Snow Day in South Carolina

During the night last night, I woke up to the sound of some pretty loud thunder. I knew that it was supposed to snow, but the sounds outside were kind of frightening. I woke up around 5:00 a.m. and went to the window to look outside. Everything was covered in a gorgeous blanket of snow and it was still coming down!

When we woke up this morning it was still snowing and even deeper. We don’t get snow that often in South Carolina, so it’s always really exciting. Typically, life shuts down due to the snow, so we don’t really have the pains of driving in it and all that comes with that. It’s just like a little vacation in a winter wonderland.

Hudson’s school was canceled and TC didn’t have to be in court because the county offices were all closed. So we’ve had an exciting day! I made breakfast and hot chocolate and I made chili for lunch.

We all got outside in our boots and the best snow gear we could find for South Carolina residents. Boudreaux had the time of his life!

Hudson was very proud to be wearing his boots and kept saying “boots, boots, boots!” And if the snow covered his boots he would bend down to dust them off.

He didn’t really want to play in it, but he was trying to dust the snow off his playset so he could use his slide. Then his mittens kept coming off, but he didn’t seem to mind. We wouldn’t let him stay out there without his mittens, so we’d put them back on him and they’d fall off again.

We eventually decided we needed to come in so Hudson’s clothes could dry off and then we could eat lunch. We promised him that we’d take him back outside this afternoon, but the tears came anyway. He was so sad to have to come back inside from the snow. It’s safe to say he loves it!

But I don’t think anyone loves it as much as this guy!

p.s. There aren’t any pictures of Fiona in the snow because Fiona kind of refused to let her paws hit the snow.

Happy Snow Day from our house to yours!

Ahhh, how fun!! I was out of town until late last night, so, I missed all the snow fun in Dallas. It’s still icy and there’s still some on the ground here, but, nothing too exciting. My dogs too refuse to go outside in it–such babies! Looks like y’all are having a great time!

Your home looks absolutely perfect in the slow- it’s so charming! How special that you were able to share a snow day with Hudson- since they’re few and far between here in the south. My husband and I are off of work today ourselves in Nashville.

Our puppy LOVES the snow, too! He had a blast playing in it and running around. Hudson looked precious. What a fun time for your whole family to enjoy the snow together!

I love how excited your dog was to be outside! And Hudson all dressed up is just beyond cute!
I love that all the south is getting covered in snow it’s so much more exciting to see those pictures than when we up in Illinois get it. Have fun out there! And stay warm!

what a great way to spend the day! snow is also a rare treat here in Gulf Coast Texas, so whenever it does come down, the whole city comes to a standstill…..great photos, and what a gorgeous house you have!

Thunder snow! How cool! That definitely doesn’t happen much here in the south. We’re still waiting for our snow in Raleigh. It’s happening all around us, but we’re in a bubble of no snow. Very disappointing! I’m not excited about all the ice we’re supposed to get tonight. I just don’t want to lose power.

I hope you continue to have a wonderful Snow Day!

Your home looks so cozy blanketed in snow. And Hudson looks like he’s having a ball! As for Boudreaux, his Golden cousins up here in Pennsylvania (my parents’ dogs Sadie and Layla) also LOVE the snow. Of course, they get to see it more often than your guy. Happy snow day to you!!

    Erin,

It looks like you had a fun snowday too! We were shocked when we looked out this morning and we were covered in snow. I knew the weather had forecasted snow but I just thought we would get s sprinkle, nothing like what we got! So funny that Hudson loved the snow so much and wanted to dust off the snow from his boots- ha! Sounds like my son, Ryder, who will say “Mess!” when he sees a mess or if he makes a mess. GREAT pictures! Have a great week 🙂

We have about 8″ in North Mississippi – it is so pretty! My son, whose Hudsons age, has loved it too. Thankfully Santa thinks we live in th North Pole because he brought a snow suit the last two years and a little sled this year as well. He has LOVED us pulling him around on the sled – and going down a pretty big hill too. He won’t keep his mittens on though, so once he’s in the sled I have to put his hands in his pockets. So fun!!

Look at all these cute photos! B looks like Layla in the snow. She goes nuts and runs and grunts and acts like a puppy. It cracks us up.

    Happy snow day 🙂

Hudson looked so cute out in the snow; I love his chubby little cheecks! My son is 7 and he LOVES his boots, too. When he was a toddler I got him a pair of green ones that had a cute froggy face on the front and he has refused to let those go even now; each year I go to Target and get him a pair in a bigger size. I don’t know what I will do if they ever decide to discontinue them, lol. I am glad your family had a fun snow day; we live in central ga and only got ice 🙁

Buddy and his long lost Cajun cousin need to have a play date! Budster was loving the snow- and dying to go sledding with all the kids on our street. Hudson is too cute- loving his boots! Adorable!

I’m jealous of your fun, cuddly, warm, snowy day. Up here they’re prepared for it so we never get to stay home and enjoy it unless it’s the weekend.
I never can decide who I think H looks more like….you or TC. Either way, he’s a cutie!
