mom-style monday: emmy style

I just thought I’d share my favorite Emmy red carpet looks from last night. These types are lists are always so different for everyone, but these women are wearing things that I’d like to wear. And I also think they look drop-dead gorgeous.

Who were your favorites?

all photos from People.com

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta, Claire Danes in Armani Prive, Sofia Vergara in Carolina Herrera

And another favorite I forgot about was Julie Bowen in J. Mendel. I think Julie Bowen is absolutely flawless.

Favorite Moments of the Show

1. The opening number of “Born to Run” starring Jimmy Fallon, the cast of Glee, and many other television stars including Jon Hamm (yum), Tina Fey, and Jorge Garcia( yay, Hurley)! I have a school girl crush on Jimmy Fallon. I think he’s so funny and I love that he can laugh at himself. It doesn’t hurt that he can be silly without being rude or crude.

2. Jimmy Fallon’s tribute to the shows that said goodbye was also great! I think it’s safe to say I love Jimmy.

3. Seeing Jon Hamm not as Don Draper. I love Mad Men, but I love Jon Hamm more because he smiles and laughs and gets on stage with the Glee kids.

Oh, Jon Hamm. The man can do anything. (By the way, did you see the SNL he hosted? Some flat-out brilliant skits … we still laugh about “Sergio.”)

It’s weird – perhaps because we watched the show in HD, Claire Danes looked terrible on our screen. Out-of-control spray-tanned and super-glittery. We both recoiled as soon as she came on screen! But in the print photos she looks beautiful.

My faves are here – was fun chatting with you last night during the show! http://www.freckledcitizen.com/2010/08/emmy-hangover.html

I have also harbored a crush on Jimmy Fallon for quite some time now. He is a doll. And I loooooved Lea’s dress and jewelry and hair– everything! She is such a favorite. Effortlessly beautiful! I also thought Edie Falco and Julie Bowen looked gorgeous, but did you see January Jones!? HORRIFIC. She looked like a futuristic street walker. So disappointing!

He may be a bad mean man on MadMen but he is HOT and he looked so very nice last night. I LOVE Emmy time just alone for the dresses and tuxes. But really Jon Hamm getting up there and dancing with Betty White did me in. I was in love. ha!

I thought the intro was great as well! Who was the random brunette in the skit? I couldn’t place her.

I loved Claire Danes as well, but I agree that in HD she looked to gold and shimmery in the face.

Ummm, can I admit that I had to do a triple take to figure out that was Claire Danes?? I saw her on the Latisse commercial a few weeks ago, and I’m still in shock! I’ve always thought she was beautiful, but, she’s suddenly crossed that road from beautiful to stunning! She looked amazing last night. I love her!

I loved those looks as well!!!! I didn’t get the opportunity to watch it live but I went on-line this AM and checked out all of the outfits! I loved Eva Longoria and Heidi Klum’s looks! Although, Heidi’s dress would have been much cuter as a long dress! I’m not big on mini’s at an awards ceremony… But that’s just my crazy personal opinion!
Hope you and the little one have a great week!

Loved the opening. Could’ve done without Kate Gosselin though. I’m sure she was intending to make fun of herself, except it looked like she was trying to dance well too. And sadly she was still the worst dancer on stage.

The tribute to the cancelled shows was hilarious!!!!! Great post.

Those were some beautiful dresses. Wow! Funny, when I saw your title, I had just been thinking over the weekend…I hope BEB does a fall fashion post. Do you take requests from the “audience?” Would love to see your thoughts on this fall’s fashion trends.

I loved the same dresses you did… Lea Michele is so freaking cute and I loved how she kept saying it was her birthday on the red carpet, I bet she had such a fun day! On another side… I hated what January Jones wore: the dress, the hair.. blech not so good.

The Emmy’s made me so excited for Glee this fall… can’t wait!

Have you seen the Sesame Street episode with Jimmy Fallon as “Wild Nature Survivor Guy?” I watch that over and over with my boys and none of them know I’m secretly crushing on him! Guys don’t realize how far a good sense of humor can take them, do they?

Claire Danes looked great, but she looks different to me. I can’t put my finger on it. Like, way different. In her face– and this isn’t the first recent photo I’ve seen of her that made me think this. Did she have some major plastic surgery?

I, too, thought that Claire Danes looked beautiful. In fact, when you tweeted about her last night, I switched to The Emmy’s for that very reason! Thanks for posting the opening song, I missed that and loved how the incorporated lots of different people in it. P.S. I’m debating on whether or not to take the dive into Mad Men–I feel like I’m missing out! I guess I would have to rent through Netflix?

I must say, I thought Lea Michelle and Claire Danes were hands down, the best dressed. I liked your other two picks as well. I also liked Tina Fey. Of course she can usually do no wrong in my book.

Love Jimmy Fallon and basically loved everything he did. Not a fan of Kate G being in the opening number, but whatevs. Not a fan of hers period so maybe I’m biased.

Thank you for the fabulous recap! I missed the Emmys (boohoo), but now i feel like I got the Cliff’s Notes of all the best parts. I’m loving all those navy dresses! And Claire Danes can do no wrong in my opinion. Saw her and her (then) fiancee at JFK one time, and I literally was about to lose my shizzle and embarass myself fawning over her..and then my dog tee-tee’d in the terminal so I had to attend to other matters. 😛

While we couldn’t watch the Emmy’s from Tokyo, I was able to see pictures of the stars arriving. Claire Danes looked so elegant, but so did Nina Dobrev-from “The Vampire Diaries”. They both wore neutrals and showed just how both a blonde and brunette could pull it off flawlessly. Of course, Gemma Mayes from “Glee” looked smashing as well. All dolled up in navy, she was fabulous!

A Happy Tuesday morning to you!

I love Jimmy Fallon! He made the Emmys for me. I saw him once at a comedy show in California. He did a comedy and singing routine which was as entertaining as what we all saw at the Emmy’s. Love him!

I’m a little late on this, but I also loved the Glee opener! I missed it, but immediately hit up You Tube and was so glad I did!

I LOVED Lea Michele’s dress but her hair needed some help! Claire Danes gets best dress for sure! That is the best she has ever looked!! I loved the color of her dress, the sparkle, her hair and makeup looked PERFECT!! She looked fantastic!

And Jimmy Fallon just melts my heart. I have his cd and listen to it on road trips because he just cracks me up. I loooove his impersonations. I was so so sad the day he left SNL. Plus, he’s adorable!
