I’m linking up with Stefanie at Paw Prints and Pastry Bags again. Visit her blog for all of the other fun “pins” from the week!
Back to school season is here. I love going to Target and seeing the aisles of school supplies. That yellow and green Crayola box just screams “back to school” to me. I always pretended to be a teacher when I was growing up and I still think it would be so much fun to organize a classroom and get everything set up. I’ll just live vicariously through all of my teacher friends!
I love the quote from You’ve Got Mail:
“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies.
I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”
We’re still in the middle of July and the temperatures are far from fall-like. But the school supplies on the shelves have me inspired and counting down the days to cooler temperatures and relief from the oppressive heat.
I pinned some really fun back to school ideas on Pinterest this week.
I love these jars of pencils, rulers, and apples. They’d be the perfect table center piece for back to school week at home. Or in a classroom, if I had one.
My friend, Samma, pinned this photo and it reminds me of getting my YM or Seventeen magazine back in high school and I loved the plaid skirts and knee socks. I didn’t grow up in the 70s, of course, but plaid skirts and knee socks always make me think of going back to school.
These little “First Day of School” happies would be so sweet to send with your child to school or let your child pass them out to all of his or her friends. They’re so cute and filled with candy and small school supplies. And of course a little “good luck” note!
Amy Atlas is the queen of candy buffets and displays. This back to school party theme is absolutely adorable.
I would love to set the table like this at home for my kids. The ruled paper and place settings to look like a desk are just too cute. Hopefully it actually helps kids get excited about the end of summer and the beginning of a new year!
This flower arrangement is too cute! In fact, I may do this in August. I love the little magnetic letters filling the vase. How cute! My kids may have to bring this to their teachers on the first day of school someday!
This adorable Martha Stewart cupcake with the worm coming out of the apple! How cute!

Stop it!!! There are still several weeks before this day. Some of us (ahem…teachers!) are not so excited about this whole back to school thing. I just about cried when I saw the aisle of stuff at Target in EARLY July. I had only been out for 2 weeks!
Even though I’m not quite ready to go back to school yet, I can’t help but get excited when I walk into Target and see all the new school supplies sitting out. I have a special love for cute little sticky notes and paper (which I even have a hard time opening and using–I like to look at in the pretty package). I love the magnetic letters in the vase with flowers. I’m thinking about using those in my apothecary jars! Love your pins and can’t wait for the fall!
I’m way beyond needing school supplies and I don’t have kids who will be starting school but I still love walking the aisles and buying myself a new notebook and pens around this time of year. There’s just something exciting about a fresh start!!
It’s so hard to believe that it’s already time to start thinking about back to school! Unlike Rachel, we only have a couple of weeks before the first day of school. It’s all I think about these days!
Although I’m enjoying my summer way too much to get excited about back to school, the school supply aisle at Target still makes me smile. There’s nothing better than getting re-organized and prepared for a brand new year!
Oh how I love all of these pins! Not to mention the You’ve Got Mail quote, I can’t get enough of that movie. I love all of your great finds!
I love that quote and that movie! I also really love school supplies. I guess now its office supplies since I don’t have any kiddos yet but there is something so refreshing about new supplies. Love these picks!
Love every single one!! May just finally inaugurate my Pinterest with some of these! xoxo
As a kindergarten teacher, these pictures make my heart sing! I love new school supplies!
Love the You’ve Got Mail quote! As a teacher, though, I’m nowhere NEAR ready for the kiddos to come barreling back into my room, but I do love me some brand new school supplies, so I guess it evens out 🙂
That’s my favorite quote from “You’ve Got Mail” 🙂
I used to love going back to school shopping when I was little! I think that was one of the best days of the year for me. I would pack my new school bag with all of my new school supplies about a month before the first school day 🙂
Great ideas! Pinnable Me Fridays are so fun!!!
I went into Target last week (mom was watching my kids) and I was able to walk around the back to school section…I loved it!
I was always really excited to go back to school and to get fresh new supplies..
Sorry but us teachers aren’t so thrilled. 🙁 I have just over two weeks until I go back to work, and the kids follow two weeks later. Maybe if I knew it would be cooler soon, but in Tx, Sept. will still be sweltering. Cute ideas though. I may borrow a few.
I love back to school shopping! I have a weakness for composition notebooks. Love them and feel the need to stock up even though I have nothing to compose! Your post yesterday brought me back to my days of organizing my binder before school. I may need to make a home organization book just to relive the old days!!
Have you read Dandelion Wine with it’s summer and then back to school glory?
I love when the aisles fill with school supplies. I can’t wait to get that first list. I always loved choosing a new lunch box and back pack. Monroe starts Mother’s Morning Out in September and I already have a few new school themed Jon Jons monogramed and ready to go. 🙂
Even though I’m taking this next year off from teaching to be with my baby, I love “back to school” time. I love picking a new theme for my classroom, decorating, organizing, and personalizing the room with the students’ names so they all feel welcome. It’s great to get a fresh start each August (before the chaos of the year can set in).
Love the flowers with the little letters in the jar, that is SO CUTE!! I wonder if my little guy would be willing to bring that in on the first day?! 🙂
