We spent a wonderful 10 days in Dallas with my family for Thanksgiving. I went out a few days early to help throw a baby shower for one of my best friends. All but two of my bridesmaids were at that baby shower and it was so much fun to catch up and all get to be together!
TC joined us a few days after we got there and we spent most of our time relaxing and watching football. And eating. My mom isn’t eating meat anymore, but she still fixed us a delicious turkey. But from all of the side dishes (green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, broccoli cheese and rice casserole, dressing, peas, and creamed corn) and the desserts (derby pie, chocolate pie, and pumpkin pie), there wasn’t a whole lot of room left for turkey.
We had a lot of fun cooking and my parents always enjoy getting to play with Hudson. He is so sweet and just loves his KK and Poppie so much. And he loves “Melmo” so much. My mom set up a cute little playroom for Hudson with all of his toys and a little TV and DVD player so he could watch his shows while we watched football. He is just so good at entertaining himself.
On Thanksgiving morning, my dad, TC, and Hudson got up and went to do the Turkey Trot 5K with 40,000 other people. It was a chilly morning, but they got out there and did it. And Hudson looked so stinking cute in his little race t-shirt.
My mom and I stayed home to watch the parade and finish cooking. Thanksgiving is just my favorite holiday. It helps get me into the Christmas spirit and I think there’s a lot less pressure with Thanksgiving than there is with Christmas. We had a great day.
We also took Hudson to North Park to see the model trains. It is really something to see and if you’re in the DFW area, you should definitely check it out. Hudson was fascinated with all the trains and kept saying “choo choo!” His RC and PC started a model train set for him last Christmas, so I’m really excited to get that out this year so Hudson can watch the trains in his own home.
Before we left town, we took some pictures for our Christmas cards and I thought I’d share a little teaser of one of the pictures we got of Hudson. He’s so sweet!

I am so glad yall had a great Thanksgiving!!! H is just so precious!!!
Adorable picture – hope you’ll show the finished card on here when you’re done! He looks so much older and growing out of his baby phase! He looks so much like your dad in that pic to me!
He is the sweetest little boy! I’m so glad I got to meet all of you. I just love how Hudson says “thank you” to everything. Such a good little gentleman.
He is just precious! I’ve always thought he looks so much like you, but I’m really starting to see more of Todd in him as he gets older. And on Thanksgiving, I could care less about the turkey, I’m ALL about the side dishes and desserts!
love that last picture of Hudson, so precious!
Wow look at all that hair on his little noggin! So cute.
He IS a cutie in his race t-shirt! We all signed up to do a turkey trot in OH, but it was 26 degrees and monsooning, so we skipped it. *guilty*
What a cute pic of H! Your baby bump is cute too, you look tiny 🙂
That race picture is just so sweet! It will be even cuter with another handsome little boy added to it 🙂 Glad you guys could enjoy a great, long trip to Texas!
Thanksgiving is my favorite, too! There’s just less pressure, like you said. Hudson is soo adorable!!
He looks so grown up in that last picture! Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I’d never thought of it this way, but it’s exactly why I love Thanksgiving too: less pressure than Christmas. Such a true statement.
I am so happy to hear that your Thanksgiving was fantastic. Hudson is the cutest and I love the 5k picture of all of your men!
Hudson looks so adorable in the racing picture, with the number taking up his whole chest! So sweet.
Hudson does look adorable in his race t-shirt! Glad you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!
Thanksgiving is my favorite, too! Hope the guys had fun with the 5K. It was a bit chilly here, and we ended up getting rained on just a bit – but it was a wonderful route and a great run anyway.
I really think Hudson favors you in the photo you shared. He is looking more and more “little boy” each time you share a new photo.
Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving & you’re right, it’s the laid back holiday. Hudson
