honestly…

1. I currently weigh 8 pounds less than I did the day I delivered Hudson. And you know I’ll be gaining more in the next 16 weeks before this baby is born. But I’m not yet ready to accept wagers on how high that number could be! Thankfully, my doctors haven’t said a thing about it, so I’m not worried. I love those women!

2. Hudson is doing much better, thank goodness, but my sinuses have been invaded! Our bedroom can get really stuffy so I’ve been sleeping in the guest bed to prevent TC from having to hear my snores that sound like a freight train coming through the room. And because the guest bedroom gets better circulation. I miss my bed– and my husband!

3. I know I shouldn’t have, but I made a huge cake last night and ate a piece. And I knew I had my glucose test this morning. Probably not the smartest idea. Hopefully the test isn’t positive– false positive or actually positive!

4. I love me some Chick-fil-A half lemonade and half sweet tea. I know many of you do, too. Chick-fil-A has some lingo for this drink- anyone know what it is? (Many thanks to Jennifer who commented! The girl at Chick-fil-A yesterday called it a “split.” I usually say Arnold Palmer, but that’s not what CFA calls it.)

5. I drink caffeine when I’m pregnant.

6. I also drink Diet Coke when I’m pregnant.

7. Please, no lectures for #5 and #6. (I do it in moderation.)

8. This little boy is hanging out right on my bladder. Sneezing is a doozy.

9. Even though I was born a blonde, God obviously wanted my hair to be dark by the time I turned 25. I’m going today to make it blonder. I’m blonde at heart.

10. I unjoined my gym for 2011. Smart financially, but not sure yet if it was the best decision. I’ll figure it out when I’m ready to start exercising again.

11. I cannot sit in a movie theater or a Mexican restaurant without having a Diet Coke.

12. I don’t like praying out loud. I get nervous and feel like my prayer is being critiqued. I prefer to pray silently.

13. I received a pamphlet at the doctor’s office today for a special new service where the mom and baby get their own private nurse and share a nurse for their stay in the hospital. This also means the baby stays with you the whole time in the hospital. It sounds dreamy, but honestly? I want my sleep and plan to do what I did with Hudson. They’ll bring me my baby every 3 hours during the night and I’ll have him all during the day. But those last couple of nights of sleep are kind of important to me. Okay, they’re really important to me.

14. I buy too many books. I am supposed to finish all of the unread books in my house before buying a new book! But I bought two new books this weekend and I immediately started one of them. There are lots of sad, unloved books in this house.

15. After I watched Toy Story 3, I went to my closet to find Le Mutt, my oldest stuffed animal. Le Mutt is a ratty old dog. But I just hugged him because I felt so sorry for him. I’m pretty sure that makes me crazy.

Any confessions you care to make today?

I know a half tea/ half lemonade is an Arnold Palmer, but am not sure if that’s what CFA calls it.
Also, I still sleep with my Snoopy so you are not crazy.

  2. says

Tom Arnold?… on the 1/2 and 1/2 drink. I drank some caffeine when pregnant too… I truly believe all things in moderation! Glad H is feeling better. Get you a double jogger and then you can go walk with both boys…. there’s your exercise!

  3. says

I’m 39 weeks pregnant and I have also drank caffeine occasionally during my pregnancy. I did with my first too, and he was the world’s easiest baby. Life’s too short to pass up a good fountain coke-ESPECIALLY with mexican!

  4. Alison says

Erin you look great!! Out here in Pittsburgh the 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade is called an Arnold Palmer. Don’t worry about the gym – I’m sure chasing two boys around will work great!

  5. lizziefitz says

I LOVE the new show An Idiot Abroad. I mean I am obsessed about watching it and rewinding all the parts again because I laughed so hard I can’t breathe. And don’t even get me started on sneezing and laughing (Above Laughing Especially) issues I have after giving birth MANY times! HA!

  6. says

I like to take my sweet tea and lemonade a step farther and make it a Jon Daly= sweet tea vodka (Firefly!) and lemonade.

I loved Toy Story 3 but I immediately thought of all the poors moms (and dads!) that will have to battle their kids when it comes time to clean out the toy box now. And yet I would totally have been running for my old toys just like you did if they were accessible to me.

