some information about baby Carroll #2

Thank you all so very much for your super sweet words of encouragement and your well-wishes! We are very excited and cannot believe that in 6 months there will be another little one in this house. Y’all asked a few questions so I thought I’d answer them for you.

How many weeks are you?

I’m 12.5 weeks right now and already have a slight bump. It’s amazing how much earlier I am showing than last time. I’m sure it’s because last time I actually had some stomach muscles to hold the bump down and this time I don’t have a prayer of having even a single stomach muscle to hold down the bump. The bump is out in full force!

When did you find out you were pregnant?

I took a pregnancy test on September 6 and it was positive. I took a few the week before and they were all negative, but then I was late and just knew I had to be pregnant. We had planned to try to get pregnant in either August or September and it happened in August. I was trying to avoid being as big as a house in the South Carolina summer. Thank goodness this baby will be a May baby. I do not do well with the heat!

Are you going to find out the gender?

Yes. We’re supposed to find out in about 4 weeks. Until then, I’m trying not to let my mind think either way. I don’t have any idea right now or any suspicions. I just don’t want to become attached to the idea of a certain gender before we find out for certain. We’re obviously thrilled that we’ll be having a baby and his or her gender doesn’t matter to us at all, even though there are obvious fun things about a boy or a girl!

How are you feeling?

Not great. It’s about like I felt with Hudson, but I haven’t actually gotten sick as many times. I just have a sensitive stomach and always have. I was sick with Hudson for about 24 weeks, so I’m hopefully the sickness with this baby won’t last as long. It’s easier this time because I’m at home and can grab a snack or something to drink to settle my stomach whereas last time I was at work and couldn’t do much about my nausea.

What is your due date?

The official due date is May 15, but we’ll be scheduling a c-section and are looking at May 7 or 8 for the delivery date.

How many times have you been to the doctor?

We went to the doctor at 8 weeks and had a sonogram, so we saw the sweet little baby and saw the little flashing heart beat. We went yesterday for our 12 week appointment and heard the heart beat on the doppler. It took my doctor a long time to find the heart beat because the baby is still so small, but surprisingly I stayed calm until she found it in there! It’s such a precious sound.

I’ll be attempting to do weekly pregnancy updates, which I didn’t really do when I was pregnant with Hudson and I kind of wish I had. It’s just so hard to be consistent with anything these days! My hands are full, full, full!

Congrats again! I definitely recommend the weekly updates. I have a friend that didn’t do them and then saw I was doing them and already regrets it (even though I know you didn’t do them with Hudson) – it’s just amazing how you think you’ll remember EXACTLY what day random things happened and then you start to think about it and realize you don’t remember at all! So excited for you!

  14. Kristy says

Congratulations Erin! I was just thinking the other day that you hadn’t posted in awhile and I started to leave you a comment to let you know you were missed and that lately when a girl steps away from her blog for a few days like that it usually means she is pregnant…guess I was right 🙂

  15. says

So exciting!! Congratulations on your newest addition to the family!! I can’t wait to hear all about everything with your weekly updates…

  16. Isabel says

Love Hudson’s t-shirt (didn’t want that to go unnoticed)!! He’s truly going to be such a sweet big brother. Thrilled for you and TC and so happy for your growing family!! Hope the time with your Mom was good – sounds like it couldn’t have come at a better time xoxo

Fun info! I’m curious about the c-section, mostly because I had a super long labor with my daughter like you did with Hudson. My daughter was also a big baby, like Hudson was! Is that the reason you will be having a c-section? If you don’t mind sharing, of course. Congrats again, so exciting for you and your family!

  19. says

How exciting!! Hope you feel better soon and not sick. That’s hard with having a little one to chase around after too. I had my first in the SC summer heat…. not fun at all! #2… I attempted to “schedule” a little better…. he was born this past March. Perfect weather! 🙂 Congrats again.

I am so excited for you!!! What a blessing this second baby is. I am even more excited that you are 12.5 weeks and due May 15 because that is exactly what I am right now too:) How strange is that!!! It will be fun to go through this and see what someone else is going through as well. I just started feeling better last week, so I will pray yours gets better too. It is so much harder this time with a toddler!!!

    Congrats!!!

    HI,
I love the dress! I found your blog through Kelly’s Korner. I live in Canada but I like the Southern style. I have found several products by following your blogs! Here is hoping I win the dress!
P.S. Congrats on Baby # 2 your little guy looks precious.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I’M SOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!
haha I never comment on anything, but I am always reading and just couldn’t resist myself with this one! I can’t wait to find out the gender and see what you are going to name the baby! Keep us posted! Miss you!

Congrats on baby #2! I will look forward to your weekly pregnancy updates considering I am due with #3 on May 17, crazy. I am still in the closet and will be announcing next week and got the same t-shirts for my girls at BRU (except they say big sister 🙂 ). Enjoy the ride and welcome to the crazy world of 2!

Congratulations! Curious why you’re going with the C-section, but obviously no need to respond if it’s a private matter (and I’m also new to the blog, so I may have missed something!) I’m just always curious about that stuff:)

  25. says

    Congrats on baby #2!

I’m wondering about the c-section as well. I realize it is a very personal decision, but I’m curious about what lead you to it. I had my miracle baby the other way even with a transplanted kidney in front right up next to my uterus, and if I did it that way, I feel like anyone can!

  26. MrsD says

follow you on twitter & had to come see for myself why anyone would feel compelled to comment on the topic of c-section delivery. I had a scheduled c-section. My body-my baby-my choice !!! Erin- ignore the haters !!! Enjoy your pregnancy~treasure this special time !!!

Congratulations to you and your entire family! After an emergency c-section w/ my first daughter, my doctor recommended a second with our youngest. I was amazed at how much better my body did the second time around. Don’t know if I was better prepared or what, but hopefully you’ll have the same experience.
Having a child is the most amazing experience!
    Blessings!!

  28. says

So excited for you! I think you made a great choice going with a c-section. I’m a labor and delivery nurse and have seen a ton of vaginal deliveries. Not to scare any readers, but in some cases the mom ends up with some pretty serious tears and considering your history, a c-section sounds like the safest bet for you. To echo the previous comments, it’s your body and your choice! I hope you start feeling better soon!

  29. MrsD says

Congratulations!!!. And I completely understand your reason for a section, but make sure the dr doesn’t do it too early, without very good reason. Babies really should be born post 39 weeks at the very earliest if there is no reason (and obviously there are important ones, which may pertain to you and you, quite rightly, have no desire to share them with the world). But section or otherwise (and I was a c-section baby and my daughter very nearly was) keep the baby baking for as long as you can! Disclosure: I live in Europe where I know our attitudes to birthing are slightly different to Americans.

(I have a 2 year old and I am hoping so much we will be adding another one to our family. Unfortunately my body doesn’t seem so willing, sadly.)

  30. Krissy says

Oh my goodness, YAY!!! Congratulations, Erin!!! 🙂 🙂 I am so very excited for you and your family! 🙂 Hudson will love having a little brother or sister to play with, and you and Todd will love watching them together! 🙂 Hope your nausea doesn’t last 24 weeks or longer with this one. I was sick every morning with Jake until the day he was born and was sick all day everyday with Jacy until the second tri-mester and it just went away like magic 😉 ….so there is hope! 😉
