a Tuesday brain dump

What’s going on in my head this week? Oh, kind of a lot. Some important and some not-so-important stuff.

1. I made one last to-do list to use to get everything done before Hayes’s arrival. Nothing is a major news, but I did realize I couldn’t find all of my nursing bras and I would probably need more lounge clothes this time than last time. I need to go ahead and start addressing birth announcements and Hudson’s birthday party invitations. And of course, I made a list of all of the movies I want to see with TC before Hayes arrives.

2. Is it just me or is nothing in TV these days? We ended up deciding to watch American Idol this season and then after last week, I’m just so sick about the results I don’t know that I’ll continue to watch. Pia was my hands-down favorite. I kind of like Lauren Alaina and I like Casey, so maybe I’ll cheer for them. But if they go home I’m going to be really sad.

3. Also? The Real Housewives of Orange County? You know it’s a bad season when Alexis is your favorite housewife. These women have all gone off the deep end.

4. I have exactly 8 weeks after Hayes is born before I am in my best friend’s wedding. I took a wild guess on my dress size and will just have it sized down if it needs it. I hope it needs it. But I am also trying to find dresses to wear to her wedding events. I’m not buying anything until after Hayes gets here and I can actually try some stuff on.

5. Going with #4, I am making plans (and dragging TC along with me) for how to lose the bulk of the baby weight. No time to dilly dally this time. I packed those pounds on this time and they can’t stay with me forever! (I guess they can if I let them, but don’t let me let them!)

6. Have y’all seen the April issue of Southern Living? My dream kitchen is in there. I’m not even kidding. The curtains, the cabinet color, the backsplash, the fabric on the chairs, the room arrangement. Can I just move in?

7. Southern Living’s website also has the Southern Girl’s Guide to Pearls. Love it!

8. I miss my parents terribly. I get to spend a lot of time with my mom when Hayes arrives because she’ll be coming to stay with us for a while. But I really missed them this weekend when I wasn’t feeling well and I wanted some company and wanted someone to come play with Hudson and the dogs for me. I just can’t wait for them to get here!

9. It’s nap time and I should be napping. So I’m going!

I am in love with that teal polka dot fabric. I have it dogeared in my issue. I finished Water for Elephants a few weeks ago and can’t wait for the movie! It looks so magical.

When my daughter was born last summer, I lived in nursing tanks from Target. They are super comfortable and reasonably priced, if you are looking for something. And it was so stinkin hot, it was nice just to wear those and not have to put on an additional top. Oh, and Undercover Mamas are nice, too. I am getting excited to meet Hayes!

At almost 12 weeks, I’m already freaking out over how to lose the weight. Bad news: I still have “baby weight” from my 5-year-old. Good news: this is the last baby, so I can take it off PERMANENTLY!

I was in my best friends’ wedding 4 months after my daughter was born and I was so stressed out. I can only imagine how you are feeling…you will look gorgeous, so try to enjoy the time and don’t stress too much. Easy for me to say since that was SIXTEEN freaking years ago. WOW! But trust me, it really does feel like yesterday.

I got married last June, just 2.5 months after my best friend had her first baby. Her dress fit perfectly and absolutely NO ONE believed that she had just had a baby. Fortunately, her husband and baby were at the reception and her husband kept telling people, “Really. This is our baby. She was pregnant and gave birth. For real, y’all.” Have faith!

Love that kictchen as well! The decorator is Tobi Fairley – she is AMAZING! She is from my home town. You can go to her website and click on Inbox Interiors and she sends you plans and tells you exactly how to achieve a look for a room or rooms in your home! 🙂

SOOOO nothing on TV! Although do you watch “Bethenny Ever After?” Highly recommend it. It’s hilarious and its just a good show. She’s crazy skinny though so I hate her for that. Ha!

I watch RHOC too…Went to high school with Gretchen actually. But yea, they are all kinda crazy!

I love how you have movies on your to-do list… that’s so something I would do! Too bad mine would also include clear out DVR, and schedule recordings for all possible shows I would miss while in the hospital. : )

Love that polka dot fabric on those chairs in the kitchen, it’s perfect!

Love, love, love that kitchen! I love Southern Living mag in general!
You’ll get everything done – the first step is making the list! Writing it out is half the battle!

I was JUST sitting here browsing blogs thinking the same thing about TV. I am a nighttime TV lover…and there is NOTHING on. I love all the RHW series, but I agree with you…OC is yawwnnn. RHONYC looks a little more juicy at least. And yes, I am so sad about Pia too. It’s pretty bad though when I have to resort to watching Teen Mom2 Unseen Clips…
I love your handwriting by the way–I should have hired you to address my save the dates! So excited that you are getting close to the arrival of Hayes! What a new adventure that will be… 🙂

I was in a wedding 6 weeks post partum. I remember thinking I would definitely be back to a more normal weight, but I gained a whopping 48 pounds with my daughter, and clearly was no where near my pre-preg size for the wedding. All I can say is SPANKS. A godsend. Nordstrom was a lifesaver, I was able to find a few dresses for the events that didn’t break the bank, and ended up wearing them multiple times to other events. You will look stunning no matter what!

Sorry for the word vomit–I think I just blogged a whole post for you haha.

I could not agree more on RHOC. The fact that I’m about to iron right now instead of catch up on the DVR speaks volumes.

Wait, you’re addressing the baby announcements before Hayes is here? This is a level of organization I’ve never personally experienced. Consider my inner Type A thoroughly impressed! 😉

And I’m with you on “RHOC” this season; they used to remind me of home, for better or worse, and now are such awful caricatures. Bo-ring.

I can’t even watch the Housewives anymore – the bathtub scene pretty much did it for me. I will say I still loved the Beverly Hills season! Good luck with getting all your baby stuff finished – I have a feeling you will! xx.

Have you thought about Rent the Runway for your other events’ dresses? I haven’t ever used the site, but I know that you can rent an additional size up or size down for free. Seems like it would be a good way to account for size differences AND not break the bank.
