two reasons to celebrate this day!

Today is September 2, 2010 and that means two things:

9.02.10… as in Beverly Hills, 90210

I think this is hilarious and I love that this is the only time (in this century) that this will happen. 90210 is one of my oldest, most favorite shows. I remember watching it in the third grade- the year it aired. I’ve written a few other blog posts about my obsession with this show, so you know that I’m on Team Brenda.

But regardless of what team you’re on, let’s all celebrate today!

The start of football season at the University of South Carolina!

The Gamecocks play Southern Miss tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Williams Brice Stadium. It has been a while since I’ve been to a game. Last season I wasn’t all that interested because I had a little baby boy and I wanted to be at home with him. But this season, I’m ready to be back in the land of the screaming Gamecock fans.

My friend, Kristin, asked me yesterday if I’d found any cute game day outfits and I honestly haven’t. I guess it’s good and bad. One of our colors is black, so that makes it really easy to just throw on a black top with some jeans and call it a game day outfit. When I was younger and more fun, I got dressed up for the games and stocked my closet full of black jersey dresses that were cool enough for the hot Columbia nights, but also cute enough to be considered “dressed up.”

I have no idea what I’ll wear tonight, but I’ll have my great husband as my accessory. I love looking back at all the old (old means two and three years ago) pictures of us at Gamecock football games. We were so carefree! Except when we were losing.

Happy game day to everyone!

Two more fun things:

Hudson is wearing this adorable “I heart Tulsa” t-shirt today that my friends Emily and Cate sent to him for his birthday. He actually slept in it last night and I think he looks so cute! And I had to show Emily how cute he looks in the shirt she gave him.

My other friend, Emily — my friend who did the blog sale on my blog– has started her own blog for hosting another blog sale. You must go check it out. She has some really cute shoes and handbags! It’s called Emily’s Closet.

    Love 90210!!!

I love that picture of you in the upper right of the football pics. Your hair looks a little bit darker than it is now, and I think its gorgeous (not that your hair isn’t always beautiful!)

    And Hudson is adorable!

I loved 90210 too and I had to keep watching it till the end!! I loved when they brought back the original characters at the end…they were like old friends and I needed to know what happened to them…ha ha. 🙂 Enjoy the game tonight. We are gearing up for Saturday when our beloved University of Nebraska plays!! 🙂

I was so excited to hear about 9.02.10!! I seriously love that show in all it’s ridiculous and I’m embarrassed to say (but since you’re such a big fan it’s ok to tell y’all! Ha!) that I watch it EVERY SINGLE DAY on SoapNet when I get home from work and I’m making dinner or working around the house. And I’m almost 30…. Can’t help myself, it’s the best!

And if you’re looking for some cute dresses for gameday…my friend, Sandi owns a store here in the Upstate and going to start carrying a great line of garnet/black dresses. Here is her store’s blog…http://spoonfulofsugar.blogspot.com. Take a peek.

hello! i love your blog! where did you get the shelving you have in your playroom? could you show a full size pic of them? i have been looking for something like that for my playroom.

I didn’t even realize it was 90210 today until I saw your blog! How awesome. My parent’s never let me watch the original 90210 (apparently it was too mature for me) so I love watching the new one and I secretly feel like I’m rebelling against my parents (yes, I’m 27, but I still feel that way)! Enjoy the game!!!!!

I would have never noticed the 90210 date thing. How funny!

It looks like Hudson’s play room is coming together nicely. I may need to do something like that soon. My son’s toys are taking over my living room!

  10. says

OK, I have to admit, I just felt a bit old reading your post. That you were in third-grade when 90210 started really dates me. Ha!

Cute pics of you and TC at the games!

I’m a Clemson grad and hubby is Carolina. I occasionally tailgate with him, but I just can’t bring myself to actually cheer for the Cocks. However, I’m always up for babysitting Hudson for y’all when you go to the games!!! I’m serious! Until we have kids, I should get a babysitting career going on the side!

  12. ACH says

The shelves look awesome (from what I can tell). How’s the rest of the playroom coming? Can’t wait to see pics! Send me a text / email where ya’ll are tailgating. At some point this season, JSH and I will have to stop by and see you and TC. Have fun tonight and Go Cocks!!

I love 90210 day! I had a poster of the first picture you posted in my room while I was growing up! I still have to do a fist pump like Brandon and Dylan every time I hear the theme song!

  14. says

    I am loving the blog!
Thanks for the clothing suggestions. I get in a rut with my little one’s wardrobe–he’s 19 months. I have found adorable stuff on Kelly’s Kids, though I have found that their sizes run small?.

  15. says

Yay happy game day!! My husband coaches for the University of Colorado (Buffaloes) and our first game is on Saturday. One of our colors is black too so if you find anything cute, let me know!

  16. says

Thank you for explaining that-People on facebook kept talking about 90210 day and I had no clue what they were talking about.

I ALSO was in love with 90210. This past summer, I had to live away from my husband to do an externship in another state, and had no cable. I watched every single episode of 90210 over again up to season 6. And I still watch the re-runs on soapnet 🙂

  17. says

I am actually LOL-ing at the 90210 thing!! Hilarious!

Ok, evidently being 2 1/2 weeks away from meeting my baby girl and not getting out of the house much means I live too much for tv and my blog world because as soon as I saw the SC game was scheduled for tonight I thought about you! So glad you are going…I will be cheering on the Gamecocks from my sofa. Love your football pictures past!

  18. says

Love the pics. We lived in Columbia for 6 months and my very favorite part of living there was FOOTBALL! We lived there during football season and had so much fun going to games with our friends. You are right – we were footloose and fancy free and probably did not even realize it at the time.

  19. says

OK so since you are good at dressing babies…what cute clothes do you get Hudson for football? I love, love, love football and want our baby to show spirit next fall but I find some of the clothes a tad….tacky. Thoughts?

    Hi there!
Just wondering where you got the white bookshelf/built-in you have pictured. I’ve been looking for something like that.
Love reading your blog and seeing photos of your cute blonde self!

  21. says

What a cutie that boy is!

I remember the 90210 craze very well!! Somehow I got my hands on a VHS of the first couple episodes when I was in 6th grade and I watched it over and over! I had a giant crush on Ian Ziering, and I was always a Kelly fan! Thanks for the throwback!

Erin, I love the rug in your playroom! Is it one of the Pottery Barn seagrass rugs, or something similar? I have had my eye on them for ages, but was always afraid they would be too rough and scratchy to be very hospitable to bare feet, etc. However, looking at Hudson crawling around on it in his shorts makes me think it might be less abrasive than I think. Maybe??? What do you think?

I know that I always watched 90210, but I can never remember anything that happened until somewhere around the college years, I don’t know what’s wrong with me! You look so pretty in all those football pictures! Hudson is such a sweetie, he always looks so happy 🙂 Love his I heart Tulsa shirt, that’s where I live!

  25. says

Third grade! Really?!?!? I started watching it when I think I was a senior. I am so old!! I loved 90210 though. It is also one of my favorite shows!

We are excited about college football at our house too!!! But we are Volunteers!! There is nothing better than SEC football!!
