I didn’t take a single picture this weekend, but it was a great weekend and I’ll have to help you use your imagination.
1. I’m almost ย finished with The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. I’m a huge dog lover and this book has made me laugh and cry already. I have deviated from my reading schedule, but I’m sticking to the list, so that’s an accomplishment. I finished The Glass Castle last week and loved it.
2. TC and I got Winter’s Bone on Netflix and enjoyed watching it on Friday night. Then on Saturday night, we met a few friends to eat at Moe’s and see The King’s Speech. It was such a great movie. Our group was definitely the youngest in the theater– by far.
3. Sunday was gorgeous here in Columbia! Absolutely gorgeous. We got to play outside on Hudson’s swing set then we loaded him up in his wagon and walked down to the park with Boudreaux. It was a nice little teaser for spring, but it’s cold and wet again today.
4. We test-drove strollers this weekend and I’m so glad we did! I am going with my first choice after seeing all of your recommendations in person and getting to push them (with Hudson in them) around Buy Buy Baby. We’re going to get the Baby Jogger City Select! It was such a smooth stroll and I love that Hudson can sit and face out and see what’s going on.
We also will have to pick up a second video monitor since Hudson will need one now more than ever when he moves to his big bed and we’ll definitely continue to use one in the nursery.
5. My sweet little boy is getting so big! His 2T longalls are barely snapping and today one of the shoulder buttons popped off. I hate to go ahead and buy more winter clothes to fit when Spring is just around the corner. But I also hate to preorder Spring clothes because I really have no idea what size he’ll need. How do you anticipate what size you’ll need for the next season?
6. Even though it’s only (almost) the beginning of February, I’m starting to think of Hudson’s birthday party. He’ll turn 2 about 3 weeks after the baby is born and I’d like to have everything taken care of before the baby is born, so we just have to show up to Hudson’s party. Right after his first birthday, I knew we wanted to do his second birthday at The Little Gym. We love The Little Gym and their staff– and it’s very toddler friendly. I’ll do my best to put fun details into the party, but I’m going for fun and simple. And I want Hudson to be surrounded by his friends and family.
How was your weekend?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the baby jogger! You made a fabulous decision. Bean is very comfortable in it and has taken some LONG naps in it as well.
I am dying to read that book! My sister {http://lovealwaysalaka.blogspot.com/} just finished it and mentioned it on her blog last week…she’s pretty much been obsessed with it ever since she read it. She is a major dog lover and I am too.
We were supposed to see King’s Speech Friday night but ended up just going out to dinner instead. We both really want to see it and I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things.
Don’t stress over Hudson’s Birthday party. I know how great you are with parties and I’m sure it will be perfect and just what Hudson wants…with the new babe on the wall I’m sure having it Little Gym will be very helpful.
Winter’s Bone was filmed in my town, St. Louis! Although I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, I’m looking forward to trying to catch familiar sights as the movie plays. I was really surprised to read that you hadn’t mentioned anything about the SAG Awards & the lovely dresses! Glad you enjoyed your weekend ๐
I am dying to see The King’s Speech..but my best friend saw it Saturday and said it was boring and she fell asleep! I’m going to see it anyways, I have heard from so many other people how fabulous it is and I am trying to see all of the movies nominated before the Oscars. (we don’t get date night that often but my fiance knows how to get them “for free” online). Have you seen Black Swan–amazing! Glad you had a great weekend, although I am totally jealous of your warm weather.. ๐
I’ve already started thinking of birthday party ideas for my son’s second at the end of May, and I don’t even have a baby on the way! Lol. My son is also outgrowing all of his winter clothes, and it’s a long time until spring… I’ve bought a few more things for him, but he just may have a small wardrobe for a while.
I’m excited about Winter’s Bone. Just texted my husband that we need to watch it on Netflix soon. Thanks for the tip!
We liked the King’s Speech but not nearly as much as our parents all did–I think it’s a generational thing!
It sounded like a wonderful weekend! Ahh, now you got me thinking that I have to start thinking of planning for the boys’ birthdays too! ๐ I hope and the boys are doing great!! Xoxo
Loved The King’s Speech! When we saw it we were the youngest in the theatre too. Colin Firth was just amazing in it. I mean, in my book he can do no wrong, but, still!
I want to see Winter’s Bone. Did you like it?
The size thing is hard to figure out! C is pretty “in line” with his age/clothe sizes so I usually bought a size-up . . . like right now, I’m buying size 6 for the fall. It’s hard though because every kid is different!
I love that you share baby item recommendations…helps the rest of us Mommys. ๐
I have stopped buying Amelia too many clothes for upcoming seasons because the girl has grown like a weed and is always bigger than what I think she’ll be. When do they stop growing so fast and stay in one size for any length of time?
