pinnable me: Halloween Parties

I’m working on some plans for a fun Halloween party. I’ve been collecting lots of fun ideas on Pinterest. A few weeks ago, I bought the Better Homes and Gardens Halloween issue. It has tons of great ideas and I found some of the photos on Pinterest.

I have three gorgeous Savannah Beverage Servers from Willow House and I’d love to do this. I love the idea of calling a signature punch “Witches Brew.” So cute!

So this is a pin of one of the pictures from BHG.com. Isn’t this party design so cute? It’s simple, it’s playful and not scary Halloween. I just love it.

This candy corn inspiration board is too cute. I love the topiary so much! And I have got to figure out how to make the tissue poms to be color-blocked like that to look like candy corn. Anyone know how to do that?

My baby shower is on October 30th with a Halloween theme. I can’t wait!!! These are going to be great…I’m sending them to the hostess as I type this.

So cute! Love all those decorations! To make the candy corn pom poms, you just layer 4 sheets each of yellow, then orange, then white tissue paper, accordion fold, round off the ends, and then fluff gently from the middle, out. Those are super cute! I am obsessed with pom poms. I use them whenever I can to decorate!

Interesting that your are in Junior League. I am quite certain that you are much like the women portrayed in the movie, HELP. Take it for what it’s worth. Women in the north loved the movie as it was so spot on about southern women. You don’t even know how bad you are, do you? I’m pretty sure that you are much the same as them, but you are less open about it.

Pom poms are so easy! layer 4-6 white then 4-6 yellow, 4-6 orange. Accordion fold and either cut the ends rounded or in a triangle point and spread them out and start pulling apart from one side to the other. For some great “kid friendly” printables check out tipjunkie.org or itsalwaysapartyattheparkers.com. htey both have some of the cutest cheap or free party prints nd both have new Halloween lines.

Wow…I was just reading the comments to see how to make those candy corn poms…when I saw the above comment from Jeannie. I live in S.C. too…and just because it’s the South…it isn’t the 1960’s. It is utterly rude to come on someone else’s blog and be negative towards them. The fact that you are judging someone because they live in the South and forming assumptions based on a movie you saw is ridiculous.

Back to the point: These ideas are great!! Currently obsessed with banners and glass beverage servers. I’m planning a vintage bridal shower for my best friend and am incorporating the banner idea.

Love the ideas!!! I’m going to use many at my Halloween party… super cute! Ignore the negative and hurtful post. No one should form assumptions purely based on geography and a movie!!! Your posts portrary you as a kind, loving, creative, involved mother, wife and friend… keep being all those things and just dismiss the negativity.

So, Jeannie Marie what got your panties in a wad today?! Seriously, rude is an understatement for your comment! While I don’t know Erin personally, I am fairly certain she is a sweet, caring person and also a people pleaser. And your comment alone says a lot about the type of person you are – rude, snobby, and jealous.

And I am a true southerner too, born and raised in Mississippi and a graduate of Ole Miss in 2002. And no we aren’t snobs or backwards down here in the south, we are actually very hospitable, welcoming, greet you on the street type of folks. While the 60’s in the south were definitely more black-white than they are now, the movie also shows a glamorized sense of this. My mother grew up in a small MS town (not Jackson), her father made a good living, and they had “help” – she never wore a uniform, she didn’t raise my mom, she actually barely cleaned, and she certainly didn’t have her own outdoor bathroom. Now if you think for on second we’re all racist “down south” in this day and age, you are well past mistaken. And I realize they are a few that still play the rac card to get attention down here, but live in our town or state or just come for a visit and you’ll see we’re all friends. And I was raised in a very good lifestyle, but I can assure you that I am no better than my neighbor and my mom always taught us to help others and give to those that were less fortunate. I also grew up with a cleaning lady that came a few days a week, and guess what she wasn’t always a black lady and we certainly didn’t treat her like crap! My sister also had a black nanny for several years and then her next one was a white lady – both were like family members regardless of thief skin color. And i’m sure there are plenty of northerners that have hired help too!

Seriously, Jeannie, if you have a problem with the way Erin lives her life then go somewhere else and if you have a problem with Southerners, then stay up North!

And sorry Erin for the long-winded rant, but her comment more than rubbed me the wrong way 😉

Halloween is my favorite holiday (behind Christmas, of course). I LOVE all the cute ideas:) I must go find the recipe for that yummy looking candy corn martini ASAP!!!

Cute post, Erin, thank you for sharing……Jeannie Marie (or whatever your real name is) you obviously have psychological issues i.e. anger, jealousy etc. for you to attack someone you do not know. Why would you follow/read a southern blog if you have such disdain for all things southern? I really hope you will look inward to find the source of your anger. Life is too short to be so miserable.