  7. Serah Roy says

I drank caffeine with #1 and with #2 (I’m currently 32 weeks along). Brady was a dream baby, so I’m hoping that was related to the caffeine and it continues with this little boy! 🙂

I’m gaining more this time around, too, but I don’t know the exact amount. I figure if I’m really off the charts, my doctor will say something and so far, she hasn’t!

My confession is that I’ve been watching Hoarders! I seriously am afraid it will give me nightmares sometimes, but I keep watching.

  8. MrsD says

I am the mother to a healthy 5 yr old & I too drank diet coke & Starbucks while pregnant. My son was born w/ 10 fingers & 10 toes ! At my local hospital, I opted to have my son sleep in the nursery each night. The nurses did put a guilt-trip on me but I didn’t let that persuade me. I also had a c-section. I knew that I needed to rest & heal. I had my husband w/ me 24/7 for the week & then my mother for the next 2 weeks, then I was solo. My husband had to travel to the West Coast for business when my son was 5 weeks old and I had no one to help me. Looking back, not sure how I survived, but I did !!! Don’t feel guilty for choices you make. I strongly believe in the theory “Happy Mommy, Happy Baby !” Enjoy this special time !!!

  9. says

This embarrasses me to no end, but I have had to resort to sending a photo of the distance/time clocked on the treadmill to my mom every morning in order to force myself to workout. The idea of getting an earful from my mom seems to beat out that extra hour of precious sleep. And I want to delete this right now, but since you’ve been so honest…

  10. says

Even though I’m not preggo, I get serious Diet Coke guilt. Really, I get caffeine guilt in general. But a mid-afternoon can of Cherry Coke Zero brightens a day like no other. And don’t even get me started on CFA sweet tea!

  11. LyndsAU says

Honestly…I love you! And honestly…I drank Dr Pepper everyday during my pregnancy. And honestly I’m a silent pray-er too! And honestly I want some of that cake you made!

  12. Erin says

I love this post! And for the record I’m 27 weeks pregnant and I drink caffeine too (and it’s diet coke!), how else are we supposed to stay alert to care for toddlers?! I’m going to have to check out those Arnold Palmers – do all CFA have them?

  13. says

During my pregnancies I drank Dr. Pepper like it was going out of style. I cut back, but I couldn’t get through the day without at least one.

I’m a huge advocate of letting the newborn nurses do their thing at the hospital. Labor/delivery literally drains you, and you better rest up while you can because you know once you get home that isn’t happening! With my younger daughter, I let her spend our last night in the nursery all night. The sleep was worth it.

Love the post today. All about keepin’ it real.

  14. Heather says

LeMutt! I have a LeMutt too… he was my favorite stuffed animal of all growing up. I am pregnant with our first baby and am excited to give LeMutt a new life outside of the storage container he’s been in for the last two decades or so. I hope the little one loves him as much as I did. Maybe I’ll dig him out of the attic tonight… I don’t know why, but I always think I am the only one who ever had a LeMutt – so I about fell out of my chair when I read that you do to.

I also don’t like to pray out loud – for the same reasons that you listed.

And I love me some Chick Lemonade… it’s just the best!

  15. says

My confession: I “lost” the book I was reading for three weeks. My husband and I tore the house apart looking for it. I found it yesterday – in my gym bag. I am beyond embarrassed.

  16. says

I BAWLED at the end of Toy Story 3. What a sweet movie, but the ending was so hard for me to watch. Overly attached to my own childhood “guys” (my bear, monkey and dog)? Oh yeah. I also went upstairs to give Muffy a special hug. She knows I love her.

  17. Turner says

I drink a coke almost everyday and I’m 27 weeks pregnant. I did manage to switch from diet to regular coke, but I’m not sure if its even worth it. I hope my little girl still loves me even though she’s jacked up on caffeine. Today I actually had a coke and a Hershey bar at 8:15 in the morning during a staff meeting. First thing I said “Don’t judge me”. Another confession, I’m slightly TERRIFIED to be a first-time Mom in a few months. 🙂

  18. says

    Arnold Palmer was the keynote speaker for my college graduation. The year before us? Colin Powell. The year after? Nelson Mandela. I don’t know who in the world dropped the ball for the Class of ’05 but I’m still miffed. Direct quote from his speech: “Gentlemen, you’re about to go out into the world and start careers. Ladies, you’re about to start families.” Um, seriously? This is the Class of ’05… not 1955. Old coot. {<– How's that for some stream of consciousness that had barely anything to do with your post?!}

And I've had the Toy Guilt ever since watching The Toy's Christmas (pre-Toy Story… Toy Story is a total knockoff… TC is one of my favorite Christmas movies EVER!} when I was about 5. I still give all my favorite stuffed animals a big squeeze when I visit in Austin!

