A weekend recap post isn’t the most creative thing in the world, but we did have a pretty great weekend and I want to remember it. I am sure that this post will be sugary sweet, but I don’t care. We had a great weekend!
(I have found with blogging that you will be criticized for never complaining and then as soon as you complain you’re called a “complainer.”)
Hudson finished up swim lessons on Friday. He had two great weeks of swim lessons with a good instructor that he loved. He was so excited every day about swimming and by the end of the two weeks, he was jumping off the side of the pool and swimming to his instructor! I’m so proud of him! Before he’d go under or jump, he’d count. But he doesn’t count to three. He says, “1, 2, “free”, 4, 5!”
On Friday night, we just stayed in and watched more Friday Night Lights. We had a really busy day on Saturday visiting with lots of great friends, so we wanted to rest up.
On Saturday morning, TC got up and did lots of yard work before it got really hot. Hayes has been doing lots of 10-11 hour stretches and we are so excited. I can’t say enough great things about Moms on Call!
Hayes is seriously the sweetest baby. He is just so content and only fusses when he’s sleepy or hungry. And he is on such a great schedule that we know when he’s going to be sleepy and hungry. He usually just looks around and smiles at everything. Hudson is an amazing kid, but he was not a content baby and always wanted to be sitting up somewhere or moving around. I just can’t believe how different they are and how I love them both so so much!
While TC was doing yard work, Hudson played in his water table that he got for his birthday. He loves this thing!
Our friends came over on Saturday and we had a great day. We went to dinner on Saturday night, and Hudson almost ruined our meals. Just kidding. He took a bite of his chicken finger and threw up all over the table. My friend’s husband was mortified and even now, thinking about him trying not to look at Hudson’s “mess” makes me crack up laughing! TC and I minimized the drama and after getting sick, Hudson laughed and said, “no chicken!” I guess he just didn’t want any chicken because he was feeling great after that. Poor guy!
TC and I seem to have mastered the Sunday morning get up and get dressed Β and get everyone fed routine. It can be a little hectic around here on Sunday mornings, but we had the rhythm down today! We had a great morning at church and had a fun lunch with some friends after church. Thankfully, both boys were really well-behaved again and Hudson didn’t get sick this time!
TC’s parents came over to babysit Hudson and Hayes while TC and I went to a movie. We were so excited to get out of the house in the middle of the day and go see a movie!
We decided to go see Horrible Bosses. And honestly? I don’t ever need to see it again. I was so disappointed in Jennifer Aniston’s character and how raunchy she was. I can easily get past the language because I feel like the language comes with the territory of seeing a movie these days. But I just wasn’t expecting her to be so vulgar. Oh well. It was still good to get out and go to the movies. We also took a super romantic trip to the grocery store!
We ended our weekend with Hudson playing in the sprinkler outside. He is just so much fun and life with a toddler is full of simple happiness. Anything makes him laugh and it doesn’t take much to keep him entertained and happy. It was a fun night!

Sad about the movie, d wants to see it…guess I’ll be vetoing that. I don’t do raunchy. C counts just like Hudson, except after 5 comes, “sit” and “seben”! π
That makes me sad that people are criticizing your blogging! How silly – I would have such a hard time NOT taking that personally because I put myself and my feelings out there for the world to see. I think Hayes looks just like you! You and your boys (and the pup as well) are all beautiful and I love reading your blog!
A few things:
1. This is an awesome post. Life is sometimes great and sometimes not so much, and you have to record both.
2. Isn’t it amazing how little bothers you when you have kids? Throwing up on a table . . . no biggy. Been there done that. Just glad that he didn’t get sick anymore. Poor buddy.
3. Hayes is adorable.
4. I know this is more than a few, but it’s also funny how after kids dates involve grocery shopping.
Glad y’all had such a great weekend.
