bare Minerals products and would love to try these eye shadows!

  21. says

A force of beauty is a power that is in all of us. It motivates us to put others before ourself.

I think some of the prettiest people are those who are not classically beautiful. Have you ever been around someone who is attractive, but because they aren’t a nice person it almost makes them less pretty/handsome?

  22. Tristan says

I think a force of beauty is a woman with confidence, but has no idea how much beauty and confidence she is radiating. She makes everyone around her feel beautiful, too.

  23. Tina Zimney says

I think a Force of Beauty is the mommy that wears snot, vomit, poop, etc…. drags herself out of bed in the morning even though she got up several times thru the night with her kids, doesn’t have time to shower before leaving for some errands but is proud of how being a mommy makes her look.

but the eyeshadow would sure make her feel pretty

    Tina Zimney

  24. says

Ooh, I love BareMinerals; but, I have never tried their eye products, just the foundation.

I think a Force of Beauty is an internal thing. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin and having an inner confidence (not that make-up and a cute outfit can’t help with the outward appearance).

  25. Rebecca Balderas says

Force of beauty is having confidence in yourself. You don’t compare yourself to other because you know that you are special in your own, unique way.

I love the eyeshadow and would love to try it. I love playing with makeup.

  26. says

A force of beauty to me, is living each day not for myself, but to try to live where the Lord can shine through my life. I have almost finished 6 months of chemotherapy for a cancer that gives me a 50/50 chance. You might think that any beauty or smile that a woman could have, would be gone after all that. But I have found the true beauty of being a woman, a person, a Christian, is there even in the worst of times.. as I have found the joy of the Lord shines through even in the roughest of days! He has been so wonderful to me..and has helped me through each step..and even helped my true beauty to shine through while going through cancer treatments. Others have stated it and I know it to be so true, the force of beauty is the love of the Lord shining through, when you don’t have the force on your own.

  27. Becky says

A Force of Beauty is one who recognizes the beauty in others, too. So many times women get catty and like to find flaws in others, but it’s so important to see others the way God sees them. We are ALL beautiful!

  28. says

    I LOVE bareminerals!
I think a force of beauty is someone who doesn’t place their self-worth in how outwardly beautiful they are but in what they can do to help and bring joy to others!

  29. says

A force of beauty is confidence and joy. It is laughing with friends over happy memories or inside jokes while not caring about how your laugh sounds or who hears you. It is making others feel good about themselves with an offhanded compliment or praise. It’s feeling good in your skin.

  30. Lindsay Adair says

The Force of Beauty is knowing exactly who you are and being confident in that very person! So cool to meet people who have the Force of Beauty. You can’t be more beautiful than being confident in the skin you’re in.

  31. says

Force of Beauty is being comfortable with yourself, inside and out. Yes, it would be nice to be all dolled up in heels and makeup, but if you’re comfortable with nothing on your face and sweat pants, that’s true beauty. God made us that way, and loves us even when we don’t think we look ‘pretty’ on the outside. Like you said, my husband smiles and lights up when he sees me, even if i’m in my usual attire of pj pants, tshirt and pony tail. It would be nice to surprise him with a cute face sometime!!

I am so excited to see you love this! I am a 6 year Bare Minerals user and I was singing hallelujah when I heard they were finally making pressed pigments! We also just got our own boutique here in Savannah and I must have been there for hours playing in everything and asking so many questions!

  34. Cali says

I LOVE bare minerals and as a mom and teacher anything that makes it easier to look nice is a plus in my book! Thanks for hosting.

  35. Jessica G. says

A woman possessing a force of beauty exudes peace and quiet confidence. She knows Whose she is, and the grace that spills out of her brings awe to those she comes in contact with.

  36. says

A force of beauty to me means helping someone else discover THEIR inner beauty. Encouragement of others shows your own confidence and true inner beauty… which is key. Oh and someone in killer shoes!

  37. jessa r. says

a force of beauty is someone with conviction, someone who believes in herself. someone who knows that her light will still shine even when facing the darkness of loneliness.

  38. says

I have been a Bare Minerals user for about 8 years. I adore the way my skin feels when I use their products. For me, the force of beauty is how you feel with yourself. You dont NEED a stitch of make up for feel beautiful…. you need inner confidence…. you need to feel right about yourself. That is what it means to me!

  39. says

A force of beauty to me is a person who let’s their personality be the spotlight. Beauty can only shine through with someone who is is beautiful on the inside!

Anyone try the Bare Minerals foundation? Just curious as it is expensive and wanted other “real” opinions!

  40. says

To me, beauty comes from the joy projected through the actions you take everyday. When you enter a room with positive energy and true JOY, you are beautiful!

  41. says

Erin, I am not going to enter, but I just really wanted to see a pic of the eyeshadow on ya 🙂 I just recently went into Ulta for the first time in a while and saw the bare minerals sections. I pondered buying somethings, but then chickened out 🙁 I just have to see things before I buy them, ya know! So if ya get a chance would you mind doing a before/after post with the makeup? Thanks :))))

  42. says

I’d love to try this! I think the force of beauty has to do with self confidence – when you know you spent time getting ready and look good, you feel better and are able to conquer the world.

  43. Marissa says

a force of beauty is someone who makes a positive difference in the world around them. that world may be small, but the difference is powerful and large!

  44. Kim says

Beauty is in all aspects in our lives. From the way we treat others to the way we portray ourselves to the world. Exude an aura of confidence and you will have a beautiful life.