  19. m says

ahh, i love you. i’m pregnant (and have 1 baby girl) and drink caffeine (in moderation) while pregnant too. AND I still dye my hair blonde.

Another confession? From time to time, I have lunch meat.

Another confession? I do indulge in the occasional (very occasional) [small] glass of wine while pregnant.

AND- I don’t like breastfeeding. I do it, but I don’t like it. (But I LOOOOOOOOOVE my babies).

Thank God this isn’t my blog. I’m sure I’m about to get stoned!

  20. says

I’m also pregnant and drink caffeine…everything in moderation. I’m trying to watch my weight but it’s hard as it’s cold here and I have no motivation to excersie only to eat sweets. 🙂 Best of luck to you the rest of your pregnancy!

  21. says

Agreed on the praying thing! I was always soooo nervous when I was in the youth group that I would get called on to pray during church. I thankfully never did, but it was so scary for me! Obviously God knew that it was my weakness. 🙂 And, I will have to try this “split”…sounds delicious, and I don’t know why I’ve never tried it!

  22. says

I confess…I had the biggest fountain coke at the movie theatre the other day. And it was GLORIOUS!!!!!! I dreamed about that coke later that night it was so good!
My baby is currently sitting and kicking directly on my bladder so it’s not just sneezing that is causing some not so fun moments.
And one last confession…this baby kicks me all day, every day, non-stop…seriously, for hours on end! Sometimes I wish he would just take a 5 min. break so my insides don’t feel like they are going to explode at all times.

  23. says

I always drank caffeine when I was pregnant and both of my kids turned out okay. I would try to drink caffeine free sodas to trick myself, but sometimes I just had to have that caffeine. And I’m with you, you have to do it in Mexican food restaurants!

  24. Carrie says

Oh those truths were great! I LOVE the one about lil muffy!! I sometimes have those same feelings & think about my old baby dolls!! Crazy I know!!
You just make me laugh & I really enjoy your blog!!

  25. Courtney says

LOVING this post. Amen to the praying out loud. Don’t put me on the spot. Religion is a very personal thing to me, and I prefer to keep it that way… A confession: I drink a caffeine-free pepsi daily and have had my fair share with caffeine. I’m pretty sure it’s really only dangerous in the first trimester, anyway. And I read in WTE that you can have up to 200mg daily. The amount in a regular pepsi=35mg. So, I’m pretty sure you’re good to go. Oh, and another terrible confession: I also have drank about 3-4 glasses of wine total this pregnancy. Granted, they were small and it took me about 2 hours to finish each glass that were enjoyed during the months of Nov and Dec for the holidays. But, alas, I only have 5 more weeks until I get to do so without being pregnant and feeling guilty.

Thanks for this post! I get so tired of bloggers who put on a different personna for their blog–as if they’re “perfect” all the time.

  26. says

Could not go without coffee with either one of my pregnancies! That was the first thing I did each morning (even with the nausea). Both of my boys are perfectly healthy and very smart:) Woman’s Hospital (in Baton Rouge) allows the babies to stay in the rooms with you from birth through discharge. I sent both of mine (one now 9, the other almost 2) to the nursery both nights. The best sleep I had had in a while! They are BOTH very well adjusted. And I didn’t breastfeed either one, so they got their bottles throughout the night in the nursery as well! They both are very attached to me and love me very much! See….I think there are very few things you can do to screw up your kids….as long as you LOVE them FIRST and FOREMOST!!!!!

  27. says

I gained like 60 pounds when I was pregnant- I’m sure you are fine… 🙂
I totally enjoyed my last nights of sleep in the hospital…
I bawled like a baby during toy story 3- just thinking about JM going off to college… oh who am i kidding? I cried today thinking about him going to Kindergarten in the fall!

