catch up!

It’s time to play a little bit of catch up, or as Hudson would say, “wetch up.”

1. We just returned from a really fun holiday weekend in Bentonville, Arkansas celebrating my best friend, Catherine. She married her best friend in a gorgeous ceremony and true down home reception. I got to see lots of new and old friends and it was just a great time! Unfortunately, I didn’t get a single picture on her wedding day, but got one of my Matron of Honor, Jennifer.

Catherine’s maiden name is Traylor and his last name is Parks. We all got a huge kick out of this when they started dating because her name would be Traylor Parks someday. They decided to embrace it and do some adorable things at the reception like have an air stream trailer and set the bar up in front of it. The whole wedding was so charming and had such an adorable sense of humor.

2. My sweet boys did great on the plane. TC was with us and my parents met us there to help out so TC and I could attend all the wedding events. Hudson is so used to flying that he knows exactly what to do when he gets on a plane now. And Hayes is at such an easy age where he sleeps all the time, so it was a really uneventful trip… on the way there.

On the way home, however, we were delayed for nearly 6 hours in Atlanta. This included boarding the plane then getting off the plane because of weather. And then boarding again, pushing back from the gate, and then finding out that we couldn’t take off… again! So we got off the plane again. It was all very annoying because we had the boys with us. They did fine, but eventually Hudson reached his limit where he really wanted to go to sleep and Hayes was hungry, but we only had so much formula left and I was trying to save it for as long as possible.

TC took this picture of me when we got on the plane for the last time. We made it home around 1:00 a.m. and should have been home around 5:30 p.m. Oh, the joys of flying these days! (That’s my “You’re in big trouble, Delta” face and my leftover bridesmaid hair.)

3. I have been glued to the Casey Anthony murder trial this summer. We were even watching it in the hotel this weekend. It was the perfect post-baby activity since we did so much sitting around. I can’t believe it is over. TC can’t figure out why I was so interested in it and I don’t really have a definite answer for that either. All I’m going to say, though, is hug your children and hold on tight.

4. I feel like all I talk about these days is how much Hayes is sleeping, but we had a big break through last night! Hayes went from 9:00 p.m.-6:45 a.m.! I feel great. And then Hudson slept until 10:30 a.m. this morning. I think the long day of flying caught up with him.  We’re all happy to be well-rested.

GO HAYES!!!! I am getting ready to transition Emmeline to the 3 month schedule since she isn’t eating in the middle of the night anymore!

We went skiing back in December and were scheduled to fly back two days before Christmas. We spent 8 hours sitting in the Reno airport, and then almost missed our plane in Phoenix. Before kids it would be no big deal but after it’s just more stressful.

I didn’t watch the Casey Anthony trial until the closing arguments. I knew I would get way too wrapped up. Guess what? I got wrapped up anyway. I think for me the draw has something to do with being a mother and loving my child more than life itself.

BTW you look awesome in that plane picture. I cannot believe that you look that good after waiting for so many hours.

I’ve been reading your blog for a while but have never commented. I am from Bentonville and just happened to deliever cakelettes (cakeballs) to the Traylor’s for the bridal luncheon. I saw the Traylor Park Bar and about died! So funny! Your boys are adorable!

Hurray! I am so glad Hayes is sleeping well for you. I felt like a new woman when Kate finally slept 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Hopefully he will keep up the good sleeping for you 🙂 And I am glad you had a good time at the wedding – it is good to get out and have some fun!

Welcome home! Wish we could have had a blog meet up when you were here, but I know you MUST have been extremely busy on this holiday weekend! Next time!! 🙂

I can explain why I was so interested and invested in the Casey Anthony trial. Maybe it’s similar for you. I know for me, being a mother, I can not begin to understand the behavior Casey showed in the month or so following the disappearance of little Caylee. There might be reasoning that I don’t know, but not having a plausible explanation for it makes it easy to get involved and have emotions for sweet Caylee. Just a thought…

So I’m dying to know what your connection to Bentonville is? I recently moved to your area – well, about 45 mins from Columbia – from Bentonville of all places. I wonder if we know people in common? What a small world!

I love that picture of you on the plane with your tired boys! I can’t imagine traveling with that many delays with little ones.

Hi Erin- Can you tell us the earrings and necklace you wore in your plane picture. They look very pretty and I would love to know more about them!

    Hey Erin,
Read your blog all the time but never post. I saw your mention of the Casey Anthony trial. I am not a mother yet but was a prosecutor for a few years (in Orlando no less). I think for me, and a lot of women, you see Caylee who was obviously discarded by her mother. Then you see the rest of the family coming to Casey’s aid. It makes you feel like someone needs to step in and show support for the victim; to be a pseudo-family for her. Its one of the things that drives many prosecutors who handle these types of cases.

    Hudson is too cute!!

I tried the Moms on Call and my little guy is sleeping from 10pm-6:30am!! Thank so much for spreading the word! I am definitely a believer now. My husband and I have our room back! LOL.

  14. says

My husband asked me the same question about the Casey A. trial! I was beyond glued! And likewise had no good response as to why. . .and then the verdict. . .Can you believe it??

Ok you really need to tell me how you got Hayes to sleep through the night. I have a 5 1/2 week old, who I am dying to sleep through the night.. hmm.. maybe my expectations are too much for such a little guy? Do share!
