hump day hodge podge

1. Hudson is feeling much better and I really appreciate all of your well-wishes. He had his second shot of rocephin yesterday and the doctor confirmed that he still has the ear infection. We’ll go back tomorrow for one more rocephin shot– and if that doesn’t do the trick, we’ll be going to see an ENT. I had tubes twice as a kid and given Hudson’s family history, he may just need them, too. The good news is that he is acting like his fun, goofy, happy self and we’re happy to see him returning to normal.

2. I’m 23 weeks pregnant and feeling great. My glucose test is on Tuesday at 24 weeks and I just hate that test. I always get worried I’m going to get sick or faint because you can’t eat for so many hours. Thankfully they give you an early morning appointment so you can swing by Chick fil A for a chicken biscuit on the way home from your appointment!

3. Some of my friends and I are hosting a very special baby shower for a very special mama and her baby boy on the way. I’m having lots of fun working on it and can’t wait to see all of our creative efforts come together on Saturday. I’ll take pictures and post them!

4. Remember my post about all the TV I planned to watch for the 2010-2011 season? Well that didn’t really happen. I’m still staying true to my favorites like Mad Men, Damages, and Glee. And I can’t let go of the Housewives shows or The Bachelor. Speaking of The Bachelor… are y’all watching? You know I’ve already read the spoilers on Reality Steve, but I still love watching. I can’t say who my favorite is because I think my opinion is skewed after reading the spoilers. I’m not planning on watching Idol this year. I’ve always been a huge fan of the show, but I just loved Simon. And I think it’s weird to have a judge like J.Lo who is still working hard to have a film and music career.

5. Hudson and I got out of the house today for the first time since Sunday and ran some errands. I needed to go to Party City, the post office, and the fabric store. He was a dream child in the fabric store, but he was way too tempted by all of the Elmo and Mickey Mouse stuff in Party City. I always let him hold something in the cart and look at it and sneak it away before it’s time to check out. He threw a small fit in the post office that probably seemed to last an eternity to me, but really only lasted ten seconds. It’s hard because I don’t need to get a sitter just to run a couple of errands and he can’t go to “school” when he’s sick. But taking him with me to places that don’t have a shopping cart is pretty difficult. If you ever see us out, please either run the other way or just smile. Ha!

6. I went to the fabric store to pick up the fabric for Hudson’s big boy room. I can’t wait to share it all with you! But I don’t want to do any sneak peeks until it’s all put together.

I hope you’re all having a great week! Toodles, Poodles!

I’m with you on stopping by Chick-fil-A after your glucose test. That’s exactly what I did a few weeks ago when I had that test! And I’ve been craving Chick-fil-A my whole pregnancy anyway! I’m glad Hudson is feeling better!

Just an idea that I wanted to throw out at you… in case you haven’t done anything like this.

My mom had a prayer shower for all 3 of my babies while I was pregnant with each of them. She called 5 of her closest friends over to the house. There were no presents. No snacks that I can remember. They just went around the room and prayed for whatever God laid on their hearts.

They asked God for an easy safe delivery and good rest for me in the hospital. They prayed that Jason would be attentive to my needs without my asking. They prayed for each baby’s salvation at some point in their lives. They prayed that school and learning would be a joy and would come easily for my kids. They prayed for future spouses and that God would put a calling on their lives and that He would use them in a mighty way. They prayed that my 2 older kids would not feel jealous of the new baby but would love her. Etc. Etc.

You name it. They prayed for it and spoke blessings over my children. After each of those prayer showers (I’ve had 3. One for each baby.) I went home and journaled all of the prayers that I could remember hearing. And it is AMAZING to go back now that my oldest is 5 and know that she’s not just a good reader and a good little Kindergartener because I’m a SAHM that worked hard. No, she’s that way because God is faithful and answered prayers that were prayed over her while she was still growing inside of me.

The idea may sound strange, but I wanted to throw it out there because it was a very meaningful time for me. And I really think bathing my kids in prayer has made a difference.

You are too cute with your baby bump! And I have read about Mad Men on many different blogs. I need to remember to look it up on NetFlix and put it on my list!

Love that baby bump- so cute! I have a journal from my baby showers that ladies who were there wrote prayers in- for me and my baby. It’s so special, and I love to look back on it! Also, I think I’m going to need to jump on this Mad Men bandwagon, as soon as I finish Friday Night Lights!

Bummer about Hudson still being ill, that has just got to be the pits!

Your baby bump is darling! I’m not looking forward to the glucose test either, I’ll have to ask my dr. about when I’m supposed to have that scheduled. It’s coming up here soon!

Cannot wait to see what you have up your sleeve for the big boy room! You and your mom have great taste!

You are SO freakin’ adorable! What a cute bump! I can only hope to look half as great as you if/when I’m pregnant!

I thought of you earlier this week because I’m in the beginning stages on planning my husband’s going away party for the Navy in April. I remember reading your blog early on with Hudson’s birthday party decor, etc and being totally blown away. Let me know if you have any cute ideas come to mind for an anchors away bon voyage 🙂

I have to agree with the op that hudson is adorable in his sick pics. SO sweet… but I am sorry he’s sick. can’t wait to see his big boy room! I know what you mean about going places w/out shopping carts- one day I just thought- why dont I just stroller him? It is so much less stressful even if it is a little more work. however, I apparently forgot my own idea, b/c I had my own post office incident recently! and it was during Christmas so you know it was a LONG line/wait!

I would love to know about your maternity clothes shopping and dressing tips if you have any. I am preg in different season (due in june)than I was the first time, so I need to get some things and not sure what. I was also wondering if you are planning to get a double stroller? or any extra gear?

First of all, I love the giant fleur-de-lis in your bathroom! I am a Kappa Kappa Gamma and it is one of our symbols, so I tend to notice them everywhere I go!
Secondly, Chick-fil-a biscuits are the best part of any morning.

You don’t look cute…you look GORGEOUS. Glowing, happy, healthy, radient. I actually gave in and watched Idol last night. I hate the early shows because of all the terrible people they put on, but i do have to say….I really like Jennifer Lopez as a judge, and I thought for sure I would not. So, if you’re bored tonight, tune in…it’s actually better than last year (so far at least…)

I am sure the shower will be ADORABLE Saturday if you’re helping with it!! You have such a good eye!

Also, I am so excited to see what you come up with for Hudson’s new room!