  28. says

I drank a cup of coffee everyday of my pregnancy. Oops. I don’t pray out loud, ever. If I get asked to one day, I will probably faint on the spot. Honestly? Even thinking about it kind of has me pitting out. Yea. Gross. Our hospital was HUGE on rooming in. They rarely use their nursery. They leave you and your babe together from the moment they are born til you leave. They only come in for checks. They will take the babe, but you have to request it. Guess who requested it the last night? This girl. I needed some sleep.

  29. says

My brother is graduating high school this year and I bawled both times I watched TS3.

I’ll be honest…… I thought about my favorite childhood dolls that are in storage…… and, for a second, hoped that *if* they could come to life, that they could breathe ok in the plastic storage containers.

Even though I’m trying hard to lose at least 20-25 lbs by a wedding in June, I really want a peice of cake.

  30. mollie says

I am just 11 weeks preggo and I’m having a hard time with the soft vs. hard cheese thing…of all the things! I’m trying to be good though! Love your honesty here & all your baby posts on the blog 🙂

  31. Becky says

Be careful of #13: Baby and I shared a room (which was great) and we tried to have her go to the nurse’s station for a few hours so I could sleep. Yeah, they brought her back in 45 minutes because she wouldn’t.stop.crying.

It took almost 2 days to realize that she HATES to be swaddled and any attempts to do so will result in immediate screaming that only ceases when you stop swaddling. She also didn’t sleep for, oh, six weeks. Seriously. 10-20 minute catnaps only.
Thank goodness she started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks! Or else we might have tried to return her for a different model…

  32. says

    Great post today 🙂
I can’t go anywhere without having a diet coke, its just what I do! And while I’m not pregnant yet, its good to know that enjoying some caffeine will be ok during pregnancy. I was so concerned, I know that sounds ridiculous but I was really kind of sad 🙂 Thanks for sharning!

  33. says

This is one of the best posts I’ve read all day. People would have heart failure if they saw what pregnant Europeans eat and drink while pregnant 🙂 Enjoy every drop of your diet coke and other caffeine. You deserve it.

  34. says

I don’t like praying out loud. I get nervous and feel like my prayer is being critiqued. I prefer to pray silently. <–im the same way!! and i HATE reading out loud too!

  35. says

My stuffed animal from birth “Butterball” stays in my closet (in a very visible and reachable location I must add) and makes an appearance out of the closet when I’m feeling blue!

  36. says

Seriously with you on the not praying out loud thing. I’m always afraid people are thinking what a stupid and fumbling prayer I just gave…I prefer a good silent prayer. My Papaw (grandfather) gives the best ones!!!

Love Diet Coke. Love caffeine. Don’t know what I’ll do when we decide to have kids…we eat at our fav mexican restaurant at least once a week and someone once told me you can’t eat the cheese there when you’re pregnant…? I guess I’ll starve then because we always go there and I love the cheese. And the Diet Coke.

  37. says

I’m with you on the Diet Coke. Even though I’m pregnant, I couldn’t give it up! I did cut back A LOT, but those fountain Diet Coke cravings won’t go away! My doctor said one a day is fine!

  38. says

You are not crazy! I actually watched Toy Story 3 last night with my hubs. Immediately after it was over, I went to my closet and got out my Mickey Mouse. I hugged him and cried. I’d blame it on the pregnancy hormones, but I’m pretty sure I would’ve done the same thing if I wasn’t pregnant.

  39. says

I unjoined my gym as well, I drink coffee and REAL coke during pregnancy, and thanks to #3, I’m headed downstairs to make a cake with C! 🙂

  40. says

I’ve been drinking 1/2 Caffeine-free Diet Coke mixed with 1/2 Regular Coke…I figure it’s only 1/2 the caffeine and 1/2 the artificial sweetner as doing 100% one or the other. I was in the Chick-Fil-A drive thru this afternoon and thinking that the girl must think I’m crazy. *I* think I might be crazy. Oh well 🙂

  41. says

I am so glad to finally know that Chickfila has their own name for a half sweet tea/ half (regular) lemonade. A “split” will save me a lot of words! I am prego too. I drink caffeine. I need it to be a happy person. I also like to silently pray… and I would like some of your cake. 🙂

  42. says

I do the same thing with books! Except I re-read the ones I already love instead of reading the ones I’ve bought. I also had about 5 books I’d borrowed from a friend in SEPTEMBER that I hadn’t read yet. So I resolved to read those before I re-read any others and I’m also hoping to make a dent in some of the ones I haven’t read yet. 4 down, 1 to go! Owning books is an addiction! I will NEVER have a Kindle!

