checking in!

Hello, lovelies!

Our household has taken a turn in a great way in the last few days. After I wrote my post on Monday, I got a comment from a sweet reader with some much appreciate help and advice.

We have had Hayes on a pretty strict schedule, sleeping in his own room, swaddled with white noise since the day we brought him home from the hospital. But after some chatting with my friend and another friend, I decided there was one place where I was making a mistake. And that was our bedtime routine.

Both of these sweet friends referred me to Moms on Call, which is a sleeping training and parenting guide developed by pediatric nurses who are also moms in the Atlanta area. I watched their online seminar, took vigorous notes, made a few changes to our bedtime routine, and Hayes slept 8.5 hours! It’s a miracle! Since then, he has slept anywhere from 7-8.5 hours each night. I feel like we’re heading down a great path.

Visit Moms on Call for more information and watch their online seminar or buy the book. I’m a believer!

Another super fun development since Monday’s post… The Gamecocks won the College World Series! For the second straight year! We are so excited and feel like our two little boys are good luck charms for Gamecock baseball.

Here’s a picture of Hudson from last year’s parade celebrating our 2010 College World Series victory! We won’t make it to this year’s parade, but we are just so excited for the University and the state of South Carolina.

That’s wonderful about your sweet baby Hayes getting such a good night’s sleep– I’m sure it’s been quite beneficial to your own sleep as well! My boyfriend followed the baseball tournament and I have to admit that you came to my mind when they won! I’m also trying to convince him that SC would be a fab place to move, so this only worked in my favor 🙂

Go Gamecocks!!!! I’m a University of South Carolina alum too, and I was so excited when my husband told me yesterday that the USC baseball team won another College World Series. They are a powerhouse team for sure. I wish that I was back in Columbia to celebrate their victory 🙂

Hooray! I’m so glad Moms On Call worked for you! I recommended it to my friend, Turner, who recommended it to you!!! It LITERALLY saved my life and my marriage! So glad you have a sleeper now!!!

I’m intrigued by Moms on Call and your 8.5 hours of sleep! I’ve been trying to do Baby Whisperer with my almost 8 week old and have had some difficulty in the afternoons with naps and more recently getting him to go to bed after out bedtime routine and stay asleep. The most we’ve had is a 5.5 hour stretch of sleep. I’d love to have more…

Ok, I am going to give Mom On Call a try. My little man takes his naps, but he does not sleep through the night. It can’t hurt to try right?!!

I used Moms on Call with my first, and loved it! Their book is full of so much useful info too. Anytime my son was sick, I’d always call the doctor. And, sure enough – their advice always aligned with the Moms on Call book. Good recommendation!

Well I’m an Aggie, and if you recall, you guys kicked our butts quite swiftly, but hey … if you’re going to lose, might as well lose to the people that go on to win the whole darn thing! Congrats on that!

Bedtime routines ARE tricky. We give our 13 month old a bit of milk, she then asks for a book and gets one read to her while she tries to turn the pages constantly … but hey, she sleeps from 9 to 9 so I am one happy Momma!

Yeah for sleep! I am going to check out Moms on Call. Baby Whisper was great for us last time, but the same thing doesn’t always work. Its always nice to have more ideas.

I used Moms on Call too and it helped wonders. I was really nervous about getting a bedtime routine down before I went back to work when school started that August. A friend of a friend worked for them and she got Lilly to sleep perfect. They were so helpful! 🙂

LOVE Moms on Call! Laura ( one of the founders and nurse at our peds office ) did a consult with us when the triplets first came home 5 years ago. I used that same technique and schedule with our singleton ( born 3/7/11) and he started sleeping 8 hours at 6 weeks and 12 hours at 10 weeks. I get their book as a gift for every expectant mom I know! I am so glad it worked for you – happy sleeping!

I used Moms on Call with my son and it changed our life! I still use their advice today. He cried and cried when he was 3 weeks old and it turns out b/c he was tired! After I got him on a good napping schedule and used their bedtime routine he was literally a different child. It was worth every penny.

I hope you are getting more sleep now!

Sounds great! Is he sleeping an 8-8.5 hour stretch at night? Or in total? Our little guy is a similar age ( a couple of weeks younger) and he is doing 5 hours at the moment, so 8 hours would be heaven!!
