1. We have had quite the busy day! I got up earlier than I’ve gotten up in a long time (except for when we have to catch early morning flights) and met a friend (who I’m excited to get reacquainted with) at the gym at 6:00 a.m. We did the Body Attack class and I do, in fact, feel like my body was attacked. Attacked by a cheerful, smiley, fun fitness instructor who made it impossible to hate the class even though I wanted to curl up on the floor and go back to bed. I survived and I actually didn’t feel all that bad when it was over. (If you haven’t learned this by now, I’m not so consistent when it comes to working out.)
After my workout, I came home, showered, and got dressed all before 8:30! I’m usually still in my pajamas at 11:00 a.m. when Hudson goes down for his nap. Todd is back in town and was able to get Hudson fed while I finished getting ready and that was a big help. I had a great phone chat with Lyndsey and wished so badly that she (and many others) lived here!
Then it was off to lunch with my friend and her daughter who is Hudson’s age. They’re finally really starting to acknowledge each other and smile at each other. It was really so cute to watch them. And good to catch up with friends.
Tonight is the first Junior League meeting (not counting committee meetings) of the year and I’m pretty excited to get back into the swing of things and see people that I haven’t seen in a few months.
2. Yesterday when I was at Barnes and Noble, I picked up a ton of new books. I have finished all but two of the books on my 2010 reading list and I know I’ve said that I’m not going to buy anymore books until I finish the unread books in my house, but I just couldn’t resist! I started The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I picked up all three of the books in the series and if they’re as good as everyone says, I’ll be done with them in no time!
Head on over to Book Beginnings and Bookends to vote for the next book we’ll be reading if you want to participate! Rachel and I tried to come up with a good list and want your opinion on the next book. The poll is in the right sidebar.
3. I just added Parenthood and Modern Family to my Netflix queue and hopefully I’ll be watching those soon! I saw the pilot episode of Modern Family when it originally aired, but my DVR goofed and forgot to record the next two episodes, so I just felt too behind at that point. Now I can get caught up! Football season is in full swing, but we might have a little time leftover for some TV on DVD. And we still have a few weeks before all the fall television starts back.
What’s going on with all of you? My mind is consumed with thoughts of dining room draperies and chairs and I can’t wait for my sectional to arrive. I guess that’s what happens when your job takes place in your home. I sit around all day and think of ways to rearrange and redecorate.

I LOVE Modern Family — they are so dysfunctional but it completely works. They kept me laughing last year =)
Parenthood is my fav. show 🙂
Good for your for going to the gym early! It’s so hard to work out first thing in the morning. I too just ordered The Hunger Games and I am excited to start it. Other than that, I am thinking about going back to school in a few weeks, trying to find a few fall clothes staples, and college football season!
I’ve heard great things about those books. I have such an overwhelming stack of “To Read” books and I still can’t stop myself from getting deals on Amazon or accepting books from friends that I just have to read. One day!
It’s so funny that you mentioned those two shows because I was recently asked what shows I was favorite to watch this fall and those were two of the three! They’re GREAT. Don’t know if you’ve gotten into Parenthood, but give it time. I didn’t enjoy the first 2 shows, but after you start getting to know the characters, it’s fabulous.
p.s. My third show was Glee. ; )
Good for you for going to the gym that early. I wish I could do the same again, I used to.
I love Parenthood. It was one of my favorite shows last year!
Modern Family is one of our favorite shows and we really like Parenthood too. I think you’re really going to enjoy both. My mind is currently consumed about my upcoming trip to Wisconsin/Chicago, Lee’s birthday, our anniversary trip, and our anniversary. All GREAT things but consuming nonetheless.
In awe of your early morning workout. I need to get back to the gym but trying to take it easy so I can shake this cold before this weekend.
1. I love Modern Family! Easily the funniest show on television right now. It makes me laugh out loud almost as much as Friends does. Cameron and Mitchell are my favorite. Oh, and Manny. This will make sense once you watch.
2. I am going to save the first season of Parenthood until the spring when I’m cooped up with the baby. I’m itching to watch it but I know I’m going to need something on those final days of winter with the new baby.
3. I loved, loved, loved The Hunger Games series. Thank you, MM for the recommendation!! They are incredible. Catching Fire was definitely my favorite. I don’t even like science fiction, but these were incredible. I loved The Giver, too, and these were very reminiscent of it.
4. This was the longest comment in the history of the world. Oops.
Yay for you getting around early and everything!! I haven’t read The Hunger Games yet but I definitely want to!! 🙂 Great post, lady!!
Have a great day
I’m reading The Hunger Games too!
The Hunger Games series is awesome! Enjoy!
Parenthood is a must. This show makes me laugh and cry. Great music too.
I seriously love Modern Family. It’s hilarious!!
I just went and voted and I can’t wait for the next book to start!
Also, I think I am going to add both of those shows to my Netflix. I loved Parenthood, but for some reason a certain little 4 year old never wanted to go to sleep on the night that it was on!
Man, I need some more inspiring posts about exercise (from someone else who isn’t an exercise junkie 🙂 Thanks for the motivation!
I love Modern Family and Parenthood. You’re gonna love them. Netflix is the best thing that we pay for each month…I’m a Netflix junkie, too many shows to watch but I can’t help myself I want to watch them all!
ps. i’m SUPER impressed by your getting up to workout so early. I hope you can keep it up…I know how hard it is to keep at it. So lots of luck to you!