  43. says

Right there with you on #12. No one else needs to hear me. My group and the ministry I was involved with in college always made me feel so anxious b/c we would go around in a circle and pray. I always felt like everyone else was so eloquent. Silly, I know.

  44. says

I like to pray silently too for the exact reason you mentioned.

I find that my baby boy also likes so hang out on my bladder and kick it!

I miss Diet Coke A LOT! I’ve been scared to drink it, but since you do, maybe I’ll cheat and do it as well. Hudson turned out just fine.

I’ve had caffeine during this pregnancy too. hubs freaked out, I told him to chill.

  45. says

I gave up coffee for the first six months of my pregnancy because it made me sick…I proudly drink my one delicious cup of coffee each morning at 7.5 months pregnant…guilt free nonetheless. And I have already told my husband that both he and my baby will not be staying with me overnight at the hospital – I’m going to milk those last free nights of (mostly) uninterrupted sleep!!!

  46. says

I’m so with you on #12. I actually added it to my Life List of things to accomplish. ANd, I know so many people say how important it is to pray with your spouse, but we don’t. We do go to church together and have great conversations about our faith and that works for us.

  47. Missy says

I keep drinking my diet coke … and an occasional regular coffee too! Dr. says its fine, but I feel the judgement when others see me doing it!

  48. Aaryn says

Just FYI (I didn’t know this with number 1) but my OB confirmed that there have been no studies which conclude artificial sweeteners are harmful to the baby. He gave me the thumbs up to drink as much diet/artificial sweeteners as I want!

  49. says

    Love this post!

I also do caffeine while pregnant (in moderation.) I also drink red wine (gasp!) when super stressed, at the recommendation of my Dr. (also in moderation, of course. actually just a single glass less than once a week)

I also don’t like to pray out loud.

And I lived for having the baby in the nursery with both of my pregnancies! With the 2nd, he stayed in the room the 2nd night, because my husband wanted him in there with us.

  50. says

I’m loving the honesty! I know caffeine will be the hardest thing for me to give up when the Mr. and I decide to try makin a baby – maybe I’ll follow your example and do so in moderation!

Good luck with the test results – I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

  51. says

Oh good, I also drank caffeine. And I am breastfeeding and I still do 😉 My OB told me I would have to drink TWO POTS of coffee before there might be an effect, and even still, it would be fine. Which is good because it is my morning ritual 🙂

  52. says

My FSIL drank a coke/coke zero every morning during her pregnancies. She still does. I don’t think it is a biggie. As for the cake. M bought a red velvet cake the other day and we’ve been chowing down on it. So good!

  53. says

I haven’t watched Toy story three yet but my sister in law was telling me about it and started crying during her explanation! Don’t know if I can handle it! I have to go get the half tea/half lemonade.. that is my fav drink at starbucks!! So glad huddy is feeling better but sad you are sick:( hope you feel better! love ya!

  54. says

i loved this post. and all of your confessions. 🙂

it makes me feel better when i think “someday when i’m preggers – i really don’t want to give up my tea”. glad we are on the same boat!

  55. says

Love Arnold Palmer’s! And I am with you on praying out loud. I feel the same way, I don’t even like to pray in front of my husband. He hates that I won’t, but I just feel to critiqued by any and everyone who hears me. Wish I had the ability to do it though. I am just to self-conscious.

  56. says

I also “unjoined” my gym for 2011. It was too much money (I belonged to a fancy schmancy gym) to not be going. I felt guilty when I was’t going then dreaded it when I did. We shall see how my clothes fit come time to break out the spring/summer wardrobe.

When I saw Toy Story 3 I bawled like a baby because my son was graduating from HS and I remembered how much he just loved Buzz when he was little!

