the LOVE list

I missed blogging on Thursday. I very rarely go a weekday without blogging. But I just didn’t have it in me yesterday. I was tired, overwhelmed with schedule stuff, not feeling well and busy taking care of the precious members of my family.

I did want to use Friday’s post to talk about what I’m loving this week!

New TV Shows

So I completely missed premiere week. I was distracted and busy, but I had a lot of down time during the day this week because both boys took epic naps because they weren’t feeling well. And because I wasn’t feeling well, I used nap time to catch up on the DVR. And I did a lot of catching up!

I’m officially addicted to Homeland, Pan Am and Revenge.

Homeland is this incredible drama/thriller on Showtime about a CIA agent who is investigating a POW who was found alive and returned home. She suspects that he has “turned” to the other side and is now on a mission to threaten the United States. I’m hooked! It’s awesome!

Pan Am is based on flight attendants and pilots in the 1960s and it explores different political and historical topics each week. It’s really fun, entertaining and the 1960s fashion is pretty great.

Revenge is my newest guilty pleasure. The people are beautiful. The scenery is beautiful. And the story is scandalous. But I love it!

Getting Acquainted With My Camera

I have had my DSLR camera for almost three years now and I have only ever taken it off of automatic mode a handful of times. I know this is shameful. But this week I’ve changed all of that! My friend, Crist, and I are taking a photography class (called Hop, Skip, Snap) Β for the next few weeks with the wonderful Brooke Turner of Brooke Turner Photography. She’s a photographer and a mom and she wants to help us learn to use our cameras so we can get the most out of it. I’m so excited! I had a great night learning things about my camera that I never knew and now I have a wish list of new lenses that I want. Hello, Christmas list!

Candy Corn and Peanuts

Need I say more? Really. I mean, this is just the greatest snack. I’m so thankful for a sweet friend who delivered a little bag of this snack and a Starbucks latte to my door this morning. What a great pick-me-up on a dreary Thursday morning!

Halloween Party Planning

I have been having such a great time making plans for our Halloween party. I have a ton of props and things saved from past parties that I can use. And I already blogged about a successful trip to Hobby Lobby. I got all of my printables from Sweet Birdie’s Nest and I’m just so excited! Have you ordered yours?

A Slow Week

Yes. That’s right. I’m not happy we were sick. But it really did end up being a great week. We had lots of time to just hang out and be together at home. It wasn’t easy to feel refreshed because we just didn’t feel well, but I think we did come out feeling a little refreshed.

Hudson memorizes a scripture verse every month at school and this month they learned John 15:14 “Jesus says, ‘You are my friends.'”

He will say the whole thing and it’s just the sweetest little sound. I’m so thankful for my family.

I didn’t really watch any new shows other than Up All Night…it’s my new fave. I’m trying not to get hooked on new shows because with twin babies, we have a hard time watching the shows we DVR already!
Once you go manual on your camera, you’ll never go back to automatic. πŸ™‚
Also, totally agree with you about candy corn & peanuts.
Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

Oh My….we are addicted to Homeland here too. I’ve always been a Claire Danes fan and she is so great in this show. Just when we thought about canceling all the premium channels, this show comes on and blows us away!

Hope you guys are feeling better!!!!

The manuals that come with cameras aren’t very helpful; not sure of what camera you have, but I adore David Busch–when I got my 5D Mark II last year I dorked around with online stuff and the manual that came with it and then I bought his book. Honestly, I learned more in ten minutes with his manual than I had anywhere else.

Not sure if you’re a canon or nikon girl…if it’s the latter I have no advice, but if you’re canon the first lens you should buy is the 50mm F/1.8 lens–it’s light, cheap (less than $100), shoots amazingly in low light and prime lenses are much easier when you’re learning how to use manual settings on a DSLR.

Yay for using your camera out of automatic! I went to classes when I first bought my T1i and was literally shaking with excitement afterwards and now I shoot in manual with my 60D. I lourved my 50 mm 1.8 lens with my T1i and then when I bought my 60D I upgraded to the 50 mm 1.4. Great lenses for shooting kids! have fun learning!

Loving Homeland and Pan Am! I watched the first Revenge, but haven’t seen the rest. I have to cut those late shows out of my viewing schedule in favor of MORE SLEEP! Still just can’t get enough. Hope you are feeling better, friend! xoxo

Pan Am is the greatest new show! I just love it! It makes me think of the movie “Catch me if you can” every time and I laugh because I keep expecting Leonardo DeCaprio to make an appearance πŸ™‚

I absolutely love Revenge, I think it is definitely my favorite new show this fall! I’m also really enjoying Pan Am!
I’m so glad you’ve had a nice slow week at home. Even if you were sick, some lazy family time at home is always a nice break!

Sorry you all felt sickie this week- but it sounds like it turned out to be a nice week after all. Great that you got to enjoy time with the boys and actually rest. Rest= catching up on tv.
My husband is great with his DSLR camera (I think he’s a photographer) and has tried to teach me how to use it, but for some reason my mind can’t seem to remember anything he says. Ha! Poor guy has been so patient, but I just revert back to my little digital camera. Maybe I should start paying attention and taking notes.

It’s like you are my tv watching twin…those are my 3 favorite shows of the season, too:) I finally caught an episode of Up All Night and found it amusing and completely relatable considering I’m a new mommy. Hope everybody in your household is back to good health next week. I fear we are about to have a sick week here…I woke up with a sore throat and the baby has been sneezing all morning:(

Ah, Revenge – best show on TV right now, IMO. I’m always afraid to get into good dramas like that, though, because a few years back I love, love, LOVED a show called “Reunion”. Does anyone remember that one? Well I was HOOKED on the mystery of it and then they cancelled it after about 6 episodes! Biggest Bummer. Ever. Hopefully tons and tons of people are watching Revenge so that won’t happen.

What channel is Homeland on? I’ve never heard of it.

  13. says

I’ve been intrigued by the promos for Revenge. After reading your post, I went online and watched the first episode — yep, I’m officially hooked!! I can’t wait to catch up on the other few I’ve missed!

We just got Showtime when Homeland started, we’d never heard of the show but got it because our cable bill will actually be CHEAPER to have all of the movie channels. we watched the pilot and were hooked! good to see a silver lining out of being sick…
