31 weeks!

I haven’t been great at all about doing pregnancy updates. I’m not big on taking bump photos and I usually don’t have anything different to say about each week. But I was reading some of my old posts from when I was pregnant with Hudson and noticed that I did a 31 week update during that pregnancy. The picture was taken by Mojito Maven in Charleston and the whole thing makes me smile. It was a great weekend with Mojito Maven and Grits in a great city with great weather.

31 weeks with Hudson- 2009

We walked a lot that weekend and I know that if I had to do that during this pregnancy, I wouldn’t make it. I am a wimp. Big fat pregnant wimp.

I can waddle and I definitely can’t run. I’m a bottomless pit and then when I finish eating, I feel like I might suffocate from all the food I just ate. When I walk (or waddle) I feel like my pelvic bone may just break. Things are not so comfortable these days.

The big different between last time and this time (not that I loved any of it last time either) is that I’m carrying 32 pounds of toddler around with me all the time. Hudson is a load and a half. Not to mention the 30 pounds I’ve gained already during this pregnancy.

Fortunately, the only swelling I’m experiencing is in my fingers. I am wearing an old silver monogram ring from college just so I don’t get crazy stares in the grocery store for not wearing a ring. I do live in the South, you know?

I had a few strong cravings this week. Pink lemonade was the major one. I wanted some Country Time Pink Lemonade and I wanted to drink it from a Ball jar. What is that about? I must have seen it on a commercial or something because I couldn’t get it out of my head. TC brought some Country Time powder home from work and I mixed that stuff up as fast as I could. And this is what I’ve been sipping on ever since. Delicious!

Then I wanted some cupcakes and Hudson kept asking for a cupcake, so I decided to go look for some St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes at Publix. But instead I found the yummy little Two-Bite Cupcakes at Publix. I made it all the way home before eating one and before I knew it, only 10 minutes had gone by, Hudson had eaten one and I had eaten 5. How would I explain this brand new, half empty box to TC?

He doesn’t like cupcakes anyway, but the shame! I know we’ve been married a while and almost have two kids together, but I need to be trying to impress him and not devouring packages of tiny little cupcakes and letting him see how big of a piggy I can be!

And then last night. I made chocolate chip cookies. (Yes, I have been eating a lot of sweets.) I love to drink milk. TC will not drink milk. He will pour it all over his cereal, drain it off the spoon, and eat the cereal. Then he dumps all the milk down the drain. But I love to drink milk with my cookies. And TC likes to pour a glass of milk, drop his cookie in his milk, retrieve the cookie with a spoon and eat the cookie off a spoon.

We were running low on milk last night and I made myself a big glass to drink with my cookies. TC fixed himself a tiny glass to enjoy and then throw away. (Ha!) I finished my glass in record time and he was done with his milk, but I wanted more. Only there wasn’t any left. Except for what was left in TC’s little glass that he refuses to drink because it makes him sick and he thinks milk is gross even though he’s willing to put it on his cereal and dunk his cookies in it.

I kept saying how I wanted more milk and he kept offering what was left in his glass. With cookie snacks in it! I went to bed wanting more milk and got up this morning and got 2 gallons at the grocery store.

I’m looking forward to getting an official birthday scheduled for baby boy. I go back to the doctor next week and I am so encouraged that this birth will be drastically different from Hudson’s. I can’t wait to hold him and see his sweet face and bring him home to see his room and meet his puppies.

You are such a cute pregnant lady! Something must be in the air with all the sweets…I’m 34 weeks pregnant, and this week I’ve gone crazy eating sweets, too!

I have a weird question for you. In that last picture, you have a video monitor. It looks like a Summer’s Infant. Do you know which model you have, and do you recommend it? I’ve been trying to find a video monitor for my little lady (who is due April 29). I think I’ve decided on the Summer’s Infant Best View model, but I would be interested to know your opinion on your monitor.

I am exactly the same way as your hubby! I hate milk and will put it in my cereal to make it wet, only to drain it off with the spoon. Too weird!

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with wearing a ring in the South… and I’m not even a mom, nor have I ever been pregnant. People judge big time! You look super cute and if it makes you feel any better I would probably eat 5 of those mini cupcakes on my own on a regular, non pregnant day. Ha!

Don’t feel bad about the cupcakes! I may have finished off a pan of brownies the other week while my husband was away on a business trip. And now this week I can’t keep my hands out of the Thin Mints box. Sweets have always been my weakness, but it’s exponentially greater now that I’m pregnant. You look great! And your pink lemonade looks so refreshing.