  57. says

Erin, everyone knows you gain more weight with the second, but it doesn’t show!!! You looked terrific in your last pic!
Good for you for enjoying your caffeine.. I sure did.
And their is no way I would sign up for the baby to be with me..that sleep is crucial!! 🙂

  58. says

I love that you’re my fellow book-a-holic! I have so many laying around I need to read 🙂

Also, Toy Story 3 made me give my favorite doll, Lorie, a big ol’ hug! I’ll never be too big to love on my favorite toy!

  59. Amy says

Ha! I’m loving this post! I have caffeine all the time and have since getting preggers again. I also have the very occasional glass of wine. And I also eat bad food like pizza and cheeseburgers and fries and cheesecake! Of course I take my vitamins and DHA too, but you gotta indulge a little. I did the same thing with AJ and he is the happiest and smartest guy there is…just like Hudson : ) Enjoy the last 3-4 months and then work it off later, (that’s my plan at least). Thanks for the great post!

  60. says

Right with you on 12 and 14. Barnes & Noble is having a fantastic sale online right now, and I loaded up with 5 new books, even though there’s at least 5 on my nightstand that still need to be read! I can count the times I’ve prayed out loud on one hand….almost always in my head.

  61. says

I love that your so honest. Amen to that sista. And I cried this weekend cleaning the closet when I..sob…threw…tear…my….puffy…sob sob sob…away. Puffy was my puffalump who stayed by my side through alot. But he was just catching dust and really really really was ratty. Now Im crying again. Great.

  62. says

I snuck a brownie out of the freezer and gobbled it up tonight, even though I’m supposed to be eating super healthy. (I have three weddings to go to this year, which means lots of cute dresses). But the brownie was so worth the extra calories 🙂

  63. says

My confession: I love Teen Mom. I’m obsessed.

I think that passing on the gym membership can be liberating- it means that instead of being tied to that building, you can get out and exercise in lots of fun, different ways without feeling guilty about “wasting” a gym membership by not being there. Getting outside in the fresh air is way more invigorating than being in a stuffy gym! My most fun recommendation: check out http://www.geocaching.com -it’s like a real-live treasure hunt and it gets you out to discover places near by that you might not have ever thought of checking out before!

  64. says

Um, I drink one diet coke every day (gave it up until 20 weeks and then realized it was a losing battle). I thrive on small pleasures, and honestly my diet coke is one…and I could not agree more with going to a moving and NEEDING a diet coke. That’s half the reason to go, no?

  65. says

I love when you do a post like this – makes me feel like I get to know your sweet-self a little better! 🙂 I can relate with #12…I’m the same way.

  66. Jami says

I love soda (especially Dr Pepper!) just as much as the next person, but you really have to be fooling yourself to think that it’s ok to have one or more EVERYDAY as many people have commented that they do. Especially concerning while pregnant. There is so much research that has proven how huge a factor long-term soda consumption is in causing several horrible conditions/diseases. This is not the same as the statements we see being made all of the time saying things like coffee, tea, etc cause cancer, oh and then the next day those same things are said to prevent cancer. The issue with soda is the insane amount of sugar and the stress it causes on the organs in our body, mainly the kidneys.

I do love this blog most of the time, but I think, Erin, for the sake of being being honest and relatable and authentic, you are also in this post making it appear that what you do is ok and healthy. Giving your readers the impression that this is an ok thing to do is irresponsible.

  67. says

Number 12 – I get suuuuperrr anxiety about praying out loud for that same reason.. even crazier I edit my prayers in my head when I think God is judging them…errr I know.. he loves me..and my prayers.. I don’t need to edit..it’s the perfectionist in me..sooo embarrassing. Number 15… I keep my baby blanket (that has been nicknamed the “Sars” blanket by my friends and bf b/c it is soooo ratty) under my pillow and find myself reaching for it time to time even though I am trying to be a “grown up” about it. 😉 Perfect post.. the honesty is refreshing, funny, and relate-able. 😉

  68. Caroline says

Here in England there aren’t nurserys in hospitals. After you’ve had your baby they stay with you all the time- nurserys were removed in the 60’s! The midwifes come in and check on you in your room every now and then, but they would only help with a feed if you and baby are really struggling to get the hang of it. For me, it was the right thing, I would have been seriously distressed at the thought of someone taking my baby away for the night. Funny how what you are used to seems the right thing, and the other option seems strange!!