  45. says

I’m excited about this eye shadow! I love BE’s stuff already, but I think this would make me love them even more!

As for defining a force of beauty…it’s not about how put together you look. No, to me, a force of beauty is someone who’s inner beauty shines & defines who they are on the inside and the outside. People like that are beautiful in such a way that make up isn’t necessary, but just enhances. Make sense? Probably not…I haven’t had coffee yet!!

    Oh, I also tweeted: https://twitter.com/#!/maliasma/status/129179651540127745

  46. Jen Tepe says

A Force of Beauty to me is the person who is beautiful on the outside because they exudes all the traits and characteristics that make them beautiful from within and knows you don’t have to have full face makeup, a designer bag or name brand clothes on to feel confident or great!

  47. says

I would define a force of beauty as someone who uses their power for good. Beauty doesnt have to be related to aesthetics.

I have so wanted to try these shadows. They look richly pigmented!

  48. katie says

A force of beauty is someone who knows they look good with or without make-up. I personally love make up and particularly eye shadows and have a ton of them but I dont have this.

  49. erin says

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder- you have to think that you, yourself are beautiful before anyone else can…

  50. says

I believe that a force of beauty is someone who is beautiful on the inside… and that beauty shows through on the outside! :]

    That eyeshadow looks gorgeous!!!

  51. Sarah W says

Audrey Hepburn couldn’t of said it better:

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge you are never alone.”

One of my favorite quotes I try to live by everyday. Of course Bare Minerals is one of my favorites for outer beauty 🙂

  53. Sara says

The force of beauty is knowing who you are and what you stand for. It’s showing grace, being kind, confident and compassionate!

  54. Amber says

I beleive that a force of beauty is being confident in your own skin. Some people can feel beautiful as soon as they wake up in the morning and roll out of bed while it takes others of us a little extra time to feel beautiful. No matter what the morning beauty regimend is the end result is always the same; a confident woman who is ready to meet the day head on!

  55. Kara says

I think that confidence defines beauty–not cockiness but being cOnfidnet in who you are. Knowing that God made u from the inside out and being proud of that

Force of beauty is having a positive attitude, love for yourself and others, and confidence within yourself. Force of beauty is what ever makes you happy. 🙂

To me a force of beauty is someone who is confident in herself and not obsessed with material things or superficial beauty.

  58. says

You have to have a beautiful soul to be a force of beauty! I have never known a pretty girl on the outside without her being a pretty girl on the inside! Be comfortable in your own skin and be good to others, then you’ll be a force of beauty 🙂

  59. Jaime S. says

I believe that Force of Beauty is a combination of things: Love, compassion, desire, loyalty, confidence, laughter…all within a woman who loves to take care of herself and look pretty. =)

  60. Alicia says

I think a force of beauty is someone who is confident yet understated. You’d never suspect she was a vixen but there’s just something about a force of beauty that radiates confidence and subtle sexiness. With or without makeup this person is beautiful on the inside and out.

  61. Robbie says

I think force of beauty, really means confident. Whether or not you are wearing much make up, you pull it off because you really are just confident in your own skin.

  62. elaine says

a force of beauty is someone who is confident — not just in herself, but in what she wants to do with her life and in her own abilities! 🙂

  64. Susan Smith says

Force of Beauty means being confident, having a nice smile and being nice to others. I can come from within and well as how you look on the outside.

  65. LAMusing says

Beauty is confidence. Nothing like the glow of a woman who feels good about herself. so re: make-up – some days it’s not needed, other days I can use a boost

  66. Rhonda-Lyn Millhouse says

The definition of beauty? It starts from within- strength, confidence, generous, calm, positive, nice, unselfish, honest, giving.

  67. brittany says

A force of beauty is EVERY mom who finds love within her family and allows that love to bring out the confidence inside her.

  68. says

You know, this sounds wonderful for blue eyes. I recently tried a ‘green-copper’ eye shadow set from a local retailer, and I was not disappointed. With Bare Minerals, it would have to be so much more healthier for my eyes (they are sensitive due to allergies).
I find beauty in strong genuine eyes when you see people have a great, big laugh. Laughter is a good way to remain beautiful.

  69. Megan says

I describe force of beauty as being content with what you have! If you are content….beauty will shine in all areas!

  70. Debra F says

I try to embrace all my features….those that I appreciate and even those that are not ideal. I use my makeup to enhance my beauty….not cover it up, and always remember the old cliche that beauty truly comes from within.

  71. says

Love the idea of “force of beauty.” Like you Erin-I would say my current force of beauty is still feeling beautiful when my hubby comes home and I’m still in my sweatpants and a ponytail. Perhaps some new eyeshadow will spruce things up!!

  72. Chelsi says

I love BareMinerals! I remember back in 2004 when my mom & I first stocked up in their boutique store in San Fran while there for a weekend. I’ve used their products ever since! I actually have this shadow and the muse & passion set (purple). Love them! I’m a masara & liner only girl usually for everyday but these are easy!

Their outlook on beauty being a force is admirable, especially in an industry that promotes the opposite in many ways. I agree that beauty encompasses so much more than pretty. Beauty is a way of life, not the size of your jeans or shade of lipstick.

A force of beauty is someone that is confident inside and out. They don’t care what the world thinks and rocks it from every angle. It is who and what I aspire to be.
