The royal wedding hype. Maybe a week-long countdown would be enough? But the Today Show and their 90 day countdown? I just don’t get it. I don’t know Prince William or Kate Middleton. I do think Kate Middleton is quite lovely and I would love her hair and wardrobe, but I don’t know her. I also think that Prince Harry is pretty nice on the eyes, too.
I will set my DVR to record the royal wedding, but until then, I just don’t have much to say about it. I’m certainly not going to speculate about what anyone will wear. How should I know?
My funny friend, Lulu, sent me a link to a UK site called “Sorry But…” and this was proudly displayed on their homepage. It made me laugh.
But the mug isn’t entirely accurate for me. I do understand that it is an historic event and the world will be watching. But can’t we start getting excited a little bit closer to the actual date?
There. I got that off my chest!
I should add that if you are a royal wedding fanatic and are super excited, I think that’s great. No judgment… I just have to avoid the 9:00 hour of the Today Show to make sure I don’t hear more Kate Middleton wedding dress speculation.

Hahaha. At least it’s not like last year where all we heard was the Chelsea Clinton wedding for months on end.
I’m excited about the Royal Wedding…but I agree with you because the Today show seriously reports on it every.single.day. I was wondering how there can be any more stories left to report on the wedding itself. I wish I was going to be home that Friday because I really want to have a lil party for it…but it’s the same morning I leave for my friends Bachelorette Party.
Someone posted this site the other day and I got a kick out of it! http://katemiddletonforthewin.tumblr.com/
I might DVR the wedding, but I’m not sure when I’ll ever get it watched!
I’m going to DVR the wedding, but there’s NO WAY I’m getting up at 4am to watch it.
Besides the fact that I think wedding planning, in general, is interesting, this wedding is no more important to me than any other. Yes, it’s historical. Yes, Kate Middleton is gorgeous (imo). But, other than that, it’s just an opportunity for me to be insanely jealous of their endless budget
Hahaha 🙂 I never ever understand how news people can even find enough crap to talk about for months before a big wedding. I agree that this is an important wedding (and I’ll definitely be watching!), but talking about it every single day between the engagement and the wedding day itself? Plus, talking about “will they or won’t they?” every single day of their courtship? Blah. No thanks. Same goes for even less important weddings/social events in the media. I just don’t get it. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some celebrity gossip, but I’ve never been able to drag things out like most news stations/magazines are able to.
Preach it sista!!!!!!!!!!
I Love you 🙂
I’m TOTALLY with ya!
I totally agree with all of you! I will watch the wedding on Hulu when I have the time.
Also have you noticed that not one of the media outlets has adhered to the continued request by the palace to stop calling her Kate, she goes by her given name of Catherine.
I thought I was the only one! I told my girlfriends to count me out for the viewing party they’re planning far too early in the morning for my liking. I’m not taking off work to watch a wedding on TV! I don’t even plan to DVR it. Her dress is the only part of any interest to me and it will be on the cover of every magazine. I’ll catch a glimpse there. I’m sure she’ll look gorgeous.
I feel you! I took last Friday off and happened to be watching, and they were speculating on where the honeymoon might be. I thought it a bit absurd!
Glad I’m not the only one that is tired of hearing about the Royal Wedding! Even People.com is annoying with their updates! I don’t plan to DVR the wedding, but I’m like ‘melissa’, the dress is the only thing I’m curious about and I’ll see it many times afterwards I’m sure!
I live in Scotland, but I am American. I was talking to my sister about this the other day. She wanted to know hoe hyped up the UK must be because The States are crazy over Royal Wedding Fever. I told her that no one even talks about it over here. It isn’t in the news. There are no commercials advertising the taping. I don’t even know when it’s going to be on! The only thing anyone might talk about is that we get the day off. It’s a National Holiday. I’ll be watching it, but no one ever talks about it over here. I think it;s funny how over the top the USA is and it isn’t even their culture or future King and Queen. It;s NOT a big deal over here where it’s all taking place!
I’m excited about the royal wedding and I will be getting up to watch it b/c i wasn’t born at the time of Diana’s, and i think it will be fun to do(though i may disagree with that while in class later haha). I do agree that it is a little overplayed in the media. It seems really overexposed, but i think that is the fault of the media. I think they are trying to re-create the hype over Diana’s wedding
Hahaha. I’m totally guilty of Royal Wedding obsession, but I totally get that it’s not your cup of Earl Grey. For me it’s just a fun excuse for a theme party. For the first time since 2006 I’m nobody’s bridesmaid, not hosting a shower for anyone etc – I need to work my hostess gene somehow.
Oh, I DO wish I had her hair.
I hear ya. I generally do enjoy checking in now and again with the various royals and their updates, although I particularly enjoy following the Danish Royal Family and their events (super photogenic and chic group IMO). I just can’t get into the wedding excitement this time around. Fortunately, I don’t have a T.V. so I’ve heard hardly any hysteria. I actually have to go searching for it online if I want to read dress speculations and other hype. I will probably watch highlights of the ceremony on YouTube.
Wellllllllll I admit I am one of the crazy fanatics about this ordeal. HOWEVER, I get really tired of shows like the Today Show and GMA saying the exact same thing over and over again.
I think the Royal Wedding hype is a bit crazy too-but I’m from Canada, so at least it’s hype for our Royals! Although besides your normal gossip magazine reporting on them, and a few minutes here and there on the morning shows-no one seems to be going to crazy other the wedding. I actually think it’s a little crazy how big it is in the States-considering there isn’t really any attachment. But either way, I’ll be watching the wedding-but that’s probably it.
I love it! This is an historic event and I think it is just beautiful, I wish Princess Diana was here to see her oldest son so in love! Your opinion totally surprises me since you had an “OSCAR” party.. but to each his own huh?
I get not caring too much about the wedding itself. But, I think the impact the wedding will have on the industry as a whole deserves a bunch of attention.
And, I have to admit. I cannot wait to see what Kate looks like on the big day!
My cousin lives 45 minutes outside of London and I image you 2 would have a wonderful conversation! She feels the same way as you do! The only thing she’s pumped about “that day” is she gets the day off bc England’s declared it a bank holiday!
I just like how the Today show switches from world violence to the royal wedding in all of 2 seconds…seriously?
I completely agree. It would have been fine to do a countdown the final week, maybe even the final two weeks, but 90 days is ridiculous! What’s worse is I graduate college the day of the wedding so it has been a CONSTANT reminder that I have to grow up in X amount of days.. 11 days to go, ha!
