Though he seems a little bit “off key” right now, Hudson really does love to sing. He gets a little shy at first, but when he hears a familiar (or unfamiliar) tune, he starts bobbing around and singing.
Some of our favorite music is all the Praise Baby music (CDs and DVDs) and an album called Sing Over Me that includes music from contemporary Christian artists singing praise songs and some classic Christian children’s songs.
Another singer/songwriter that we love is Elizabeth Mitchell. Her style is folksy and fun, but still really soothing when you’re sitting in the nursery rocking your baby and listening to her sweet voice on the iPod. She has a few albums and in one of her albums she collaborates with Lisa Loeb. Remember her?
Most of the music would be familiar to anyone, and my personal favorite is her arrangement of “You Are My Sunshine.” I used to sing it and just boo-hoo while rocking Hudson.
Hudson’s favorite is “Oh Susanna” or “Oh Sus-nanna” as he says. We filmed this last night to send to KK and Poppie.
(I was not compensated to endorse any of these artists. I just really love all of this kids music that is fun for adults, too, and wanted to share it with y’all!)

I just showed this to Natalie and she smiled 🙂 So cute!
he is too precious !!
What a precious video! Elizabeth Mitchell is a favorite in our house too! I’ve heard that she’s coming to the Richland County Public Library sometime this fall!!
We LOVE “Sing Over Me” AND Praise Baby!!
That is so cute! I only have a 3 month old, but sometimes the only way she will smile is if we sing to her or play music. I’ll have to check out those CD’s…right now we are sticking with Disney Classic songs, Fisher Price Lullaby CD, WombSongs (from the company Munchkin…they are free on their website), as well as the Beatles and Rolling Stones lullaby CDs. How great that music is such a huge part of your house. Love it!
too cute!
Hi Erin,
Random question but can I ask you where you bought that lovely distressed TV stand that’s in one of your pictures? I love it and it would be perfect in my family room. Thanks!
So sweet!
I banned kids music early on in my house–when my daughter (now 8) was a baby Laurie Berkner (is she still even around) was all the rage and after a few too many rounds of “Victor Vito” I decided that music was music and kids would like whatever was on. That eight year old now has a musical repertoire better than most adults; she loves show tunes, classic rock and I *love* that she naturally gravitates to artists who write their own music.
Thanks for all the great ideas this week for kids! I am a new mom to a 5 month old little boy and am always looking for ideas for toys, music, etc. I really enjoy reading your blog, enjoy your weekend!
Erin,
So cute! Hudson is just adorable and I love all of his little faces he makes (and you too!)
You are so cute and I love the video 🙂
I have been on the hunt for Praise Baby DVD’s.. as I’ve heard really good things about them. Funny that Lisa Loeb is now collaborating with Elizabeth Mitchell. I used to LOVE Lisa Loeb and as I’m typing this.. I find myself singing to her old songs ha!
Happy Friday! Have a good weekend

Oh how cute! You are like the 5th person to recommend Praise Baby, so I think I need to get it. There are also some free Pandora stations that you can listen to on your iphone through the app. We listen to the lullaby and toddler folk stations a lot.
Oh my HEAVENS, that was a precious video! What a great and informative post, E. And I have to say, you are looking SMOKIN’ HOT, little mama! You look amazing, I am so proud of you!!!
So cute!!! My grandson’s,who will be 4 in December, favorites include “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” by the Temptations(thanks to his Grandfather) and “Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night”(thanks to his Mother)!
Cute, cute, cute! 🙂
LOVE it and we hope to teach my daughter the same song, as that’s my name!
So cute! I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more adorable videos of Hudson!
Very cute!

Oh.My.Gosh! Erin, this is such a sweet video of you and Hudson! What a blessing to see and hear you enjoying your precious little boy. You look beautiful and happy. Have a wonderful weekend.

You know I watched this video the other day, but I just came across it again in my Google Reader and had to comment.
He is so adorable! And you? You look great!!!
PS: I looovveee that shirt 🙂
We love Sing Over Me and all the Elizabeth Mitchell songs. Kate (19 months) is really into the “choo choo” song (“Little Red Caboose”), and she knows all the right places to shout, “choo choo!” I can’t wait for her to actually be able to sing. Their little toddler voices are just so precious.
I remember you saying that Hudson would hum along with music in the car before he was even one year. Maybe music will be a talent for him!
Aw, that was so cute!
I love your earrings by the way.
OMG. Literally the cutest thing I have ever. seen. in. my. entire. life. I WANT TO EAT HIM UP WITH A SPOON! He is PRECIOUS!