I think now that Amelia is older, we’re going to have to check out our local Little Gym. So many of my blog friends take their kiddos there. You’re smart to think this far ahead about his party!
I’m having the exact same problem with my Hudson’s clothes & sizing for the spring & summer! Doesn’t surprise me that we’re both having issues since they always seem to be almost identical height/weight at any given time!
I’ve already ordered from Orient Expressed & Just Ducky & I’m buying 3T in any shortalls/jon jon’s bc of the length. But in shorts/t-shirt sets I think we’ll be okay with 2T. Maybe 3T shirt but definitely 2T shorts after trying on some friends. I’m planning to take full advantage of this being our last summer in jon jon’s! Makes me a little sad!!! So not ready for him to be wearing khaki shorts & polos everyday for the rest of his life! ๐
The Kings Speech was great – sometimes a little painful to watch – Colin Firth should get an academy award for this performance!
I want to see The Kings Speech but here in Spain is not in theaters yet! canยดt wait!!!
I have the Baby Jogger Summit 360 and I LOVE it. It’s comparable to the Bob. I think that the fold of all of the Baby Joggers is hard to beat. The highlight of my weekend was definitely walking with Clara and my husband both beautiful days. It was amazing in Raleigh, too!
So sorry about Hudson’s clothes. All of my girlfriends have said there’s a huge growth spurt at 18 months. They are practically giving away clothes at the mall, maybe you could get by with Carter’s for another couple of months and an outfit or two for church? Or maybe just get some 4T shortalls, roll them up, and then next year, if they’re still too big, you could get them taken up.
Oh, The Art of Racing in the Rain is such a good book! I want to see The King’s Speech; we saw Black Swan. We’re also having the same problem with clothes. Molly’s torso and legs are SO long that all her pants look like capris and one piece outfits (like overalls?) are a joke!
I think you will LOVE that stroller. I don’t have it, but I’ve seen it. It looks so nice. I just ordered my BOB Revolution double stroller yesterday. Can’t WAIT to pick it up on Friday. WOOOOHOOOO!!!
Erin- Just discovered your blog! We were on tickets committee for HM last year. Hope you are doing well! Love your site! Congratulations on your pregnancy too! Very exciting! Hope you are doing well! I’ll keep reading!
PS. Get a 3T in everything except maybe pants. You can move buttons!!
you are a mess… already planning his b-day!!! did you not LOVE BUY BUY BABY… LOVE THAT STORE!!…. hope all is well…
EB went to LG today…. I have an appt. on Thursday… maybe we will see you 3 one day ๐
Take Care
I loved The King’s Speech. Such a simple premise for a movie, but so well told. I’m excited to see Winter’s Bone. I added it to my Netflix Queue last week.
So glad you’ve enjoyed The Art of Racing in the Rain. I tear up thinking about. Let me know when you’re done. I want to hear your thoughts on the the ending!
So excited you liked the Baby Jogger City Select! I have it and love it! I went ahead and got it with my first in anticipation of a 2nd child and we have used it TONS. It was really nice when we traveled recently and used it in the hotel room like a chair, high chair etc. Also the basket underneath was big enough to hold his car seat base etc in the airport so we had stroller, car seat and base all checked at the gate.
I hope you share what clothes you buy for Hudson! My song is now wearing 12-18 mos sizes and I have NOTHING for him right now because I too, hate to buy winter clothes when Spring is right around the corner!
also I think you can use a 20% off of Bed bath & Beyond coupon on the Baby Jogger stroller if you purchase it at Buy Buy Baby!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying The Art of Racing in the Rain, I think it’s one of my all-time favorites! I’m dying to see The King’s Speech, do you think it’s a guarentee for best picture like everyone’s saying?
I just got notice Winter’s Bone was just shipped from my Netflix! Sounds like your weekend will be my next weekend.
I just recently finished The Art of Racing in the Rain and loved it! It’s a wonderful book and I have been recommending it to all my friends. I haven’t gotten around to see The King’s Speech yet but I’m dying to see it! Hopefully soon it will fit into my busy schedule.
I am so with you on the whole clothing size conundrum. I have no clue what to get GG, because I want things to fit and be comfy come Spring and Summer. I’m dying since Ragsland and Kelly’s Kids have such adorable outfits now!
Ohhhh, the Little Gym! GG loves it too! I was thinking about a birthday for us there sometime in the future. No matter what y’all do it will be perfect, you just have a knack for those things!
So glad you liked Glass Castle and that you’re enjoying Art of Racing in the Rain. Definitely two of my favorites that I read last summer!!
