1. I thought I’d do an update on my reading goals for 2011. Rachel and I are still hosting the book club at Book Beginnings and Bookends and we have completed two books with our fun club.
The list I posted back in January for my reading goals is just my personal list. I have all of these books at my house and I want to complete them all before the end of 2011. I would also like to try to avoid buying any new books before I finish these. But that’s just hard! I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and saw so many books I wanted to pick up and read right then!
So far in 2011, I have read:
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
Ape House by Sara Gruen (with Book Beginnings and Bookends)
Crazy Love by Francis Chan (with my girls Bible study through church)
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels (with Book Beginnings and Bookends– I finished last night!)
Currently reading: Radical by David Platt (with my girls Bible study through church)
I deviated from my “schedule” that I posted on my goals list back in January, but I am still working to get all of those books read. I have also reread Baby Wise about five times in the last three months.
If you are my friend on Goodreads, you can see the ratings I gave each of these books. I love Goodreads so much!
2. My good friend had her baby on Friday afternoon and we went over to visit them and bring some food yesterday. I was instantly smitten and I am just so thrilled for our sweet friends. And it makes me so excited to hold our sweet baby very very soon.
3. Speaking of very very soon, we have scheduled a birthday! Now, just pray with me that I can stay off my feet enough and really start taking it easy. I need him to stay put for at least 5 more weeks.
4. My dear friend, Lyndsey and her cutie pie ALM are coming to visit today and I could not be more excited. The last time she was here, this is what our babies looked like! I’m pretty sure things will be a little more wild this time.
5. I accompanied TC to Greenville on Friday. He had a meeting that was going to last most of the afternoon and Hudson and I decided to ride up there with him. We love Greenville and I really wanted to see Megan, Anne, and their kiddos. We had a great time hanging out at the park and playing with our kids. It was really such a great day! I love both of these girls and they both have the sweetest kids. Thankfully, Greenville is not far away and is also a great place to visit– for lots of reasons!
Did you have a good weekend? Do anything fun?

Love the way Hudson has his little legs crossed.
And Greenville is on our short list of places to relocate. It looks like such a great place.
What a fun day in Greenville! Love the pictures! Can’t wait to see pictures of ALM & Hudson together. Have fun this week! xoxo
What a fun weekend! All I did was install baby-proofing measures. Now I live in a gated community 😉 I will have to check out your book recommendations – I always looking for a good read.
I need to do the same thing Erin, read the books I have before I buy anymore, ha!! Have 3 books to read right now but have a major book fetish, ha!!! So fun you got to visit with the girls and their kiddos. Sweet pictures!! 🙂
We went to a wedding in Greenville Saturday in the West End the venue was ZEN. I don’t know if you have been there before for an event, but it’s amazing! Hudson looks like he still enjoys the BOB stroller, thats what we have too! I hope T will still like it when he is Hudson’s age
Look at that beautiful weather and daffodils that you are enjoying!! What a great day for you!
Snow here!! UGH!
Sometimes, I get free books from publishers and authors to review on my blog. I make myself go through my books every 3 months. I donate the ones I have already reviewed to my local library. I could spend a fortune on books every month, even though I get loads for free. I give myself a book budget and I’m not allowed to go over that. Loving your book choices for the yr!
I was sick all weekend. Blah. But I did get a walk in with my 7 wk old! He loves to take walks!
It looks like you guys had so much fun in Greenville! I loved seeing the pictures of all of your little ones together. I hope you have a great week!
Girl, I am impressed with your reading!! When/how do you find time???
I spend all of my free time reading blogs, which is my guilty pleasure/alone time 🙂
Wow, you are way ahead of me for books for 2011! I tried to make it my goal to read one a month….but so far I have not been doing great. I also read Crazy Love this year–sometimes I pick it up and re-read a chapter to keep my mind towards what is important! I have read Glass Castle too, loveee that one. What an amazing story.
I just signed up for Goodreads, my name is GrettaK, will you friend me so I can read your reviews?
What a great book list! I am currently reading Decision Points. It’s very good. My only problem is that when I read (after my 2 boys go to sleep) I can hardly stay awake! Having a 3 year old and a 3 month old is amazing, but I am so exhausted by the end of the day. I really want to read Pioneer Woman…if I can get thru this first book! Ha ha!
…and I hadn’t heard of Mini Social so I signed up under you! I swear I buy from Zulily every week so hopefully I’ll find some great deals on Mini Social! Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
How am I just now hearing about Goodreads? I love it. My BFF from home and I were sharing our book finds via a Facebook app, but this will work even better. Another bonus – I can hook up with blog friends, too!
How fun-look at all those cute kids!
Aaaww! I love you girls!!
Hope you and Lyndsey have a great visit with the kiddos. Can’t wait to see y’all again 🙂
And you’re blowing me out of the water on the reading list. I was doing so well and then… nada. Oh well. Maybe I’ll pick it back up again after all this birthday madness.
Glad you were able to have a fun, non rainy weekend! My weekend was filled with inside chores and Redbox movies! Let me know what you think of Garth Stein’s book. My husband owns it due to his love of racing. I am afraid to start it due to my fear of crying through it!
You are soooo lucky to have a scheduled birthday for your sweet boy #2!! I hate the “waiting” game. I hope at my 38 weeks appointment on Wednesday the doctor will go ahead and induce or schedule an induction. I am soooo ready!
Hudson is precious…I think he looks just like you!!
I can’t wait until summer break so I can start my reading list. I just don’t have much time to read my choice of books between teaching, grad school reading, and reading chapter books so my kids can read them in class!! 48 days, not that I’m counting!!
Also, what do you know about Greenwood, SC? One of my best friends is moving there in June while her husband is doing her residency. She is just so excited and I’m super excited to visit her!! Thanks!
I have a huge stack of books on my end table and nightstand to read, and I just downloaded two new ones on my Nook. I’m always afraid I’ll forget that I want to read a certain book if I don’t go ahead and buy it. {You would think a list would be handy for this very reason, but nope…}
We finally painted the family room and hallway in our house – a much lighter cream color that Jim hates but is growing on me. It’s so much brighter and seems larger, which is a huge plus in a tiny house. 🙂
Look at those cute kiddos!! Makes me want to move to SC…or at least nearby 🙂
Hope you had fun with Lyndsay and ALM today!!
Reading “Crazy Love” right now. So good!
So MUCH fun!! I love that you girls got to get together! I am jealous of all your met ups! I so hope we can meet up this year!! Love the pictures! Yay for a birthdate!! So FUN!! I cant wait to hear about it! I hope you take it easy! I know it is super hard to take it easy with an almost two year old!! You girls all look amazing! love you guys!
So funny y’all were in Greenville on Friday! We were there for my sister-in-law’s wedding at the same time, at guess where? Furman’s Daniel Chapel! And we all stayed at the Hampton Inn right in front of where y’all are standing in that picture. Small, small world!
love updates, and I love goodreads too…Its a great way to get and give book recommendations to far-flung friends — and also to know who read the same book you are reading. I was recently reading a huge book and through goodreads and goodreads updating to facebook I found out several of my friends had read it…