What a fun weekend! Hayes is getting so big. Have yall moved him up to the 3 month schedule yet? Emmeline gets sooo fussy in the evening period (since they sleep so much and so good during the day) that we moved her to that schedule. She is now going to sleep between 8 and 830. But you’re right, Moms on Call is AH-MA-ZING!
Your guys are adorable as always! I was in Charleston this weekend and it was soo dang hot!! I always think about my favorite blogger when I drive through your area π I heard Horrible Bosses was hilarious..hmmmmm. Good for you and your hubs having a date!! Looks like a great weekend.
Hey!! I just came across your blog and noticed you have 2 boys about the same age as my 2 boys! How old is Hayes? We also live about 2 hours away from each other!! I look forward to following you and your sweet family!!
Oh man! I thought Jennifer Aniston was hilarious! My husband and I saw it last night as well and I think she was funny & looked super hot! I guess I feel like she was as raunchy as a lot of male comedic actors have been recently (and I’m guessing she was directed to be like that?). But different strokes for different folks! Maybe I have a special place in my heart for J. Aniston because I’m obsessed with Rachel Green? HAHA! Sounds like you had a great weekend and your sons are adorable.
Hudson and Hayes look so much alike! They are both just so adorable π I’m glad you brought up the water table. I had been thinking about getting Bryson one and it’s good to know that Hudson likes it! Looks like y’all had a great weekend!!
Hey! So glad you all had a great and relaxing weekend. Happy that you and TC got some alone time even if it was seeing J.A. in a character that was far fetched from her past roles.
Hopefully, you got to stay cool in this SC heat.
What a great weekend! I am so glad you took Hudson to swim classes so I can ask you this question. I know Hudson had tudes put in a couple of months back and so has my daughter Bella. I was wandering what type of ear plugs you use for him in water? I have been wanting to put Bella in lessons but have been worried about water in her ears.
What a great weekend! Hudon looks like he had a blast in the sprinkler π
Have heard that jennifer was super excited to play a different type of character in that movie. She is also good friends with chelsea handler and that is her humor type so maybe rachel green isnt so sweet!
What a great weekend!! I love it! Sounds perfect to me! I can’t wait for ALM to take swim lessons next year! π And Hayes looks more like his beautiful mama every day π
Your boys are just so precious π
This is an adorable post! One of the reasons I love your blog is that my boys are now seven, and
coming here takes me back to the days of swimming lessons, running around in sprinklers…everything you write about in this post and so many others. My philosophy is that if someone can’t say something nice, they should not say (write) anything at all. There is enough strife in this world…why on earth would someone criticize a young mother just doing her best to keep her attitude positive? Keep smiling, and take it in stride!
Ok, that swim instructor is pretty easy on the eye. ha!
I bought Mason (my nephew) a water table for his first birthday and he loves it!
I kind of loved that Jennifer Aniston was SO over the top raunchy – it was so unexpected from her! Plus I always loved playing villains back in my theater days – I bet it was fun for her to be so out of her “box.”
And I agree with Lindsey… that swimming instructor is H-O-T! π
Love it! What a great weekend π
Ok, so I got the Moms on call book… still not 100% sure about their bed time schedule, but it seems to be working for you guys! We need to compare notes!
I recognize Gordon! We loved him. He was so great with Claytor, just calm and sweet, but still tough enough to get his face in the water. I told him he needed to become a pediatrician or something where he can work with kids. and I had to laugh at the other poster’s comment. I thought he was gorgeous….but get this, he’ll only be a SOPHOMORE in college. That’s how young he is! I think this is hysterical we are all talking about him, but he was even more adorable in person. SERIOUSLY.
Have no desire to see Horrible bosses.
Loved the end of FNL and we recently went to go see Super 8 and it was awesome.
Oh my gosh. Hudson in those sprinkler photos is too darn cute! I love him π And Hayes is getting so big. He is looking more and more like his momma as he gets bigger!!
ahh:) such presh pictures:) Yay for good swim lessons:) Hayes looks so precious! Love him! I miss you