  69. says

#13… I did the room in 24/7 with my daughter and it was HELL… I was so exhausted. It really affected me negatively. I agree…send that baby to the nursery for a bit.

  70. Rox says

Not really a confession, but an FYI….the Friends of the Richland County Public Library has a book sale four times a year. You can buy AWESOME books for as little as $1! Instead of paying full price for books, I buy them en masse quarterly!

  71. Becky says

I have a LeMutt of sorts, but his name is Foo Foo. When I was little, I bathed him every day with water and then combed all his fur, so now he is almost completely hairless. I can still wind him up and play his music box, though, so I must have been pretty careful with that mechanism.

Do you have a Kindle? Would that help with your book-buying obsession?

Girl. I am right there with you on #9!! I went back my natural color for the past couple of years, and I just don’t feel like myself. I’ve made an appointment for next month to go back blonde. I miss it!!!!

I am with you on the diet coke ! I do keep diet caffeine free coke at home though and drink it first so that if I get coffee or diet coke when I am out, I still am fine on the caffeine amount. I know you prob know this, but dont let op bother you. as someone with a medical degree who reads the medical literature and who is type A, caffeine and apartame in moderation are safe in pregnancy. I think its fine to say you drink them on your blog! (and your dr would agree I’m sure) you are not telling people to go out and od on caffeine!
as for toy story, I cried at the end! that is sweet that you hugged your old animals and apparently lots of people were inspired to do it too!
I think you look great, definitely don’t look like you”’ve gained too much and I bet chasing 2 will get the weight off fast!
also, today we found out we are having a boy, too! we’ll have 2 boys now. yay!

Okay – a few things. ha!

A couple of our CFA workers recognize “Arnold Palmer”. That makes me happy. Because I always hate ordering a “Half tea, half lemonade”. But good to know if I just say a “Split” they’ll know.

I was born with kidney problems. Sneezing has always been a doozy.

I also don’t like to pray outloud. To me my prayer time is very personal. I like to keep them silent. I lost the thumb thing (last one with thumbs up prays) and I couldn’t do it. I was griped at to the point of tears through the entire lunch. I just can’t do it. I’m not comfortable. You aren’t alone.

    This was a great post.

What a fun post!! I am due in early May, so we are just a few weeks apart. But this is my first baby. I have already gained 25 lbs. I have 14 weeks to go. My oh my… I had not expected to gain this much weight this soon. But my midwife said I don’t need to do anything differently, so that’s good. I had my glucose test yesterday and passed. I hope you do (did?) the same!

Anyhow – I just really enjoyed this post (and your blog in general) and thought I’d write a comment.
Hope your sinuses are feeling better soon!

I loved this post! You are too funny. I buy books too, before reading my already owned vast collection. It is ridiculous! I also have a TON of unread subscribed magazines I need to read too.

Oh, and I tell my husband all the time that I was born a blonde, and even though I need help to be one now, it is what God intended 🙂 Ha ha!

    Two things:

    1.Erin, you look great!
    2. Giving up diet coke seems nearly impossible…glad to know other people don’t and have healthy babies!

You make me laugh. You look wonderful, I don’t think you ever couldn’t! Enjoy this time, cake, caffeine and all! No judging here (I type this as I drink my morning diet coke). I sleep with my baby blanket that I swore I’d get rid of when I got married. That got pushed to when we have our hypothetical child(ren). If you can pry my fingers away from my blanket, I’ll give it to my first-born. But it might take some doing 😉 xoxo

My confession is a little late, BUT… I also drink caffeine while pregnant and now, every time I have to go to the bathroom, I’m afraid I’m in labor. TMI, but true. 🙂 Oh… and I still sleep with my baby blanket. It looks like a rag, but I love it so.

I love this post, all of your confessions are so funny & had me laughing!! I love your honesty and how you keep it real!!!! Girl, feel lucky that you don’t live out here in Atlanta- the big trend where we live is “rooming in” with your baby and it is sweet & all… but sleep is pretty much non-existent. After days of labor, then a c-section, I was needing sleep BAD- but didn’t get it. Send that baby to the nursery while you can- for all of us who weren’t able to! ;o)

I am TOTALLY with you on both #11 and #13. Love following your blog and your pregnancy journey – as a new mom, I’ve already sent your “what to pack” post to my husband so he can help me remember!