I have caught Modern Family a few times…let us know how you like it!
I am consumed with thoughts of baby!!! C Section scheduled for Sept 19….changing table to arrive the 17..YIKES!!!
Can’t wait to see your new sectional/family room area…my hubby is already planning to take my formal living room and turn it into a family room, and take my family room area and make it a playroom for baby…not quite sure how I feel about that, but your ideas always inspire me 🙂
You are going to LOVE Hunger Games and the other two books in the series. You should just line up a sitter for Hudson and hunker down to read them straight through.
My coworkers all watch Modern Family but I could not get into it for some reason. Maybe I’ll give it another shot. Hubby and I are still working on getting through Mad Men on BluRay. We have 2 more eps left in Season 2.
I can’t wait for the next bookclub book! Great list to choose from! My vote is was for Girl with Dragon Tattoo (since it’s already on my shelf) and my second choice is Sarah’s Key. 🙂
My friend is lending me the Hunger Games books. I heard they are amazing!
You will love Modern Family. It’s hysterical!
u have had such a busy day:) Hope we can gchat, chat or skype soon!! Feel like we have a lot to catch up on!!! have fun tonight!!
Love, love, LOVE Modern Family!! I was wondering where you got your sectional…we are looking for one to put in our new addition! I can’t seem to find just the right fit! Also, thanks for righting about where you get Hudson’s clothes! I have been looking for some long alls. They are pretty hard to come by here in Nebraska!!
I’ve still got last season’s parenthood on the DVR. Need to catch up as season’s previews look great. Modern Family is hands down funniest show on tv right now!
The Hunger Games and Catching Fire are great books. I am currently trying to get through Mockingjay, it’s not as good to me as the other two, but I’m only half-way through.
Enjoy!
I just finished the Hunger Games last night. Such a good series – I couldn’t wait to turn each and every page. Love it!
Have fun at Junior League! I have a JL meeting next week and can’t wait!!
If you miss episodes of those again, they’re online! That’s how we watch them.
I’m glad to hear BodyAttack went well. The only way I am able to exercise super early in the morning is with my gym classes and their super peppy instructors! I can’t wait to hear what you think of Hunger Games, I may have to add them to my already long book list!
The Hunger Games series is next on my to-read list!!!
I think you’ll love Modern Family and Parenthood, can’t wait to hear what you think.
I originally thought the Hunger Games series sounded a little scary, but after all the hype I’m thinking I need to give them a try.
I am especially obsessed with Modern Family…enjoy!
I loved, loved, loved the Hunger Games series. They were fabulous and super easy reads since they are technically young adult books. Enjoy them!
I saw it didn’t get a lot of votes, but Commencement is a FABULOUS book!
Modern Family is such a great show…definitely up there after the RHOWherever!
RE #2: I loved The Hunger Games series. I listened to them on audiobook through the public library on my iPhone. I can’t wait to read/listen to book 3. Just to warn you, they’re not “feel good”-type books; they’re kind of strange, actually, but you won’t be able to put them down.
RE #3: Love both those shows… Modern Family is not one you have to watch in order, though. Each episode stands well on its own, so if you don’t get “caught up” in time for the new season, you really can go ahead and start watching.
I so love reading your blog and keeping up with you and Todd and Hudson and getting to know the “grown up Erin”. I remember when you were Hudson’s age and cute as a bug just like him!!! (That sure tells my age!) It is great fun to learn all the things we have in common….I too am an avid reader and have way too many books in my night stand drawers waiting for their turn to be picked up and enjoyed. I’m putting that series on my list. Let us know how you like them. Oh, and Modern Family is one of my favorite TV shows. I cannot always catch it at prime time but watch it on line when I miss it.
Modern family is the best show ever. Hilarious.
Don’t you just love the early morning workouts? If you’re able to get up and squeeze them in, the rest of the day is just amazing!
Parenthood and Modern Family are two of my favorite shows on TV right now- enjoy!
I also need to pick up the Hunger Game books- I’ve only heard good things about them!
You’ll love the Hunger Games!! Enjoy
I love Modern Family! Such a great show. The dad cracks me up!
Okay, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that I’m not the only mommy still in my pajamas at 11 am! 😉
I’ve been meaning to watch Parenthood too! I really loved Gilmore Girls, and when I heard Lauren Graham was doing a new show, I knew I had to watch. Modern Family is hilarious, too!
I also want to read The Hunger Games – I’ve heard great things about it. My list of books that I want to read is always SO long that I often forget which ones are on there until someone else mentions them. My friends and I started a book club a year and a half ago, and we’ve been doing so well with it – I love it! We’re reading The Help now, which I absolutely loved, and I can’t wait to see the movie!
Love Parenthood! It’s good! I can’t wait until fall tv is on!
I just joined my local Junior League. I’ve only had the first provisional meeting so far, but we have our regularly scheduled monthly meetings starting next week. Excited!!!
Love love love Modern Family!
You will love Modern Family. Love it!
After all the Twitter talk about those books, I’ve pretty much decided I need to read them. Are they as good as everyone is saying?
Sounds like a fun day! I’m off to run errands and send tons and tons of emails I’ve been neglecting:)