I had such a HUGE craving for sweets when I was pregnant with Logan. OMG!! I gained a total of 50 pounds–yikes!! But it was all gone by 5 months PP…anyway I am all about indulging! I would do it again. 🙂

I do very similar stuff with my milk – I really hate the stuff and was worried about breastfeeding for that reason but I manage! It doesn’t appeal to me at all but I do it for my sweet baby boy.

You look great, by the way.

This is so sweet! I think you’ll love looking back and remembering how you felt 31 weeks into this little guy! (Also, I do the EXACT same things with my milk as TC and it drives my husband up the wall. But it makes the house have an even Milk balance.)

Don’t feel bad about the 5 cupcakes! I’m sure that Baby Boy wanted all 5 of them 🙂 I made chocolate-covered pretzels the other day, and I ate too many of them to keep count. And I’m not pregnant!

When my fingers got so swollen that I couldn’t wear my wedding rings any more (around 31 weeks for both of my pregnancies), I started wearing a silver ring too. My husband and I work in the same place, and everyone knows we’re married, but I just HAD to wear that ring! You are completely right about people in the south being judgy!

Erin, I just want to say that reading your posts is becoming a comfort ritual. Ha! Bet you never thought of your writing in that way! But it’s true. Reading about your pregnancies helps me re-live mine and remember all the crazy stuff I used to do. I had very shameful cravings for Spaghettio’s. Come on now, that’s *totally* worse than Country Time lemonade (though I did laugh at that one!). Anyhoo, love this post and wishing you lots of peace and R&R as you round the last bend in this trimester and get your delivery date scheduled. You’re almost there!

I think you look fabulous. Seriously. If you weren’t so sweet – I’d have to hate you for looking so cute while growing another human being.

I always have pink lemonade on hand…Country Time is the best! I love to hear what you pregnant girls are craving…so funny. 🙂

Have a great weekend with your boys!

I ate 6 of those little mini chocolate donuts at a red light when I was pregnant.. And I’m not a big sweet eater!

I hope all is well, would love to see you both before the baby is born. I am having surgery next week, but if baby is not here after that I would love to get together!

I ate an entire 9×13 pyrex of Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Gooey Bars by myself after I had my first child… they were delicious!! A dear friend brought them with a meal and my husband wasn’t a fan… so I just ate them myself!! I may make a batch right now… yum!

I remember craving mostly healthy foods during my pregnancy until about week 30…and then I wanted SWEET food. I went through so many pitchers of lemonade, Arnold Palmers, any type of fruit juice, green tea with some fruit mixed in. I constantly had something sweet/fruity beside me. It was ridiculous. Right before I delivered I drank the majority of a gallon of lemonade all by myself, when we came home I went to get a glass of it and thought, “Oh my gosh, this stuff is DISGUSTING!!! How did I ever drink it??” I guess I just needed a break from it after consuming so much for 2 months!

Love your blog, can’t wait to hear how juggling two goes! Our first is about to be one in a month, and contemplating the next one in a few more months… Just wanted to say that, my first was a scheduled c-section, and it was so fabulous! I know you will have a great birth experience with new baby boy and the scheduled c is the way to go! I’m excited for you!

I don’t like milk either – I do the same spoon-draining that TC does. My husband drinks the milk that’s left over from his cereal and it makes me sick to watch.

Uh…you make me sick…you have got to be the prettiest pregnant lady I have ever seen! and I LOVE your new hair…gorgeous!

p.s. I have had commented several times on your blog, but here recently I have had to change all of my contact info (including my blog address) because I was hacked a few months ago 🙁

Ahh…the great milk debate! I wrote about our milk debate in my blog! I’m a “dunker and dropper” and my hubby could slurp up his whole glass and get seconds! Too funny!

Are you wearing Tory Burch flats in your first picture?? It’s so random that I noticed that!!! Love the outfit too!!

You look fabulous girl! I totally feel ya with the ring situation. At 16 weeks I got a cyst on my ring finger (that is HUGE) and I haven’t been able to wear my wedding ring since. Talk about looking single and pregnant…the stares are not funny! I can’t even wear anything on my finger or it will irritate it! UGH!

When my cousin was pregnant and her fingers swelled up so she couldn’t wear her ring she put it on a chain around her neck.

You are a super cute pregnant gal! And, I don’t drink milk either…but, I do eat it with my cereal and drink the leftover from the bowl. Weird, I know.

  24. Carrie says

Erin, you’re so funny . . . and cute! You and your gotta-have-milk cravings! I was laughing as I read your post. I’m glad to hear you got two gallons, so now you’re stocked up. Bring on more cupcakes and cookies!

    Love this post :o)

And can I just say that you have EXCELLENT decorating taste. I definitely get inspiration from you. Hopefully we will own a place of our own later this year (such is the plan) and I can start trying my hand at decorating my first “real” home.
